As part of a lapsed Catholic family, the lapsing was in large part due to the child rape scandal, and the pope does look like Palpadine (sp?) from Star Wars. I love PP as well -- it was a Planned Parenthood NP who noticed during my annual exam (5 years ago this month), that my thyroid was enlarged and sent me for tests. I had to have part of it removed 3 days after Christmas because of a cancerous nodule. If it weren't for an eagle-eyed Planned Parenthood nurse practitioner, I might not be alive now.

I have told that story to quite a few pro-lifers, and it hasn't changed any minds, though -- they just think I should have had health insurance and gone to a real doctor!

Ok the arguments this Samantha person is using are that of a 14 year old during debate class. Animals don't protect you? PETA needs Lindsay and other 'celebrities' so she is doing them a favor?
She at least should have given her view on fur and stand for it instead of starting to blab about all kinds of irrelevant things. She is the typical kind of person in not wanting to say what she feels because she is scared she might be wrong or might not know enough about it. Why not say ..I did not like that they attacked Lindsay with flour?! Nothing wrong with purely on a emotionally basis defending your girlfriend. Instead she started to rationalize it when she is obviously not up to the task to do so. Let's end on a positive note..at least she seems like a loyal and nice person :-)

There was this group in the UK against hunting and they'd have all kinds of great ideas....I remember once: they infiltrated a hunt at some huge, private establishment. They stripped nekkid except for little furry ears and faux-fox tails and ran around chasing the guests or some shit. It was all timed - so they ran in, wreaked havoc and ran out...and you know - that's interesting. It's silly and cute AS WELL AS invasive (I think invasion is important because in a sense, that's what happens to these animals) and attention-getting.

I mean - the ONE time someone gets painted, you can say: Wow. They're really mad, they lost their cool - I feel badly about that. But when you numb it down to flour and do it a hundred times it's just fuckery. I like the MK and Ashley faces - those are fun.

But really, I think PETA just needs to go away now and let someone else take over this issue. Do they ever get into "recycling"? I mean - people love their fur and leather (it kinda makes sense, we get attached to the things that saved us in humanity's infancy) and it's not like theirs not TONNES of it out there.

I'm sure PETA members do some good but for the most part they are media attention seeking misanthropic idealogues who have a very simplistic understanding of nature. They do not get that we are all complicit in nature's cycle of cruelty. With so many humans on the planet, we hurt animals every day just by being alive and using resources. The best thing then PETA could do then is to hand out condoms and birth control pills to everyone, educate people on the dangers of human over-population. This would be much more effective than stalking celebrities who wear fur.
