"Black Friday" Indeed
When I first read these two horrific stories yesterday, my first thought was "Only in fucking America" and that's the damn truth. Every year, we hear of bitches getting into knife fights over the last Bratz doll or choking each other for a discounted portable DVD player, but this shit right here is beyond disgusting. Beyond.
At a Wal-Mart (of course) in Long Island, NY yesterday, 34-year-old Jdimytai Damour, a temporary maintenance worker, tried to help to control the crowd of blood-thirsty zombies that stormed into the store at 5am for holiday discounts on dumb shit like X-boxes and flat-screen TVs. The crowd was so hungry to get their fat, greasy hands on stupid shit that they knocked the man over and kept on going. 200 crazies trampled over the man, killing him. He died at a Wal-Mart in Long Island, the day after Thanksgiving. Even when the man was on the ground and lifeless, shoppers continued to run past him like he wasn't even there.
One Wal-Mart employee, who was also knocked down in the stampede, said, "He was bum-rushed by 200 people. They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down, too ... I didn't know if I was going to live through it. I literally had to fight people off my back."
Damour's family members were told that he died of a heart attack. Four shoppers, including a pregnant women, were also injured. When shoppers were told that they had to leave because an employee had died, they started shouting "I've been on line since Friday morning!!!"
Wal-Mart's spokeswhore, SATAN, issued this statement: "We expected a large crowd this morning and added additional internal security, additional third-party security, additional store associates and we worked closely with the Nassau County police. We also erected barricades. Despite all of our precautions, this unfortunate event occurred."
Unfortunate event?! An unfortunate event was me almost pooping my pants yesterday. This is way, way, way beyond an "unfortunate event." You know, it makes so much sense that this happened at Wal-Mart, the epitome of American grossness. I hope that on Christmas morning, when the Wal-Mart savages' children are opening their stupid presents, they tell them "I hope you like it, because I had to kill a man for it."
And on the other side of the country, two men died at a Toys 'R Us in Palm Desert, CA. According to the L.A. Times, two chicks started arguing inside the store. One witness said it might have been over a toy, but another witness said it was over personal issues between them. Both were with dudes. One of the dudes pulled out a gun, shot it in the air and then shot the other man. It's assumed that the man who was shot also had a gun and used it to shoot the other dude. They both died.
What the fuck is wrong with America? Even wild animals behave better than we do. Stories like this make me want to donate all my shit to charity and go live in the woods for the rest of my life. People suck.

These are probably the same type of parents that I had experience with. Their 4 year old son pushes an adult over, they tell their kid very loudly to hit back next time a kid hits them, a 3 year old boy punches another boy in the eye, etc. These are the types of parents that would kill for some cheap Xmas toys.

(I think these are also the ones that think the TV is a babysitter & the teachers should be raising their kids.) I missed that post, but it is indeed so true to many parents, not just of this generation, but of previous ones. After all, people learned to equate material things with love a loooong ass time ago.
That said, I am not against gifting family and friends on holidays/other occasions either. We should all be so fortunate as to be able to provide love and financial security to our loved ones.

Here's a tip to making this consumption season easier in the future.
Start in the summer. There are great fairs and fleamarkets featuring artisans that sell nice stuff for great deals.
Or if you're lucky enough to go to a resort town at a beach or a lake, or in the mountains-wherever, buy little things you love in local shop. A little here, and a little there, and you'll get alot done before Halloween.

It's all hype really. Some of those "deals" were also on walmarts website. I sat at home Friday morning 12:00am in the comfort of my home and looked at some of the same crap these people (and I use the word people loosely)killed a man over.
I tried black friday once and was so annoyed by pushy evil people. You have the idiots who cut the line and then act like they don't speak English. Then you have the morons who use their children as shields knowing a crowd will be there pushing. Most of the stuff people want are limited. The $300 laptop...yea each store probably has 4 but 2000 are standing in line.

Hopefully he will indeed be able to right this ship, though I am very pessimistic when it comes to these things. Even that - or any politics - cannot keep me from hoping for better days, not only for Americans, but for everybody, of course.
On BS: I do not mind her as a person, 'cause she really just represents the chick, at work, who had an easy ride to 'the office' because she was kinda pretty .
That's the thing that makes me not really care for her much at all. I do wish that eventually she will realize that there's more to life than shopping, drugging, drinking & partying tho.

Of course, I have to agree to an extent. Good management would require a healthy assessment of the situation followed by sound decision making. If that had happened tragedy could have been averted. And they could have been left to fistfight in the aisles over The Incredible Hulk.
And then the other side for me is: well, that's a show of faith. Same as when I open that door for those kids. Sure, I monitor them - but I give them some trust and they honour it. For me, that missing basic component is very disturbing.

Ugh, I worked an 18 hour shift at the mall yesterday for Black Friday. Black Friday is the one day a year that you realize just how ignorant, selfish, and cheap people really are. People constantly complaining about how hot it was in the store, the long lines, the sales "weren't that good", and how it's crazy out there it is. I kept wanting to scream, "well duh bitches, it's f***ing Black Friday! Your ass knew good and well that when you woke your cheap ass up at 3 in the morning to stand in line for some dumb ass electronics and cheap ass clothes that there would be thousands of people out doing the same exact thing. If you had any complaints, stay your ass home and save me and the rest of my associates the annoyance of hearing you complain about it as we swipe your maxed out credit card.

I like to retell the story of how Wall-Mart failed miserably in Germany, where buying stuff is perceived as a chore, not a pastime or a mode of self-expression. Customers there were appalled by the phony cheerfulness of the staff and stayed out in droves, despite the so-called rebates (which always come at some poor, down-trodden, third-world person's expense).

Yeah, its tough. they go back and forth at my mom's shelter. You can't let it disrupt your family. I would say do the research for her, find a place like Tabitha's house in your city and let professionals help her. next time she calls pick her up and drop her off there. A lot of its mental and she needs counselling. She will live with people who were in her exact same situation, maybe worse, but much better off for leaving. They're still alive. I'm not the expert but that's my suggestion.

I think people are freaking insane and sick. This is completely beyond belief and there is no excuse for this behavior at all... I don't go out this time of year because of people exactly like these sickos that trampled this poor man. Nothing is worth killing someone for... All the people in the store when this occurred should be lined up and shot down dead... or maybe they should be told to lie down, so that each one of them can be trampled to death...
this is pathetic. i live in so cal i went to a black friday sale about 2 years ago and sat in line with my cousin on thanksgiving for a laptop. the rest of our family joined us later; but anyway,
at best buy, about an hour before they open, they go down the line and hand out tickets for the limited items (like laptops and tvs) so people can't just bum rush the store.
if walmart would;ve handed out tickets for the TVs and whatever else these idiots sprinted for, the situation might not have been as severe.
however, people will do anything for the stupidest shit. my little brother (who is 6) got practically trampled whilte we were trying to get a cart. a FUCKING SHOPPING CART.
never again will i go to any type of sale.
