Janet Honors Her Brother

Here's a clip that will wash off the thin layer of skeeziness left by the grand master of whoring Joe Jackson (see below). Janet didn't walk the red carpet or promote anything, she simply just spoke from the heart before a tribute performance by Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx (no comment on that one).

I have no idea why anyone thinks what Janet did was wrong. Was she "acting" hell yea I'm sure she wanted to cry inside and she put on a face to keep from crying. I've been in her position several times and couldn't even get up during a funeral with less than 100 watching imagine trying to stand in front of millions.

Joe is certified insane. Any man who tells his kids to call him by his name and not dad or father has to be a little off. Joe has been trying to be famous since before the kids. I wouldn't be surprised if the family got word of his antics and sent Janet to save face for the family. They need to tell him to shut up and let Jermaine or Marlon speak for the family going forward.

Only thing I'm interested in at this point is the funeral and memorial service. Jermaine being the most outspoken in the family is Muslim. The family is/was Jehovas Witness so it'll be interesting how they handle things.

Sincerely,
Alana Smithee

Janet made me teary. It was the only decent moment on that suckfest of a show. BET should be ashamed.

I am trying to comprehend the hypocrisy here! Why the hell does Joe Jackson need to parade his 'abusive father ass' onstage, crocodile tears in tow, and suck up the limelight? Michael was a truly prolific and talented artist, however the psychological damage this young boy suffered at the hands of this man is clearly evident in who he became. When is pop culture going to stop glorifying success that is attained through the exploitation of impressionable young talent and then throwing them out with the bath water. The fact that this human being felt compelled to reject his African American heritage by altering his physical appearance and skin color is nothing to celebrate. The culture vultures gorging on their piece of the pie abandoned Michael Jackson's greatest need, love. I am sad for MJ's inability to replace that which was truly missing from his childhood. No amount of award ceremony pats on the back and false tears will ever change the fact that Joe failed in his parental obligation to stand by his son until the bitter end. This should be a wake up call to the values that we seem to glorify and embrace for our own selfish satisfaction.

WTF is Jamie Foxx singing for? He's suddenly the voice of black singers, huh? Where's Tina, Aretha, or some soul-type singer? That Jamie Foxx annoys me just a tiny BIT.

Janet touched my soul. And so did this performance. It was the only uncheesy thing Jame did all night.

I guess I'm just too cynical but she really appeared to be acting. I'm not saying she isn't upset, but she just seemed to be putting on.

~~~My thoughts exactly. When someone gets "choked" up but not even slightly teary eyed then I wonder about their sincerity. Like when Chili fake cried when she and TBoz were on stage talking about Left Eye's death, it was so fake that it made me embarrassed for her.
I hope Janet stops w/ the nose jobs. It's borderline freakish.
yeah I got a lil teary-eyed too. I have pretty much avoided this whole thing cuz of the sads (not just his death, but his LIFE, man, his life was fucked), but that was really very touching.
It's hard to comment on the appropriateness of the family being there, because they had to say something, and it was very brief and heartfelt. People have to be allowed to grieve in their own ways.
Agreed on all points.
On a slighty more fun note: I'm really glad they got two black men with their original noses to close that show. That's the best thing so far.
Took me three seconds to cry like a baby. I am seriously shocked. Did not think it could move me at all. People die* every single day and it sucks, whatever their background/fate.
Also, I don't know what the ad above me is for but it looks like "Pedobear" and it is a bit disturbing
I wouldn't be surprised if his passing was almost like when a cancer patient dies. Apparently he was very sickly looking and had many things wrong with him. I bet it wasn't a real shock to any of the family members. It may have even brought some relief from worry.
HE WAS PLUGGING HIS BLU RAY DISKS! His son has been dead for days, and he is PLUGGING STUFF. The guy is fucking evil and he should have carked it not Michael. You can see who turned MJ in the distrubed person that he was. Joe Jackson. Evil piece of shit. Hope he goes soon to sell his blu ray shit in hell!
sure it was nice, but was still fakey.
the way she looked like she was going to cry in front of everyone as they were applauding her entrance. best fucking performance of her life - that still sucked.
she can't act worth a dime.
this is why i stopped going to her concerts years ago - i felt like i was being fucked up the ass by her fakey-ness.
the jackson family is full of fucked up, selfish, egotistical maniacs - why should there be any surprise michael was such a mess? and why would janet be any different from the rest of them? she wants you to believe she's wrapped up in sweetness - but she's not.
I wanted to talk about this last night..but I guess a lot of ppl didn't watch it live...the whole thing at the end was supposed to be a big tribute to Michael but it was just Jamie and neyo...so in comparison the ending was whack because the audience expected Chris brown, Justin timberlake, usher, Whitney Houston or someone...but nah! Janet was very brave and I luv her 4 ever for being able to do just that!
Also rumor is chris brown didn't perform because of jay z....I personally don't think chris brown should be forgiven just yet but that performance would've done MJ more justice IMO
Whatever - none of them should be getting all dolled up in full hair and makeup and attending the BET Awards just days after MJ's passing. This is one sick family. Don't even get me started on that father - that man can rot in hell.
Well, that was the first time I've cried over this mess. I remember, a long time ago, reading that when they first recorded this song, Joe and the Bros were really frustrated with Michael. He was little then and they wanted him to say: "Just look over you shoulder, baby (or hunny - the point is not 'shoulderS"...in the end they just left it. The producer told them - it's ok, it's ok; he's a kid, it'll be cute. I dig that that that's they Ne-Yo said it too.
I have always thought Janet was so talented and has always seemed so sweet. I think she knows her father is a piece of shit and good for her for not walking the red carpet with him. I choked up when I saw her speak because I knew that must have been the hardest thing she has ever had to do. She and her mother are the only ones I feel like aren't out for Michael's money. Honestly, I think she should get the kids because I think she would have their best interests at heart.
Well, except for Joe Jackson, I have no hate for any of this. I think Janet was sincere and I think Jamie and Ne-Yo did a beautiful, understated rendition of I'll Be There, which was perfect for the ending of the show and was a good choice following Janet's words. That song has special meaning for me because I danced with my stepson to it at my wedding.
I was wondering about even bringing this up, but here goes....
I have had so many feelings about the whole pedophile aspect of the comments about Michael Jackson. I probably would be clapping along and agreeing with people who see Michael only in the light of being a probable pedophile, but what happened in my family at the beginning of this year changed me. My sister committed suicide and I have a brother who molested me for years as a child. Until my wedding 16 years ago, after my parents were dead, I never told anyone, but did tell my family just before I married. I thought I would never see my brother again and thought I wouldn't shed a tear if anything happened to him. Well, he showed up at my sisters services in January and I know this is hard to understand, but I was happy to see him. I hugged him and made sure he sat with my sisters and me. Losing my sister changed my feelings and, although my brother caused me much pain, he is also my brother and the thought of losing another sibling, even him, is unbearable. He wasn't just someone that molested me, but was also someone with deep issues from things that happened in his life and he wasn't a 100% bad person. We did have happy times together. I no longer wanted to look at him in only that light.
Now I cannot find myself scoffing at Michael Jackson's memory. I try to remember all the happy memories I have of him entertaining me throughout my life, not just the scandalous or the things I may not understand.
I want to believe that my brother contributed more to my life than he took away and I hope Michael Jackson can be looked at the same way.
I thought the dedication was very touching. Janet was truly heart broken. If anyone listens to Ne-Yo at the beginning of his career, you can hear MJ's influence in his work.
Kudos to them both for being so soft and touching.
Also, the Jackson family knew that the show was about them; I think its nice that they made it to the show. I think the show was pretty f'm bad, but I really got the sense that everyone in the audience was pretty down...just not in the mood at all.
I agree. It's usually about the attention grabbing family/SOs left behind because the lord knows the person who actually died can't give a shit anymore. I mean, they literally can't.
Make it work with what you have people! and excuse me while I go polish the hood ornament thingy on mah bentley.
In other news, right after MJ died, the trash cans that were out on the street were brought in so fuckin fast ... I guess 'they' didn't want people like me rifflin thru the trash and selling it on ebay.
I can't deal with all the hypocritical bitches famous and non-famous...less than a week ago MJ was considered by everyone a ruined has-been freak shunned by everyone particularly those who are coming forth with statements about what a dear friend he was. Now that he is dead everyone admits he is an ICON.
With the exception of Elizabeth Taylor and Quincy Jones, and his family of course (save for Joe Jackson) everyone else coming out of the woodwork is just trying to capitalize on his death for a few headlines. Vadge, Brooke Shields and all the other countless whores who probably had not even spoken to him since the 80s to name a few. Too bad all these statements and homages did not come while he was alive and could actually partake of them.
I am not a fan but can't help but notice the duplicity of all these bitches and the media overall. Please stop and let him rest in peace.
omg - If Farrah's still worried about press from the great beyond, then fuck eternity. If her family gives a fart about it - well, look at the source. Ryan O'Neal and all his children are just as fucked up as the Jackson clan anyways. They're all just proof that money doesn't buy happiness and we should be happy with our layoffs and some measure of normalcy - and to stay off the hard stuff!
If i have to hear one more person say they are sorry for Farrah because she was upstaged in death, I think I'll puke. How much attention do dead celebrities need, for fuck's sake?
Sorry if I sound cunty, but it's a meaningless sentiment, imo.
OR maybe they will like the privacy......maybe not, Ryan needs work and Redmond needs an easy job inside.
You know, as much as I'd like to jump on the Katherine culpability bandwagon, I do think we have to keep in mind time and place and perspective. Until the last 20 yrs ago or so, this shit wasn't even discussed. Reality for women was very different - especially a woman that was poor and a minority. What was she going to do back then with all those babies and no job, etc. She had her "place," and an old school perspective of listen to your man.
Yeah, it's hard to relate to, but man... Let's keep it real.
