By now you've heard the story about the lady, who isn't a Duggar, that popped out 8 babies in a matter of minutes. These bitches are her doctors. They look smiley, but I'm not smiling. When the news first broke a few days ago, I figured the 8 BABIES!!! were part of a natural miracle. Not really. You see, the unidentified woman's mommy said her daughter had 8 embryos implanted last year. When when found out she was having a six-pack plus two, doctors gave her the option to reduce the number. The woman said fuck no.
This is where it gets a little Strangey McStrange. The woman with the bionic uterus is only 33 years old and she already has 6 kids including twins (ages 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7) at home. This brings her grand total to 14!!!! The chick is single and there hasn't been much mention of the octuplets' daddy. CBS says that the bitch filed for bankruptcy about a year-and-a-half ago. She left the house she was living in and moved into her parents' Whittier, CA (shout out to my SGV homies!) home.
The baby machine's mommy, Angela Suleman, said that all 8 babies are healthy. She said that raising 14 kids in their "big house" will be hard, but Angela's husband is going back to his native Iraq to work as a contractor so he can support all 18 trillion kids.
This is boggling my mind. The woman is 33, single, living with her parents and now has 14 kids?! 8 of which she brought into this world knowing her situation?! Calgon take this bitch to the nearest loony bin! Yeah, we don't know the whole story, but DAMN!
You know what's going to happen next? Move over Duggars, Jon & Kate, there's a new bitch (and her 14 kids) pulling up to TLC town!!!

For those who don't live in So. Calif., the mother is getting tons of donations from the public - from expensive strollers, to clothing to blankets. It's insane. Despite what we think, she's going to be OK. People are going to help her out no matter what and because her husband is going to Iraq, makes people want to donate more... trust me. She'll be fine.

Yeah, I'm in my 30's now and I've never had any baby urges as of yet. And I don't foresee any. The only times I've ever even considered it, it's always been in an intellectualized way like "Is this something that I want to do?" and not even remotely emotional. And I always conclude that it's not the kind of life that would work for me. But who knows? Maybe in five years I'll change my mind, although I highly doubt it.
My point being I have no understanding of this "must have a baby!" urges that I hear women get.
Adopting DOGS on the other hand, makes me absolutely giddy.

But I can assure you it's some powerful stuff. I always planned on having children, but it wasn't a big deal. Sometime after I turned 30, it started. Not as bad as some women, but damn, I wanted a BAYBAY! It was as real as being hungry or thirsty or horny.

I too find this story disturbing on many levels.
While I have sympathy for people who are unable to conceive, the whole IVF thing is out of control.
NO ONE seems to consider the unintended consequences of these procedures. People like this woman, CELEBRITIES...who are being ALLOWED to mess with the NATURAL BALANCE OF NATURE with no accountability...
In my lowly opinion, the most culpable are the clinics and doctors who have marginal or no ethics and are being ALLOWED to continue to run amok, massaging the egos of their clients while getting rich with no concern or consideration for our economy, the emotional/medical consequences of the children, adding more people to a world already overcrowded, I could continue for pages...

Adoption is not a viable for solution for everyone.
In Australia it is incredibly difficult to adopt. The entire process takes about 8 years if you want to adopt within th country and (at the time I looked into it 12 years ago) O/S just was not an easy thing to do with govt laws and support services etc. IVF was the surest path to having children, partially covered by Govt medical and mostly covered by Private Insurance.
Strangley, when I wound up in Canada , it would have been a fairly simple procedure to adopt from OS - but by the time I decided to stay permanently and married hubby, I was deemed too old, and was unwillingly to invest emotionally.
