Question. Legally, can I ground my 13 year old son until he's 42?

I also have a 13-yr-old (with 8 years in between him and his older sister) I forgot what a pain teenagers can be.
He is still rather "innocent" and I think I may have babied him too much compared to his older siblings.
But I refuse to let him smart off to me.
Most of the time he is a pretty cool kid.
No video games or anything like that, he likes to work on cars, tinker with tractors, and build treehouses.

It was my family doc who kept boosting the meds. His reason: I still craved chocolate so I must still have had a serotonin imbalance. WTF????

The psych got me off the meds. I'm better than I was on the meds. At least, I no longer feel lobotomized.

Considering what happened with the first psych for me, I'd say even go above your psych's head and ask your regular physician first--some of those psychs are all about making the money while the pills do the work, and that ain't right.

I shudder to say this but here goes.

After over forty years of non-sexual mental abuse by my father, he died and I lost it.

My family doc put me on meds for depression. At the end of three years my daily pill intake was 925 mg of Effexor-XR, 90 mg of Buspar, 1 mg of Xanax, 20 mg of Ambien, and 40 mg of Nexium.

My psychologist was stunned when she found out and transferred to a psychiatrist. He told me that I did not need any of these meds. He then told me that I could quit them outright but I would end up in a mental hospital completely psychotic OR I could be weaned off of them over a year's time. Needless to say, I took the long road.

Now, I only take the Nexium because all those other meds ruined my stomach.

My point: Do not take psych meds without first consulting a psychiatrist and then monitor them very carefully.

I was given Effexor-XR when I was a teenager but I felt exploited taking it so I stopped...I went to see a psychiatrist and on my first visit I told him my woes and he listened as intently as a brick wall, said nothing, and afterward handed my a prescription for some pills. I stopped taking them after a week and switched psychs. Got a guy who really listened, talked, and wasn't so eager to put me on pills.

Your mom! Please help me understand. What is so great about having a pic of you and your man kissing? No offense, and I don't know why, but I just don't like looking at pics of people sucking face. Maybe I'm juss old fashioned thet way.

Therapy doesn't work for my crazy ass either. I'm learning to change the way I think of myself and my life in a positive way by controlling my thinking and my feelings. It's hard as hell, but very empowering.

Zoloft didn't make me eat more, it just made me extremely lethargic. I never wanted to go out or do anything. I slept a lot. I wasn't very social. So yeah, it made me feel like a total zombie. I'd rather be a little crazy than feel like that. And honestly, if working out a few hours a day can keep my depression away, I'd rather stick to that solution.

I was on a type of anti-depressant for stress management a few times and I think it helped me LOSE weight. I just wasn't hungry.
I am not good at taking pills daily. I pretty much only remember to take my vitamins twice a week. I used to be so good and took them at least 5 days a week. I need a new routine or something.

snowy, YES. If you miss a day, you get so nauseous! I am lucky- after 15 years, I am still only on the starter pill of 20 mgs......works just fine for me.

Do NOT start/stop taking meds without a dr's help. That is all.

sometimes i do feel like i'm still depressed and should go back on. then i smoke a bowl and that helps.

but i always had really bad reactions when i took it, then i smoked a bowl, then drank. it would make me pass the fuck out. like stand up, black out, wake up on the floor shit! i could only do two of the three, but all three together- not good. then everyone thought i was a fucking lightweight.

WTF i was on paxil through highschool and most of college, but they told me it was not a 'long term drug' so i had to get off it. no fair!!!

i still have some in the bottle, but it's only enough so that it would start working, then i'd be out :(

I fear things are rather grim from the various news reports coming out this afternoon.

I have been on Paxil for 15 years, and I never have had any weight gain. It seems so strange to me when I hear about people gaining weight from an anti-depressant.

I didn;t gain any weight when I was on the Pill either.

even if you and your daughter can wear the same size, you would not really have the same shape. jrs jeans are not cut for a womans body!! -no ass, too low of rise, probably the wrong washes and/or weird tacky (gasp! sorry) details. like glitter, or rhinestones. also, if you dress your age, instead of trying to look younger by wearing jrs clothes, which actually makes you look older and trying to hard, you will end up looking younger but still grown up and appropriate. -not that you do that, just saying.
