She told Style Magazine (via FoxNews), "I'm like an alcoholic. The myth that says you lose all this weight when you breastfeed! That is so not true! It's like, please, will everyone stop telling me I look really well."

Holy titmilk! It took me forever to get to the bottom to post. Um, you can post links here, ya know.
Anyhoo, I exclusively breast fed my older daughter for six months. I wasn't producing enough after awhile, so I had to supplement, but she was still breastfed occasionally until she was about 9 mos. My younger daughter is only 20 mos younger than my oldest and I developed kidney stones the last few months of pregnancy and had a horrible time. I had to endure the pain of that until she was two months old and I finally had surgery. I only breast fed her for a few months. I was in too much pain and she was heavier and more hungry than my older daughter, so I couldn't breastfeed anymore.
I must say that my older daughter NEVER gets sick. EVER! My younger one doesn't get sick alot, but she does get sick. I do believe breastfeeding does play a role in healthier children.
However, just like a child should be weaned from a bottle, a child should also bw weaned from a breast. IMO, once school starts and your child should be learning to be independent, they should also not be depending on their parent for milk. Besides the fact that, by this age, they should be on skim milk anyway.

I completly sympathize! My daughter is 8 months and I dread the day she weans herself. I love nursing! But 2 years old is my limit. Anything after that is just weird.
That 8 year old should NOT be nursing. I showed this to my mom and asked her is she could imagine still nursing my 8 year old brother, lol. So weird.
After a certain age, it isnt about the health benefits of nursing, it is sick!

So, I'm not entirely sure anyone will read this, BUT...
I was listening to the radio this summer and they were talking about a woman who breastfed her child until it was 6. Then, this 30-year-old woman called in and told her story about how she breastfed until she was 6, then continued to SUCKLE until she was 25!! She called it "ninny" and every time she was uncomfortable or upset, her mom would whip it out and let her grown daughter suckle. The last time she suckled was right before she got married when she was 25 because she and her future husband got into a fight the night before they got married, so her mom whipped it out and she suckled her mother's teet...the night before she got married!!
If anyone lives in my area and heard that, they can confirm that the story was actually told.

I hate being hectored first thing in the morning.
Hey I am 100% all for breastfeeding. I nursed my three children until they were between 13 months and 2 years, weaning them very gradually until it ended with one feeding at bedtime.
It is the best thing for them and I actually lost all of my baby fat.
But to nurse anyone older than 2 or 2½ is just fucking weird. A child of that age is perfectly capable of feeding itself. Preferably nutritious foods.
what's truly disturbing is that children begin to have sexual thoughts and feelings well before puberty. I remember "experimenting" with my best friend when I was around 6-8 years old, most kids have done this, "playing doctor" for example. Her daughters are likely getting some sexual pleasure out of this, at the mother's total fault. The girls don't know the difference; the mother should recognize that the chances of this is affecting her daughters sexually are high, and that this is some form of incest at this point- sure the girls enjoy it because they don't know that it's wrong to get sexual stimulation from your mother. Continue to pump milk and give it to them in a cup, fine. But this is sick.
