R.I.P. Paul Benedict
Bentley from The Jeffersons has passed away! The AP reports that Paul Benedict who played Mr. Bentley was found dead by his brother on Martha's Vineyard. He was 70. His brother said his death was still being investigated by authorities. Sadness.
Paul also played The Mad Painter on Sesame Street for a few years in the 70s.

Rest in peace, Paul Benedict....

Not Mr. Bentley! I adored him growing up as Mr. Numbers and as Mr. Bentley. He was always such a good humored chap to George's surly natured Napelon complexed bully. I'm so sad :(
RIP Paul Benedict, thanks for all the years of entertaiment you gave me and for the surprise cameo in Waiting For Guffman. You will be missed.
I always loved Mr. Benedict. Just a 70's staple. One of my fave lines from "Spinal Tap" is his improv throwaway line when he's the concierge in their hotel and Nigel insults him. "I'm just as God made me, sir."

Who didn't love Bentley?!? RIP
Who didn't love Bentley?!? RIP
That sucks. I started watching this show after I moved here and Nick @ Nite was still repeating all those 70's comedies I never heard of.
He was one of my favorite characters in The Jeffersons and I'd imagine he was probably a pretty nice guy.
That bit about still being investigated does sound like there was some foul play here. I hope not tho ><

It's so sad - we were just talking about this kinda stuff! I loved Benedict. I recently saw the epi where George and that white hubby guy decide to become exotic dancers for a night! LOL!
