Todd From "Blush" Passed Away

Todd Homme, one of the three finalists on Lifetime's reality show Blush: The Search For the Next Great Makeup Artist, was found dead in his NYC apartment on Saturday at the young age of 23. Todd's mother told TVGuide that he went to sleep during the afternoon and never woke up. His boyfriend found him.

Todd's mother also said that the medical examiner is currently investigating the cause of death. Todd didn't have any health issues and there were no drugs, pills or alcohol in his system. They think there might have been problems with his heart.

She said, "It's devastating to us. We're in shock right now. He was born a month and a half early, walked at ten months and never sat down. He was always helping people and everyone calls him a guardian angel and he just loved everybody."

I just caught up on all the episodes of Blush after a ton of you recommended I watch it for Maxi's craziness. I was looking forward to the finale tonight, but damn. This is tragic, weird and surprising.

Rest in peace, Todd Homme...

Oh very sad.

I just finished watching the finale and saw the memorium following-- can't believe it. He was my favorite (and totally should have won)! In his short time on television he touched a lot of lives (just look at all the comments)--and that takes a special person.

After reading through some of the comments I will say in response to one post, that when someone young dies it isn't "usually drugs". A similar thing happened to a guy I went to high school with. He was 21, and everyone constantly implied drugs. It was an heart defect that had gone undetected.

R.I.P. Todd :-*

I just finished watching the season finale of blush and was sad to see todd didn't win. when nolan won and hugged todd i said to myself "they will be friends forever". then the in memory came on and my jaw literally dropped! how shocking and sad! he was one year younger than me!! and to not know what the cause is i am sure is particularly hard for the friends and family of todd to deal with.

My sincerest condolences :'(

I can not believe it and .. we are so sorry to his family and everyone else who loved him dearly! our hearts are with u in this devastating time...
Love,
Susie and Christina!

OMFG! I was just getting to watch the finale and now I see this! How horrible. So young, and he was my favorite on the show. I don't know if I can bear to watch it now. Devastating news. Rest in Peace, Todd. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

knowing friends of todd, I can tell you that drugs and alcohol were not involved. that's not just his mother reporting it. please don't assume you know about people. his mother and his friends are in mourning so please give them the respect they are owed. don't try to guess what happened, unless you know todd. just let the police and coroners do their jobs and find out what happened with the rest of us. thank you.

Thank you for your post and (((((((HUGS))))))

oh no! One of the very rare gorgeous AND talented people on "reality" TV ... sigh, rest in peace, good man.

How sad! I watched Blush from day one and found myself really rooting for him to win. This was on Wednesday 12/16. Little did I know he had already been with the Lord for five days. I bet he's having a blast applying makeup on all the angels now. LOL!
I am glad Nolan won. He deserved it. I think Maxi can get a job working at any catwalk or place at Las Vegas. He does good artisitc/outlandsish work. Noland does beautiful work for Models on magazines or even movie stars! (Except for the feathered eyebrows. I bet he won't do that again!)
Anyway...Rest in peace Todd.
Everyone else....Have a Christ-filled Christmas!

apeyfbaby's picture

I've been dying to watch the show, but with school and all, i've never had the time to actually catch it.

my first semester is finally over and i FINALLY got the chance to watch it...and it was the season finale at that...

i didn't know who was who when it began, but the second i saw Todd, i said!!.."i want him to win!"

i always say that when i first begin to watch a show...i always go by my first gut instinct and who i think looks the most sincere and deserving...and for me, that was todd.

then i saw the in memory of thing and was completely devestated!

it's sooo sad and my deepest sympathies to his family, friends, fans, and loved ones.

Very Sad. I haven't watched the show yet, but condolences to family and friends. R.I.P.

This is one of my biggest fears... I always hear stories of people that have a little headache and go to sleep and never wake up...or young people that literally just end up dropping dead because of heart problems that they werent even aware existed... I literally think of think of this all the time and it scares so bad...not that it will happen to me but that it will happen to someone I love...

---

I know, it seems like I've been hearing a lot of stories about things like this happening lately. Not too long ago I read about a hockey player who died from some unknown heart condition at 19. It is scary, but I guess if you're going to die the best way to go is in your sleep, painlessly.

knowing friends of todd, I can tell you that drugs and alcohol were not involved. that's not just his mother reporting it. please don't assume you know about people. his mother and his friends are in mourning so please give them the respect they are owed. don't try to guess what happened, unless you know todd. just let the police and coroners do their jobs and find out what happened with the rest of us. thank you.

Shit. That's so out of left field and tragic. It's rather frightening, too, that one could literally die from no apparent cause (at least at the moment).

That is so sad. I was looking forward to tonight's episode with the final three. I wonder what happens if he's the winner? He was very talented as a makeup artist. So sad.

I wish people would not jump to conclusions. Yes, 23 year olds should not die so young but if his heart was weak, it might have just stopped. His death doesn't have to be because of drugs.

shandi's picture

It doesn't have to be drugs, like some are saying. My daughter knew a girl in middle school who was walking down the steps and dropped dead at only 14 years old. It was an unknown heart defect found on the autopsy. My son had a friend in the neighborhood that he played with a lot, and then one day Andrew, at only 9 years old, dropped dead from a brain aneurysm. It can happen, and it is so terrible when it does. I feel so bad for this man's mother, losing her son. A mother should never have to lose a child, in my opinion.

Exactly I wouldnt be scared for myself but if that happened to someone I knew I know it would be so hard to deal with..especially since im not a people person lol and I tend to not call back and not keep in touch too much and I know it would break my heart to know they might not know how I feel about them

oh and who is that girl in your avie?

Missy- no kidding! People are always so quick to pass judgement. Actually, it probably happens a lot that drugs AREN'T involved. A girl in my high school died at the age of 16 when she had an aneurism while going down the stairs. The human body is a complicated thing. A LOT of things can go wrong!

It's still sad, though. condolences.

Awww, so young :( R.I.P. and my thoughts are with his family.

Mrs. Gosling, that is a scary thought. It wouldn't be so much for yourself though. I mean, if you were to die in your sleep, you wouldn't feel any pain and you wouldn't ever be conscious again to feel the pain of what happened, you know?

Sometimes I can't understand why people are afraid of death. I guess if you're a believer in the after life and you think you'll be punished, maybe it's worth some concern, but if not, it's just the end of paying bills! Woohoo!

Damn he should of stayed away from the drugs...the "heart" thing is probably caused be a combination of drugs, probably the same that killed Heath Ledger.

http://ginarivera.typepad.com/ginasrant/

When a twenty-three year old apparently in good health "suddenly" passes away, the reason is almost always drugs. If it's his Mom reporting that there were no drugs and a possible "heart condition" than you can be sure it was drugs. Sad but true.
