Wanda Sykes Loves The Ladies

I never really thought about if Wanda Sykes likes to suck on the peen or the clitty, but now that she's declared her gayelleness, everything makes sense now. I had one of those "now that you mention it...." moments.

Anygayelle, raise your strap-ons and rejoice through the aisles of Home Depot, Wanda Sykes is a big ole' lezzie! You can call her Wanda Dykes from now on! Sorry, it was the first thing I thought of. Yes, I'm eternally 12. Just like Mimi!

At the Las Vegas Prop 8 Really yesterday, Wanda shouted to the audinece, "I LOVE LICKIN' THE LABIA AND PROUD OF IT!" No, she really said, "You know, I don't really talk about my sexual orientation. I didn't feel like I had to. I was just living my life, not necessarily in the closet, but I was living my life. Everybody that knows me personally they know I'm gay. But that's the way people should be able to live their lives."

When Prop 8 passed in California, Wanda felt like she was attacked and so she's speaking out about her life now. "Now, I gotta get in their face. I'm proud to be a woman. I'm proud to be a black woman, and I'm proud to be gay." She forgot the "proud to be a funny person" part, because she stills makes me laugh until my peen hole queefs.

Wanda married her wife on October 25th. She was married to a dude back in the old days, but they divorced in 1998.

Go Wanda! I just want to give her a big lesbian hug (it involves lots of titties rubbing together)!

It's your turn, Mah Boo Anderson Cooper. Now, I don't mean he needs to come out as a big shiny homo. But it's about times he figures out that I'm alive, declares his undying love for me and promises to make me his child bride (I am younger than him).

"90% of homosexuals have some sort of other mental illness (depression, bipolar, etc) and have usually been addicted to drugs, alcohol and more in the past."

Yes, and I'm sure (if even true) this has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the fact that such a large portion of society wants to deny them their basic rights! I would hazard a guess that close to 75% of the overall adult population has struggled or will struggle with depression at some point in their lives. Add in some societal bigotry, denial of civil rights, hate crimes, and millions of people telling you you're going to hell and see what happens! Good god, that's the stupidest argument I've ever heard. Cause-and-effect much?

Scientists don't "prove" anything. Their findings either support or don't support a theory, but they don't prove anything, fundie. However, I'm no scientists so I feel safe in saying that your ignorant ramblings do indeed prove the theory that fundie beliefs and science are completely antithetical. Superstition and science cannot coexist. Please don't ever try to use science to support your argument again. You're just not intelligent enough for that.

Dannygrl,

I don't know where you get your information. You are obviously not basing these judgements on peer reviews published in actual scientific journals.

It is clear now from numerous studies that there is a strong biological component to homosexuality, and that there is a good deal of homosexual behavior in other species. I don't know what you mean, then, when you imply that homosexuality is not "natural",and therefore must be an illness other than to state the obvious fact that such behavior won't produce children. But there are many "natural" behaviors, such as defending a kin group, which may not directly produce offspring, but will at the same time lead to greater group prosperity in the long run. Homosexuality is quite probably related evolutionarily to this kind of trade off.

The fact that she was married to a man (just like the redhead from SATC) just goes to prove this is a LIFESTYLE CHOICE.

Homosexuality is an addicted lifestyle, nothing different than drug use, alcoholism and other addictions.

It is a form of mental illness and scientists have proven this. 90% of homosexuals have some sort of other mental illness (depression, bipolar, etc) and have usually been addicted to drugs, alcohol and more in the past.

People need to know you can HEAL FROM being HOMOSEXUAL ADDICTION just like you can from any other disease. There is a cure but the left liberal league doesn't want you to know this!

I'd like to see a person try to get away with living according to the bible as the inerrant word of an omniscient, omnipotent creator. They'd be locked up for child abuse, animal abuse, murder, vandalism, rape, genocide, kidnapping, and battery faster than they could say God. What they actually do is called cherry picking. The bible has a verse for every prejudice. It's a perverse candy store of hatred.

ImStillToni: I've always wanted to ask the black folks with religious families a question: Since Christianity was basically forced upon you by the white folks during slavery and/or misguided missionary trips to Africa and isn't something that's cultural to you at all except very recently, how is it that so many black people are so extremely devoted to Christianity and are among the most devout? I would have thought it would be an uncomfortable reminder of bondage and been dropped long ago. Thoughts?

I have several friends who are black and gay and the mental torment I've seen them go through is just too much. I have actually cried with them trying to talk to them and give them some kind of comfort and I just can't. There's nothing I've ever been able to say that has given them even a moment of peace. And it's horrible. I always wondered if maybe it was a byproduct of the predestination doctrine. I know a lot of hardcore religious types believe that and that is the only thing I've ever been able to come up with that makes any sense of the whole thing. I can see how, if they were raised with those beliefs, then they can believe they were born gay and still hellbound. That just tends to make them angry with God.

My dad's family is Irish Catholic, but he was pretty lapsed by the time I was born. My mom's originally from South America, but she wasn't religious at all until she was older and then she joined a Southern Baptist church. My siblings from her first marriage weren't raised with any religion, but lucky me . . . she found God just in time for my arrival. I was shuffled back and forth between both religions, but never really had a deep, deep understanding of either which is fine since I'm clearly a demon according to them, but the Baptists are a lot scarier than the Catholics to me and most of the people I've met who are so fucked because of religion, no matter what gender or race, are some form of religion that's similar to the Baptists. Go figure.

Diego and Aquarius:
I was raised in a Baptist home and forced to go to church as a kid. I have Christian relatives that are thisclose to PETA in regards of their religious zeal. And yes, I am Black.
It's kind of 2 fold...I know that often it is the older generations that believe the Bible verbatim and therefore believe that God is against homoesexuality, so it must be an "abomination" as well as a "sin." It is usually the older generations, like grandparents and such, that hold on to these beliefs while younger generations tend to use the Bible as a guide and not as law. Families have been torn apart because the older generation cannot "tolerate" homosexuality and use the Bible as justification.
So some people, who already feel as if we are treated as second class citizens, would NEVER come out due to backlash by family, community, or church. I personally think it is moronic, but it is what it is. I have an aunt and uncle that act as if they are God and downtalk anyone that doesn't live life their way, which they believe is by following the Bible to the T. If one of my cousins came out, no doubt they would disown them. Ironically, they do not drink alcohol and treat us like shyt, preferring to be with their "church family" instead of us. My mother joined their church and now has cancer, do you think ANYONE from the church has even called her now that my aunt and uncle moved to Atlanta? It's almost like they are brainwashed and do not think for themselves...and believe me it's not just one religion.

I've tried my best to change the minds of some of the men and women I've met. I know what that feels like because I was there once, but they are set on the Bible being the final word and the interpreatations they've grown up with being the absolute truth. Doesn't stop me from trying to talk to them about it though.

Yeah, you're exactly right. They could have hardcore scientific proof and there will still be people who consider it a sin. They'll compare it to alcoholism or mental illness and there will be a push for a 'cure' and I just don't want to deal with that.

Thanks for the insight, I can see what you're talking about. I am going to be on the lookout for a black gay Christian now! That must be awful... I was never really religious, but I can't imagine having to choose between your religion (and possibly family) and personal identity. That makes me wonder if things will change with the advent of genetic science, though -- judging from my fundie Duggar-like cousin, there could be scientific proof that being gay was 100% genetic 100% of the time and she wouldn't believe it... or she'd say something like, "But it's still wrong! It's in the Bible!"

As a whole, black people who are religious tend to be way more dedicated to it than white folks. I think that has a lot to do with it. That they tend to view the Bible and its translations as the absolute word of God and maybe the black community is more fundamentalist than others. I don't know why, but it's just something I've noticed in my own life and it could be way off. The black people I know who are religious are hardcore. They don't mess around. I read an article once that mentioned the lack of education and awareness of studying the Bible as a piece of literature, but I just find that to be offensive and racist. I really would like to know what the real issue is though. I do know that I've never met a black gay Christian. The black people I know in our community . . . when I've talked to them, it really does seem like they've made a choice between their sexuality and their faith. It doesn't even seem to be an option to them that they can have both. Of course, that's also true of the latino community to a degree. Of course, like I said, this is just what I've come across. I am not making any blanket statements. I'm from the south and we have a lot more fundies here than other places so that could have a lot to do with what I've seen.

ETA: I think we should ease up on the science. The more they push that, the more people are going to see it as some kind of illness and we're going to have people like Dobson pushing for medical cures. It's one thing to fuck with someone's mental state by using bogus therapy, but it's a whole other animal to bring actual drugs and medical procedures into it. That terrifies me.

Good for her! I kinda figured it, but it's great that she came out in defense of gays after Prop 8.

I have a question. I've read a few articles about the upswing in black voters this November and their support for Prop 8. I don't think that's why it passed (that Mormon money definitely had something to do with it), but I do believe the statistics saying that 70 percent of black voters voted for it. I also read in one of those articles that many more black than white people believe that homosexuality is chosen, rather than inborn (by a 2-to-1 margin, I believe). My question is why? None of the articles really addressed the reason of WHY there was this disparity in belief, just that it existed. (The article also mentioned that as more and more scientific evidence showing the "gay" gene, that it is innate, etc. comes out, beliefs will change.) But I'm genuinely curious. Is it a religious thing? Cultural? Little bit of everything?

It just makes me kind of sad that there are so many obviously gay black entertainers and famous personalities who are scared to death to come out of the closet. I hope that the scientific research will change a lot of minds -- not the fundie religious people, but the socially moderate or liberal people who still think it's a choice.
