Again, Billie sang the song first, and she also died before Etta sang the song. I have a huge collection of Billie Holiday's music and she also covered the song, and covered it FIRST. Several people covered the song is my point, so how can Etta say it's HER song? Gershwin, like many other composers/writers WROTE and composed the song.

Secondly, Etta was nothing but a one hit wonder. Without googling, name another song by Etta James? Can't think of any, can you?

hey, i was at this show in seattle and she did say she wanted to beat beyonce's ass, twice. at the time it was funny but ultimately i loved beyonce's version of "at last" at the inauguration. maybe they picked her over etta because she's young and beautiful, but that's the industry. the song still moved me to tears, and i figured i'd cry a ton at etta's show. but for $50-80 a ticket, etta was belligerent, sang five songs, and let the audience sing most of one. i'll take her in the '60s, and beyonce today.
