Farewell, Ricardo Montalban
Ricardo Montalban has gone off to the Fantasy Island called heaven at the age 88. Radar reports that he passed away from natural causes at his home called Casa Montalban in Los Angeles at 6:30am this morning.
Ricardo's wife of 63 years just passed away last year. Ricardo's son-in-law told Radar that he was with his daughter and nurses at the time of his death.
I will forever love Ricardo for giving me the gift of Khan in Star Trek II. Amazingly hot. Click here to see a picture of him in that. The Academy should give him an honorary award this year for that performance alone.
Rest in peace, Ricardo... Now you can be with Tattoo forever!

His wife, Georgiana Young de Montalbán died on November 13, 2007, at the age of 84. He probably died of a broken heart.

Good humor. There were just certain commercials in the 70s that became part of pop culture. I don't watch broadcast tv anymore, but I don't think the commercials today have the same impact--back then there were only three tv channels to watch...
On another commercial a nature-loving guy named eull gibbons said "Ever ate a pine tree? Some parts are edible..." Boy did that phrase have legs.
Then there was the 'famous' movie star, rula lenska, selling hair shampoo, and of course nobody had ever heard of her.

I was born in '85, and I know the Corinthian leather reference, because my dad has this ridiculous obsession that whenever someone says the word leather, he has to ask "But is it fine Corinthian leather?" in the accent. Real nerdy humor, but I love it.

They say that when two people are together for a long time, and one dies, the other usually dies soon after. My grandmother was very healthy and still strong for someone in their seventies. As soon as my grandfather died, she had two heart attacks within months of each other. It's as if they can't go on without the other person. Sad :(

I worked with a guy named kirk back in the day, and everytime he walked by I wanted to put my hand out like a claw and say "kiiiirk, kiiiirk!" In the fashion of khan.
Kirk didn't find it nearly as amusing as I did--as he hadn't seen the movie, but he took the abuse well.
Yeah, that 'rich, corinthian leather' for car seats was much joked about when I was a teenager in the 70s. Kind of an obscure cultural reference for the youngsters here.

One of the last true leading men out there. A gentleman and a solid actor.
