Sarah Welch Is Suing Over This
You might remember this AMAZING!!!1!!! (KOTD, see below) clip of Sarah Welch from The Bachelor falling through a hole in the catwalk during a runway show on October 18, 2007. Well, the ho is suing over it.
TMZ says Sarah filed a lawsuit in Santa Monica court claiming she suffered injuries to her body and nervous system from the fall. Bitch is suing for negligence and wants cash!
That hole in the catwalk is pretty big, but the black hole in Sarah's head is even fucking bigger. This dumb bitch! I mean, what nervous system?
In related news, I just filed a lawsuit against Sarah Welch in the court of foolios, because I busted a McRib from laughing so hard at her stupid ass falling in that hole. I am seeking at least 4 items from the dollar menu as damages.

Michael K failed to mention exactly WHO she is suing, and TMZ just states it's "several companies". That's what pisses me off - she perfectly well should punish who ever is responsible for the pathetic little runway show, but to state in her suit (as I'm sure it does) that she was wearing Gucci or Prada, and therefore Gucci and Prada is responsible, is ridiculous.

Well, in the model's defense the hole was very close to the corner she turned around when she entered the catwalk. Models must keep their heads up, looking out and over the audience. Because the hole was so close to her she would not have seen it. I can't believe no one stopped the show. That was negligent. She could have hurt way more than her pride.
This is prolly a valid lawsuit unless they made her sign a release beforehand, as they should have done. Or maybe she gets workers' comp only?

What the hell kind of ghetto fashion show/runway is this anyway? That would have never happened during a Prada show...I know there is a lot of noise & other shit going on backstage, but nobody caught word immediately that the crazy ninja dude broke a hole in the runway? That seems odd to me.
She is sooo skinny it looked like she just slipped through & was more scared than anything else. Why is she suing 2 years later? Is she still tramatized? I feel like suing would have been a more viable option if the hole wasnt made moments before she stepped out or if it was faulty & just broke under her feet or something more substantial...She just wants money, but she should try working for it, ya know the old fashioned way. If she is a model then she possibly has the opportunity to make tons of money doing minimal work anyway.

Yes, I know the case well. The money wasn't "awarded back," her award was reduced by the judge because yes, she was shown to have SOME liability. However, most of it fell on McDonald's, and the eventual settlement was not disclosed. Of course, Stella Liebeck, the plaintiff, originally only tried to get medical costs from McDonald's, and only sued after they basically told her to fuck off. McDonald's admitted they brewed the coffee far above the temperature at which humans can safely consume it, and really was legally liable for a lot of damages, though the official amount is undisclosed. I only brought it up cause everyone and their dog references it as an example of frivolous lawsuits and the need for tort reform when really, the case had a lot of merit...as this one might, depending on how badly injured this woman is.

Im afraid i have to agree. its pretty obvious that models do the head up chin up thing like you said, its part of the act- and Im pretty sure they deliver this service trusting that someone whose job it is to NOT pose will let them know if the floor is absent.
I did like this version of the tape, though, you can see how the hole got there, from the performer at the beginning when he flips and lands on his back.

Anyone walking the runway doesn't normally do it with their head down. It's head up, chin up, and no way for her to have seen the hole.

I guess that's not really peripheral vision, though, but more likely a general sense of awareness to the things around you.
