Cojo was the belle of the ball last night! Or maybe he was the ball of the belle? BOTH! You know, during my drunk blogging rant last night, I said that the theme of the Oscars was anal beads. And look what is hanging between precious Cojo's voluptuous chichis: anal beads by Chanel! By the end of the night, those Chanel beady beads were having a prostate party in Cujo's culo. When he pulled them out, they were the colors of the rainbow. I'm pretty sure that's how Skittles are made.

Morning rant/vent/spew/diatribe:
Not so long ago there was discussion about living in a small town/living in a big city ~ pros and cons to both. My problem is that wherever you live, no one is safe anymore.
On Sunday afternoon, a very sweet young man, 29 years-old Gas Station Attendant was shot to death for no reason at all. Apparently, it was a gang initiation. Two young cowards, wannabe thugs and gangstas killing someone who did what they asked, he gave them the money and shot him in the head anyway. Where's the conscience and empathy for each other? Where is good sense and compassion? Where is the sanity?
This is beyond comprehension, beyond my ability to speak.
The fuckers shot him in the head and while he was dying, he still pushed the panic button. The cops got there in no time, and poor Danny died on the scene.
I've known hims for 12 years and used to tell him that 'he was the only person I knew that talked more than me, I love you, shut the fuck up'. He would laugh and say he knew.
I hope they catch these gang related fuckers and string them up by their pubescent balls and fry their mother fucking asses.
This is a small town. Gangs are everywhere. With the economy the way it is, things are going to get worse.
This not only frightens me, it saddens me to know that we are in a world where no one is safe.

I suspect your enthusiasm might reignite after you've graduated and aren't *required* to write and aren't being graded on it. And knowing how to write well is *never* a negative thing, no matter what fields you decide to investigate.
In the meantime, you've got your singing and whatever else you want to try out once you've finished up with school. There's a lot to be said for being commitment- and obligation-free with nothing but options ahead of you. :)
I hope you have a hella good time at SXSW, and can't wait to hear your report to everyone here when you get back.
Time to log off for the night here...need to rest up for a day of mind-numbing meetings tomorrow. Falling asleep during them is in bad form, especially since they're public meetings.

CityPaper is still up and running so when I'm done with my story, I may submit it to them. And my primary adviser's husband is a reviewer for the Inquirer and I thought about submitting to Icon, too. It's an arts magazine. So far I've only had my journalism published in school papers, so it's cool you actually did it for real! And it sounds like you had a great time doing it. Man, I wish I still had the same enthusiasm for it I had when I started, lol. Now, I couldn't be bothered.

Mid-80's through early 90's...born in Philly, raised in S Jersey, but there really wasn't anything happening music-wise unless you crossed the river. Definitely one of the times of my life, and not a single regret to be found. :) Wrote interviews and did band reviews for CityPaper and the M.A.P.P. monthly (Musicians/Artists/Poets/Players Organization)--the latter was a indie industry group that sponsored business seminars, and held competitions that offered studio time to the winning performers. It paid bupkus, so I had a real full-time job and just did the music scene on the side, but it was big fun and I met some great people.
WRT the musician, you're spot on--it is much better to just play with 'em for a bit, and then you don't have to support 'em. I've always had a bit of a weakness for singer/songwriters, though...

Yeah, I'm a singer so the SXSW thing could be good for me to schmooze with fellow musicians, network, make some contacts, etc. And I believe you about the dating a musician thing, hence why I said hook up...as in a couple of nights, lol. I refuse to support anybody when I can barely support myself. Plus, the guy's a major flake so I wouldn't expect him to stay committed for long.

Barbary, so many little dives on South Street...
Hey, even if you don't want to go into journalism anymore, you still might make some good contacts at SXSW for other ventures. As for the hooking up with a particular musician...all I can say is be prepared to be the breadwinner in the mix, and the responsible one as well. Trust on the last two...though I can't say it wasn't worth it!
