Michael Jackson's Last Rehearsal
AEG, the promoters for Michael Jackson's show in London, have released this 1-minute rehearsal that was taken just two days before his death. In the video, MJ is doing his thing to the song "They Don't Care About Us" in full costume and with fans. FANS! It's not a Michael Jackson performance unless there's WIND involved. A lot of it.
Also, there's more details on Michael's memorial and funeral. E! says he will be buried at Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills. The Jackson family says that there were never plans for a public viewing despite reports.
A public memorial will be held at the Staples Center this Tuesday at 10 in the morning. They still don't know if the memorial will be broadcasted on TV or the internet.
You know people are camping out right now! In fact, they should just close L.A. down completely, because it's going to be chaos upon chaos. My mom said that she's going to be sitting in traffic until September. I don't know how that's different from any other day, but okay....

Oddly, this is the first thing that's made me cry.
Say what you will about MJ, he was an incredibly gifted performer. What I saw here reminded me of some of his earlier performances, and...I don't know why. It just made me cry.
And for the record (if anyone even cares), I never bought the whole child molestation thing. I think Michael so wanted to be a child himself, to return to a more innocent time, that YES, he may have acted inappropriately around children. But if we're going to condemn him, we must include the parents of those children. I feel, with all my heart, that they sent those kids to his house looking for a big pay-off in the end. I don't care WHO the star is, there is no way in hell that I'd let my kid (male or female) spend the night with an adult male. The parents need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Amen to all of that. He looked really great in this and all those parents are ridiculous. And my mother wouldn't let me go to sleepovers where it was all girls and the mother would be there. EVER. Much less with the husband there, even though she didn't believe anyone to personally be a pedophile or child molester she was protective and there's no way in hell she would have let me stay at any star's house--man or woman.

Thank you thank you thank you girl-cheese for posting that remark. I have never been able to figure out MJ's military fetish. Since he proclaimed himself as "King of Pop" I guess he thought maybe he needed to wear something that looked vaguely authoritarian. Probably someone told him a crown was out of the question, lest he become "Queen of Pop" and have to duke it out with someone like Debbie Gibson or Tiffany.

My oldest aunt, who's in her 60s, could give a more ass-kicking performance. What's with him and the military thing? The goose-stepping. It's vaguely disturbing - and boring. I mean, sure he was 50 and not in good shape, but at least he could have his backup dancers do the difficult moves (see Madonna and Britney). Not that it matters anymore. I'm sure even if it was a boring show his fans would've LOVED IT.

They are so going to make a whole bunch of money when they release this DVD, probably as much as if he had actually been in concert.
I think he looks amazing and that he was a perfectionist and meant to put on a hell of a show. I think that perfectionist attitude (well I actually know from personal experience) can cause anxiety and insomnia and such.
Hell I never thought I'd be taking Ambien in my life and it's due to stress from work and kids....

In all honesty, the arguments for/against what MJ might have done at these now-defunct concerts are all immaterial. His fans wouldn't care what he did (or did not) do on stage as long as they could SEE him. It's really all about the visuals. My sister saw Elvis in concert from a third row seat less than six weeks before his death, reporting that he was grossly overweight, disoriented, and could not remember the lyrics to any of his songs. No matter, when the local paper reported the same information, his loyal fans wrote in to say none of what was true was true because they saw what they wanted to see. Plus, a whole lot of people are just not open to the idea of therapy (many are downright hostile to it).
Therapy is a stigma to some; anathema to others.
I know sooooo many people that could use talk-therapy to repair their fractured souls and refuse to. Simply refuse. It would be acknowledgement that something was wrong...

I don't know. He looked pretty good in that video. Not good facially of course, but he still seemed to have his dancing shit together. It's obvious this was just a rehearsal/ run through. So that's why he wasn't putting alot of energy into it. But from that little clip, I think Michael would have surprised us with what he could still do.
Oh, well. Too late now. I'm really ready to move on from all the Michael Jackson coverage. But something tells me the coverage we're seeing now is only the tip of the iceburg. It's going to get ALOT worse in the coming weeks.
