I miss the Prince of the past who used to sing about nasty shit and parade his beautiful bare ladyboy ass around the stage like a power bottom at a Palm Springs bath house. This just sounds crazy coming from someone who's been corrupting my mind since I was in elementary school. I used to sneak and listen to my older sister's Prince tapes. Born agains of any stripe are very irritating. One of my close relatives has a father-in-law who is a born-again Christian... he "found God" while serving a prison term for driving drunk (not ordinarily an imprisonable offense unless you hit a little girl and drag her for nearly a mile before realizing what you've done). After "finding God," voila! His sentence was cut in half. Meanwhile, he regularly criticizes members of my family for not being Christlike enough. His smarmy attitude and self-righteousness reminds me of a Dr. Phil/George W. Bush hybrid. Isn't Bush a born-again too?
It's ludicrous to think that dunking yourself in a pool of water and saying, "I accept Jesus!" somehow makes up for all the morally reprehensible and injurious things you've done in your lifetime. Or, in Prince's case, just having lots and lots of sex. Sorry, it still happened, and I'm sure his herpes is a testament to that!

I'll second that! I had a friend who was really cool, down to earth, used vulgar language, loved to kick back with drinks, very flirtatious..... and then he became a born again! All of a sudden we were on two different pages. Of course he only found God when the woman he was dating got him to start reading the bible. He was no longer himself, married her, and our friendship tanked. Atleast we had alot of fun for 5 years! What happened to doing things in moderation? geez.

I think you might be right...there is a desperation to my friend that wasn't there before he was Born Again. I think deep down, they are still very insecure, and as such, they must be strident and vigilant in their new beliefs, in order to crowd out any doubt.

The problem is most people think that Prince IS gay. Or maybe in the closet, or at least bisexual. I've known guys who seem gay but are actually not at all. And they're very secure in their heterosexuality despite appearing otherwise. Prince has always come off as loving women so I'm not surprised he would be vehemently anti-gay.
