Any ovaries you had just shriveled up in fright and it probably took your uterus with it. Fuck, I think I grew ovaries just so they could dry up in terror. This is some LITTLE SHOP OF HORROR'S shit! And don't even make me think of what her stomach looks like after. It's probably a million light years beyond FOPA (fat over pubic area). It's probably SOKA (skin over knee area). Remind me to never EVER have eight kids.

i can vouch for catholic charities going above and beyond to help those in need...those nuns are serious about treating ailing people...i have a family member with alzheimer's in a catholic run facility...it is amazing...the whole staff including the housekeepers go out of their way to help the little memaws and pepaws and their families

I agree with you. But NORMAL human beings are not the problem here. Our laws (in the US) are generally enacted and designed to protect the majority of law-abiding citizens from the minority of law-breaking citizens. Yes, fitting someone with an IUD against their will would never fly in the US, and frankly, I wouldn't be for it either -- I don't want the government up in my sex bidness.
But putting more restrictions on in-vitro is not going to stop the MUCH LARGER problem of millions of completely unfit parents popping out kids every day and expecting our government (or private citizens) to support them. Not to mention the environmental problems of overpopulation. I guess I don't know what the answer is. All the sex ed and free condoms in the world are not going to prevent idiots from having children... and once they're here, you can't punish the parents, because "what about the poor helpless children?" So we're stuck picking up the tab for mother AND child for the next 18 years.
I am just sick to death of feeling as though I'm being punished for being responsible -- I don't have kids because I can't afford them. I get up and go to work every day (as does my husband), pay our bills on time, pay my student loans... all while watching seemingly everyone around me pop out kids left and right and get their checks in the mail every month. Would I like an adorable little baby? Sure! But I can't afford it, so I have an IUD!
This woman is living proof that not all pregnant women are beautiful. This is downright ugly.

I have mentioned on another thread that I spent my best years working for a non-profit social services agency which feeds a MINIMUM of 1,500-2,000 free meals per day, closes on 13 days per year( New Year's Day and one day per month for a Public Health Dept. deep cleaning.) and also has a small free clinic. Also available are job, housing & rehab referral AND two full service day centers for the homeless or nearly so. Men and women can get clothing, shoes, diapers, formula,carseats, toiletry kits,clothing and shoes for children up to age of 17, take ESL classes, attend AA or NA meetings and get job training,take showers & use the free laundry, get
therapy if needed, AND NEVER HAVE TO REPAY A DAMNED THING. All of this is done without city, county, state, or Federal money. Donations only. Even PART_TIME workers received medical benefits for TEN DOLLARS PER MONTH. Neurosurgery, including a week in the hospital, cost me $100.00 plus medications.
This is a ROMAN CATHOLIC Agency, I was an active RC lay minister, and I put my money where my mouth was. We ALL did. Any of the mothers here who are experiencing financial problems ARE ENTITLED TO HELP FROM RC ORGANIZATIONS REGARDLESS OF FAITH OR LACK THEREOF. SAME FOR ANY OTHER PERSON IN DIRE STRAIGHTS. The Vatican frowns upon birth control, abortion,euthanasia and the dealth penalty. Dogma requires that we offer all the help we can to anyone in need, ESPECIALLY mothers with children.

My older brother is my parents' biological child. Then, believing themselves unable to have more children, they adopted me. Six years later, they had my little brother, also a bio-son and a total surprise.
We've had a number of conversations about adoption, people having kids who shouldn't, multiple births and IVF, etc. I used to think that it was obscene to even consider IVF as long as there were children in this world that needed homes. Then I learned the hard cold reality that adoption has become in the years since my parents got me.
In 1971, they paid $275 in fees to the county welfare agency through which they adopted me. I don't think their lawyer charged very much, either. We are mutually astounded and disgusted by how much adoption costs these days. A lot of it is legal fees, lots of paperwork to make sure that the birth mother can't come back and try to take the baby, but adoption has essentially turned into baby brokering. It is fantastically expensive, whether domestic or international. In contrast, IVF is less expensive. That's all kinds of messed up right there.
It does seem that the world is filled with people having kids, people who are either unwilling, unready, or unable (or unfit). A family member by marriage is a good example of this. Young and dumb, he hooked up with a psycho bitch who'd already had 5 or 6 children, had those same children taken away by the state, and she and he fought like cats and dogs. Naturally, she got pregnant (I'm not sure any conscious decision to have a baby was made).
They now have a beautiful 3-year-old who is a complete shit. She is not restrained or disciplined in any way. When we saw her at Thanksgiving, she raised up her little foot and tried to stomp on my sister-in-law's puppy (fortunately, she was caught and stopped). They still hate each other. Sister-in-law briefly considered adopting the little girl when she was born, then realized that it would require the father to have no contact with her, and that would be very awkward. Plus, the mother was just the kind of psycho bitch who would mentally fuck with the little girl and tell her, "I'm your REAL mommy!"
In short, this little girl would have been better off with almost anyone than her biological parents (my husband and I also discussed the possibility of adopting her).
I'm beyond disgusted by Nadya Suleman. I can't imagine the karma in store for her. I'm sadly unsurprised by the media fawning over her.
And how appropriate that one of the top news stories is a woman having far more babies than she can afford, when we're about to have this horrible "stimulus" package that will put our children's children's children into debt forever and ever, amen.
P.S. Sorry for the soapbox but this is something I've got a bit of passion about.

One girl's essay, which I LOVED, basically said that every male should be given a vasectomy at age 6 or so (as they're reversible) and every female given an IUD at age 12 or 13. One would have to apply, and have one's application approved by a panel of doctors, psychologists, etc., for the process to be reversed -- similar to the applications you have to go through to ADOPT a child (or a fucking dog, for that matter!)

One more thing, this woman is a true con artist. She claimed she belonged to the Calvary Chapel Golden Springs Church and that they would help her. The Church released a statement saying they had no idea who she was. What bugs me is why she picked this church. It's very close to where I grew up, and it's actually a large church that recently underwent a major, very modern renovation (cha-ching, cha-ching). It's in a decently moneyed suburb of LA and it doesn't surprise me that she tried to claim membership here rather than some run of the mill church closer to her home.
She's completely damaged her belly. There's no bouncing back from that. Even with surgery, her skin's been stretched to the limit. Seriously speaking, the threat of stretch marks and saggy boobs stopped me from having more than 2 kids. It was hard enough getting myself back from that. Sick, sick, sick, this one.

I heard she was collecting disability for herself UNTIL she got pregnant. Once she got pregnant, the disability checks stopped. My hubby thinks that if she could carry 8 babies, then she could have worked all those years (I agree), so he is hoping they will do an investigation on her for disability fraud and make her pay it all back. The really gross thing for me (besides her general behavior, of course), is that you can see the line at which the skin structure just started to rupture completely. The whole front of her belly is essentially a great big mass of scar tissue. Ow ow ow.
The Suleman octoplets DO NOT need baby supplies. They are being fed and diapered by the hospital with food and diapers that, whether you want to or not, you are supplying since Nadya is unable to pay the bill and the hospital has applied for government aid.

When they are discharged they will not go unfed, unsheltered or unclothed if you don't send their mother any handouts. She is aware of the programs that she can use (and has used) to get assistance. Donations are called for in instances where families who have high order multiples earn too much money to qualify for government aid. If you want to help then do something to fix the system that allowed this to happen. Someone also mentioned making donations to the hospital which is nice because there are surely babies in need there that are not getting one tenth of the publicity that that the Suleman babies are.

I know it was supposed to be satire, but I thought that was a seriously great idea! Particularly since it seems like most people who shouldn't have kids don't really want them anyway -- they get pregnant accidentally and figure there's not much else going on in their lives, so what the hell, why not?
What gets me the most is the apparent ease of being implanted with 8 fetuses vs. the adoption process. My aunt and her husband adopted a baby girl from China 10 years ago, but they STARTED the adoption process about 17 years ago! It ended up costing them almost $30,000 (in Clinton dollars). Another couple I knew tried to adopt a child from Haiti... they ended up getting rejected because they were both about 40 pounds overweight. WTF? So a kid is better off in a Haitian orphanage than living with a pleasantly plump couple? And meanwhile, ignorant trash all over this country are popping out kids like there's no tomorrow. No justice, I say!
