We Have A New President, But I Can't Stop Staring At Diane Feinstein's Hair
Posting is on hold because I'm watching this inauguration stuff while eating one of my last bags of Mother's Circus Animal Cookies. They are extra good if you crush them down in a bowl, pour milk over them and sprinkle some sugar on top for an extra KICK. Anyway, Barack Obama is now the HBIC of the United States! But I seriously couldn't stop staring at Diane Feinstein's hair. My friend IMed with, "Did Ann Miller come down from heaven to host this shit?" I think Diane's hair was St. Angie's inspiration for that shit she wore on her head yesterday. I just had to share that thought since my dog yawned at me when I told him. You can do the same thing.

You guys don't get it. If your family was suffering economically, but you, (or a brother or sister) decided to wed, or were having a baby, would YOU decide not to have a wedding, or showers? This inauguration is not just for Americans, it's for the WORLD to see.
We needed a happy break from the Bush years. As I said before, the cost of this inauguration is small in comparison to the benefits it will give.
How many people who busted their asses to line the Mall in DC are struggling themselves? Yet I saw nothing but jubuilent, happy people.
President Obama's policies will help us all. People NEED ritual and grandeur when it comes to government and in many cases, religion

In my unimportant opinion, it would be refreshing if a President would forgo all of the fanfare and use the money that he/she was spending on an inaugural gala and give it to charities instead. Spend that money on the people and causes that elected them in the first place.
Well it certainly shouldn't be taxpayers!! The entire campaign was over the top and so is this. We are in a global recession - it would be wise to scale back. Oh the hypocrisy, only 3 months ago we had to hear about Palin's wardrobe costs! But no one blinks an eye at this shit. For the price of this shing ding - he BETTER change shit for the better. I'm scared to death that we might just see more of this over the top spending!

I appreciate where you're coming from, too. I just believe that we all need a celebration, and a rededication to working together to improve this country.
Tell the older black people, who have lived through the pain of segregation and oppression that Barak Obama doesn't deserve all the bells and whistles. Tell the people who have more hope than money, that "all this fuss" was not worth it. We as a nation NEED a celebration in the midst of all the challenges we face.
