Pun intended. I'm honestly going to push the Cup-O-Needles I was planning to have for lunch to the side and gulp down a large vodka without the ice (it gets in the way) instead. You'll do the same after reading the mess Fox 11 (via TMZ) got a hold of.
Notes from detectives on the case state that the fight started when RiRi read a three-page long text message from some chick to Chris Brown. The two started fighting about the text and Chris tried to push her out of the car, but her seat belt got in the way. The notes go on to say that he pushed her head into the passenger window and began punching her while he was driving. Oh, he's a fucking multi-tasker.
Chris allegedly told her that he was going to beat her even more when they got home. After that, RiRi called her assistant and told her to have the cops waiting at home. That prompted Chris to say, "You just did the stupidest thing ever. I'm going to kill you." How fucking charming. It's like a kiss.
The notes also state that Chris continued to beat at her, bite her and put her in a headlock. When cops showed up, there was blood all over the car on her clothes.
It's been reported that since RiRi has gone back into his loving arms, she won't testify against him. But TMZ says that she told cops this wasn't her first time at the Chris Brown beat down rodeo. She said he had gotten psychical in the past, but the violence was getting worse.
Today in court, Chris was charged with two felonies: assault and making a criminal threat. He could face up to 9 years of ass fucking in the clink if convicted on both charges. He's supposed to be arraigned this afternoon.
And now I'm off to find a basket of baby bunnies to cuddle with. Seriously, every Chris Brown/RiRi story should come complete with something from Cute Overload.

Well said, and I totally agree. A family member of mine was in the same situation, and we stood by her but felt helpless. It was only after many broken bones that she finally woke up. I wouldn't wish that kind of life on anyone.

Jail time for domestic assault is a joke. My ex broke my nose and cracked my eye socket in two places. I didn't press charges because I was young and dumb. He only got one year in county and was out in 5 months. Chris will probably get the same sentence and won't even do time because he's a celebrity.

In no particular order:
1. Rihanna and Chris both deal in constructed images of "neo-blackness." He's a cool guy (a new-age pimp) and she's a a 'good girl gone bad.' In the 60's, she would have been sportin' a fro and working for freedom - just a good girl. Now, I guess, there is nothing left to fight for except for your abusive man/pimp. Well there is more to fight for, but why respect yourself when there is, as the group A Tribe Called Quest states in one of their songs, "ho's to be laid/bills to be paid..." Everyone involved is yet to be 'paid in full' a la Eric B and Rakhim. Until such a time as full payment is rendered, all ya'll need to put up with the abuse. Write the tell all in 10 years, when nobody gives an eff about Brown. Right?
2. For all who think this f'd up mentality is simply confined to music videos, think again. I'm not claiming to know what Chris, Jay-Z and the rest are thinking, but images in black urban culture suggest the manatee holds more status than black women. This music genre continues to circulate the pimp mentality that black men own black women; that black women are beholden to black men; that black men and women have to stick together against 'the man' or whoever else is out there...look closely and the enemy is often closer than your own life vein; and, as with many abusive relationships, that life will eat you up outside the confines of the abusive context. As in: 'if you think this beat down is bad, wait until you see what happens down the road or out there in the big bad world. Don't give the bros a bad name, now.' Oh, and Diddy has some free clothes and stuff for you. You know, smooth things over...make it all better...
3. RiRi will not rock the boat or she'll be pushed overboard in more ways than one. And when you spend your life building a pretty image (make no mistake, Brown went after her moneymaker face for a reason) you gotta keep it all going. I think 3-6 Mafia kind alluded to this...It's hard out there for a pimp (and a pimpette). Pimp on RiRi, but remember that it can be hard to back-peddle from the various conflicting images and messages you are sending out to the public. I'd say the spokeswhores are calling the shots...
4. RiRi was likely given a gentle (don't want to dole out back-to-back beatings) talking to. Remember who pays your bills...don't air out black folks' dirty laundry...keep the police outta this and don't be snitchin...it'll all be okay...the good lord will provide...it's between Chris & his God...and his mom...and his pastor...but not the DA, cuz he's out to get Chris, who really loves RiRi, that's why he gave her a love tap and reminded her that death is def an option here
5. Death is a possibility for RiRi. Not just as a victim/partner in a cycle of abuse, but also because she will be seen to have damaged Brown's image. She snitched. Death can be DIRECT (and many a sister who has entered a dust up with a male athlete/entertainer/estranged partner has ended up six feet under...the stories are indeed reported, but the focus is on the subtle fear of black male crime, while the victim gets lost in the haze of fear) or it can be INDIRECT, as in kill the career...depression and substance abuse set in...media image falters...cycle of self abuse goes round and round, until "accidental" death/suicide....here's looking at HoHan a few years down the road.
6. Enough with the fake images of black male and female sexuality. Tired of it all. RiRi and Brown are tired of it, but it pays well. Beyonce's tired too. You can see it, with every shake of her ass, fling of her hair and point of the ring finger.

That's why the charges are regular assault and making criminal threats. The penalties for domestic violence, unfortch, are much stronger than regular assault. Still, the DA has assigned the prosecution to a domestic violence deputy DA, because of the overlapping issues.

i was in an emotionally/mentally, sometimes physically abusive relationship and if i tried to talk to any of my friends about it they wouldn't believe me, they would just say "no way, your bf is such a nice guy, he's awesome"...no one would listen to me, his friends or my friends...they thought he could do no wrong, because he was such a "nice guy".

I just have to say that I can't stand people who say she deserved it. What the hell do they mean? She just read a text message of his, for God's sake. If she did even more than that, such as verbally assaulting him, she certainly did not deserve to have her life threatened or beat to a bloody pulp.
There is a thing called self-restraint that should have been used in this situation. I just watched the TMZ video clip of Geragos and Fenty's lawyers standing at the podium with Butcher Brown.
When the feed was streaming live, the defense lawyers were caught on mic explaining their confidential defense strategy to Brown. Never talk off-record near an open mic.
I just read the police report of the attack...it is so much worse that I previously heard it was, plus, it was so much worse than I imagined.

TMZ says Brown was emotionless as the judge admonished him to not fuck with anybody in any way. Got to love the emotionless part. Unless he's getting assraped in prison he has no feelings for anyone or anything. Emotionless to me also implies remorseless.
