as a former employee of TWC Dallas,(Nov 2008) I can truelly say that Time Warner truely does suck, if you think that the programming is bad, try working for them.

I just called at 11:44 NYC time and the recording said they've reached an agreement. The channels will be aired on Time Warner. Thank God. I think I would of said "FUCK YOU" to them and went to Satellite TV.....son of a bitches, my bill is already 140.00 per month, now they want to deduct channels....WTF? Greedy bastards, this pisses me off. If I could live without cable I would totally shut my damn account down today. But I would die w.out watching cable. Basic TV sucks ass.

I tried to do that. Unfortunately in Dallas, where I live, my apartment building is ONLY serviced by those fucks, Time Warner. I hate them.

My friend in San Diego has Uverse and I LOVE IT. I mean, as you scroll down the guide you see what is playing and exactly what part it is on. Genius.

MK I don't know about Charm School but Three's Company you can download (and have saved forever on your computer), Colbert can be viewed at Hulu (you'll have to lvie with the annoying ads) or at ComedyCentral.com and that Double Shot crap can be watched over at MTV.com (they allow you to watch all of their shows online. I don't know why VH1 doesn't do the same). So don't worry you won't go completely without.

What kind of movies are you downloading? They're ripping you off. A quality DVDRip is 700mb, a one hour show is 300 and a half hour show is between 100-200.

I'll agree that you can get most cable tv shows on the internet I did that for a while but you have to wait for someone to upload it and you'll usually see it days after everyone else. Plus they don't have shows from companies like Bravo or BBCAmerica. If you want the Real Housewives or Top Chef you'll have to download it from iTunes and that's money. Network shows you're guaranteed to get, but shows off cable (MTV, Comedy Central) you won't. You can watch it on MTV.com or Comedy Central on Hulu but quaity is usually subpar.

I don't really like too much reality TV, so this shit doesn't bother me one bit, but I think Time Warner has a good point when they say that Viacom and the demon media mogul Sumner Redstone just want to keep their profits up so they don't have to liquidate stocks. (Sumner owns Viacom, CBS and Paramount! He is 85 and the #86 richest a-hole at 9 billion!) It seems like the economy has made them lose advertising revenue.

Simple Answer: Switch to AT&T U-Verse Those bitches rule. None of my shit is being fucked with. I pay $100 for both cable (I have the 300 package) and internet and they gave me a deal, if I upgraded to the fastest internet (18mbps, it's actually faster but shh! don't tell them that) they'd give me $20 off each month and free HBO or something.

Plus I can watch my DVR from anywhere in my house on any of my recievers. And I can record 4 programs at once.

If you switch to their phone service and cell service your monthly will go down as well but Sprint has me held hostage until July so I can't switch until then,but as soon as that crap finally ends (after 9 long years) I'm switching no matter what kind of crap they try to offer me.

As for Viacom and Time Warner, fuck em! Viacom sucks because they won't release my favorite shows on DVD (bastards) and Time Warner well they've always sucked. At least when they were Paragon or whatever that company was called, they were okay.

Time Warner has been screwing with everyone for months. For the psat 4 months I've been hearing people at ABC bitch about how Time Warner's screwing with them and those customers will no longer get to see Grey's and Desperate Housewives. Why don't all you guys just tell them to suck it and switch? Why keep letting them drag you around by the balls? It's fucked up. Start a revolution.

If those channels go out and the cable company doesn't reflect the loss of 19 channels in my bill (meaning major discount on my monthly fees) You better believe I will be raising some hell. Direct TV and Dish network will be looking much more appealing.

I had a great experience when my cable was installed with Time Warner. The guy who came knew what he was doing and was really great.

I have DirecTV and of the 670 channels available to me, I actually have 20 on my favorite list. I'm all for the a la cart channel payment plan myself. Sure, channels will go away, but do we REALLY need 15 flavors of QVC?

I haven't watched MTV in about 10 years, but I'd shit a brick if I lost Celebrity Rehab on VH1.

He was in the truck, had the id, I called & confirmed with the company. he just stood around and said he did not know what to do.

that is after I waited FIVE HOURS past the appointment time for installation.

I haven't had cable in years. I think it's way over priced. I watch stuff online instead.

I know with Comcast the bills are raised evey 3-6 months very slightly,except for the last time when it went up by almost $2 without notice. They never give notice. I organze my bills on a fixed basis, all except the light and i alwyas catch it when Comcast raises their bills. I go over that confusing bill with a fine tooth comb and it's always in some tax or another. Never their fault directly. Yeah right.

have any of you notice that Time Warner has been charging you for on demand movies even when you dont watch them....it seems out here in LALAland they have been charge a number of us for adult movies....one right after the other in 5 minute intervals, which means 7:05 the at 7:10, then at 7:15 you get the picture..., then they slowly raise you fee without you noticing it, 1st they are the only game in town do to Adelphia decided to steal and now the family sees each other in the yard for about 20 minutes a day, I am just curious how many of you have these charges on your bill or have any of you looked at the bill before writing the check....., and just to set the record straight or at least forward I work in the adult toy industry and do not need to rent their adult movies ..., do to this I lost on demand....Time Warner employees all need to burn in hell

I have mediacom (fucked up cable company) and all I have to say is, why does that Time Warner shit have to be broadcast on MY cable? I watched Threes Company last night with that big black bar across the screen last night and it pissed me off! What am I supposed to do when I'm not even a customer? WTF?

Anywhoo I hope those assholes get it settled and y'all get your cable stations back. Watching shows online is ok, but nothing better than watching them on the tv in your recliner :D

Same when I cut off with AOL 4 years ago. The guy over the phone asked me 3 times why I wanted to cancel and got smart with me twice. I was so close to cursing that customer service guy out til his ear fell off LOL They'll offer you a special deal to stay on but that shit only lasts a couple of months. What comes after that, the same bullshit that made you decide to cancel in the first fuckin place.

All this would have devastated me...if it was 1989 and MTV USA still played actual music instead of being a vehicle for talentless ciphers like Heidi Montag and Tila Tequila. Hard to believe that the same network that gave a voice to Generation X now gives us twin fake lesbos and obnoxious frat-boy bromances as popular "culture". They need to give it up.

By the way, MTV Canada is at least honest about its emptiness and has no music whatsoever. I understand that MTV 2 Canada and Muchmusic are still trying to pass themselves off as music channels but I haven't grown balls big enough to get me watch a second of them without vomiting up blood.

Cable owners suck big time. This is a topic that really gets me going!

Recently, I bought a house and decided to say, "fuck Time Warner I am going with AT&T"! The best decision I have ever made. I pay $82.00 a month for cable TV and internet. If AT&T Uverse id offered in your area then, fuck Time Warner, Comcast and all the others that are trying desperately to have a monopoly over our butts!

I hate cable, not cause I don't watch it constantly, but because it's a monopoly that has me by the balls. And they did it on New Years Day, a day when they know most of us are going to be hungover and will need mindless Marathons of Charm School and Degrassi the Next Generation.

I pay $114 a month for cable and internet. Mind you that this is a discount because our association fees cover basic cable. I have the platinum package but the thing is if I were to downgrade the cable, the price for the internet will go up. Right now I'm paying about $65 a month for internet. That would increase if I downgraded in any shape or form. Don't ask me why, all I know is that Comcast is a thief and the only thing I'm glad for is that I have the elusive email address for the florida cable commission in our state of Tallahassee. It was a hard address to find but once I found it, I got results quickly. When I moved here we barely had any channels, no cartoon network, no VH1, no MTV. Their best package was the one from the 80s when they had those HBO East and West coast packages, etc., so I did a two week research, found the email address and complained. Within 3 months they upgraded the whole neighborhood. What was so funny was that I moved from an apartment complex to an upper middle class neighborhood. My apartment offered everything plus high speed internet. It took another year for them to put the cables down for high speed internet. I can't tell you how many conference calls I had with the Cable Commission in Tallahassee and the Comcast executives that you can never get on the phone.

I think its very important for everyone to have a contact for your state's cable commission. If we did we wouldn't get screwed so often. I stll have issues with Comcast but when it gets too ugly, I'll email Tallahasses ina heartbeat

I thought they were only doing it on the Bright House and Time Warner systems.

That's got to be annoying if they are doing it nationwide.

The following is a list of all Viacom cable channels. Viacom also owns CBS. For some reason, Time Warner is not pulling all of Viacom's channels. I'm guessing it is because Viacom is only increasing charges for the one's Time Warner is pulling. Maybe Time Warner should black out CBS and see how Viacom responds. Unfortunately, I believe that might be illegal as I think non-cable networks must be carried by cable television providers.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but something similar happened in the UK. The two major TV providers - Sky TV (Satellite) and Virgin Media (cable), warred over a bunch of channels each owned. Virgin Media had things like livingtv and E4 etc, which had their ratings rise like hell over the past year. Sky TV just had Sky 1, which showed a lot of major shows (The Simpsons, 24, Lost), but its ratings still dropped.

During negotations, not only did Sky get Virgin's channels at a much lower price than previously, but Virgin lost Sky TV. I was fucking livid - no more Simpsons! Lots of people complained and got new deals with Virgin media if they stayed. I felt bad for the company though. You know why?

Sky TV is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Virgin Media had JUST been bought by Richard Branson, his arch-rival (so clichéd) and just been rebranded from NTL Cable.

I've left the UK since then in February (not because of it), so I don't know what's happened there since.

Yes, Obama has been advised of the situation and is assembling a committee to address the issue as we speak.

I would watch TV all day long if I could find shows that I like.

I like to have tv on in the back ground while I do my chores, then I like to sit and watch it while I have lunch. (I've been unemployed in this michigan economy, since 8/2007. I didn't draw any unemployment benefits on purpose because DH can support me and I figure some other poor feller can use that money more than me.)

Anyway, tv sucks so bad, I spend my free time online instead. If I want to watch tv, I pop in a DVD.

I pay $63 a month for directv. We are a family of four adults. I'd say that our daily average of total tv watching (all four of us included) is 3 to 4 hours a day.

so if they take these channels away, then their customers should all receive a discount. After all, they're saying if they have to pay more to keep them, then we have to pay more....

Less channels means we pay less. Right?

I hate time warner.

I wish we could pay only for the chamnels we actually want to watch. I don't give a shit about all those home improvement networks, or MTV. Seriously, we only watch the kid networks, fox, nbc, cartoon network, comedy central, sports, and international news. I wouldn't give two shits if the other channels disappeared forever. I would totally pay like 5 dollars per channel we actaully watched. We'd play a lot less than now.

I've had direct tv since 2000 and have lived with it in 4 different houses. At 3 of those houses, the dish was installed low enough that I could sweep the snow off of it in the winter.

At this house, it's one and a half stories up. I have to get on a ladder to get a handful of snow of the dish in the middle of a snow storm if I want to watch tv, and it has to be done every 1/2 hour to 2 hours, depending on how much snow is coming down.

If I'd been smart, I would have told the installer to just put it lower. There was nothing blocking it's reception to the sattelite, and no need for it to be way up on the side of the house. It's just a huge inconvenience.

That being said, I used to LOVE directv. Before then, all I had were rabbit ears with tin foil strung up between them. But lately, there's been less and less to watch. I'm sick of reality shows. My Bare Lady and The Girls Next Door aint doing a thing for me.

I'm an insomniac and when I can't sleep, I sure would like to be able to watch something besides 137 channels of "natural male enhancement", "how to make millions on foreclosed homes", or "collectable obama coins".

Even when it's not the middle of the night, every other channel is an infomercial. I resent that. I want to see programming. Even if it's rerunds of Fantasy Island.

I've been seriously considering getting rid of TV altogether. I've been without it for several weeks at a time over the last year when I couldn't pay the bill and let me tell ya, I wasn't missing a thing.

Okay, how many hours of dedicated tv watching do you people do per month?

I'm stunned at the prices being posted here for cable tv. 60.. 100 and above.

I pay 42$ a month for cable internet access. That allows me to download 90 gB per month. A full length high quality movie is about 2gB. Rule of thumb is 1 hour of tv time = 1 gb. It takes about 3 hours for a show to go from the tv schedule to being available online for download. Totally illegal of course... (ssh)

That give me 90 hours of tv/movies per month for $42 including high speed internet access. And no fucking commercials.

Seriously people - rethink this! The model is changing. There are also TONS of sites where you can watch tv shows online.

Mind you I watch everything on my computer or just have it playing in the background/mini window. It's not a big deal to get a hookup to your screen, just never had to do it personally.

Imagine what you could do with an extra 1,200 a year? Sounds like a vacation to me!

If you have little ones, try some of the Sprout Shows. Max and Ruby is wonderful, and Pingu is really cute too, depending on how old the rugrats are. If it weren't for Max and Ruby, my DD might have starved. For a year she would only sit still to eat if that was on.
