And my two cents for what it's worth on the forum... I don't get it and I don't want to pretend to. Event Horizon:
Every case really is different. It depends on how the person that handles your case feels that day. Once you get certain German papers (tax ID, proof of residence, health insurance, etc), it is harder for them to make you leave, so they will basically extend your tourist visa and give you some more months to find a job.
If you have over a certain amont of money in your bank account and someone can vouch for your independent status, then your case is greatly helped.
But I live in Berlin, where there is a VERY high unemployment rate, so don't come here looking for a job.
