Sorry but this doesn't seem to be the real Bubbles. I smelled a rat when I noticed the chimp sanctuary doesn't mention Bubble's former life with Michael Jackson at all. The Daily mail is reporting that MJ's body will be 'plastinated' (things just get weirder and weirder!?) and that the body of Bubbles was plastinated and displayed in the 'bodyworlds' exhibition a number of years ago. Apparently MJ wanted to be reunited with his chimp in death!

I once had a boyfriend who worked a medical research facility. It's a well known place around these parts and they have thousands and thousands of chimps. I visited once and there are just so many. Some in cages like at the zoo and there was this area that was fenced but was the size of a football field, it was HUGE and there were just thousands of monekys running around. They had jungle gyms but they had knocked them over. To view this place ou had to walk up the stair to this little box and some of them were a little mean. I don't think you could actually walk in there so I'm not sure how the doctors or keepers helped them if they got sick.

He never saw anything bad but I couldn't deal with ever working in such a place no matter how many toys they give them or treats. They have to constantly take medications because they have HIV or some other illness. Poor monkeys. But they weren't always nice. Why do moneky'sm like to throw poo?

I always heard Bubbles died from eating chocolate or something. I'd rather believe this. Although: if MJ adopted Bubbles in 1985, the chimp in the link can't be the same one because it says he's born in 1986. Totally cute story on that site though.

Not really. Once chimps hit a certain age they are known to start acting out violently. This is why M.J. had to get rid of him, I am sure it had a lot to do with him having kids. Chimps are ultra protective of their owners and do not like anyone interfering with the bond they have. I would love to work at an animal sanctuary with Chimps and other intelligent species like them. I bet it would be amazing. I never knew M.J. rescued him from a caner research center, thats noble of him and very sad to know that Chimps are used in medical research. Animal testing makes me sick.

I didn't know Bubbles was sent to a sanctuary. That's good. I hope the rest of the animals that were on Neverland Ranch had just as happy of an ending.

I don't think in death you have to deify someone, but I think you can afford them the benefit of the doubt. The truth is that nobody, save MJ and those kids, knows what really happened. I actually never thought he did it - - I thought that some bitches were taking advantage of him and trying to get at his money. Sure, I'd bet he was weird and had an inappropriately close relationship with these children, but 1) their parents allowed it and 2) there has never been any real proof that it was a sexual relationship. Only speculation.

I also have a major case of the sads. I think this poor guy's whole life was a tragedy in many ways. I was saying to the bf last night - it's like he was given everything (beautiful voice, a body that could dance the way his did, opportunity, money, stardom) and yet nothing (no close friends, no stability at home, no childhood) all at the same time.

Anyway, that all prob. doesn't belong in a HSOTD post, but I didn't really say my piece yesterday.

It's not an issue about MJ getting sick of Bubbles, chimps become extremely aggressive as they become sexually mature. A chimp can kill a grown man if it wants to. People who keep primates as pets often find them a cute novelty when they are young, but most give them up as they reach maturity because of behavior "problems", aka the animal doing what it would in the wild.
