Prop 8 Passed....
Look at these two precious lesbians being all smiley and married. Well, Prop 8 has come along and stomped all over their pure happiness. They're just two sad lesbians now and that is a sin! Gayelles should never be sad.
Prop 8, which re-bans gay marriage, will most likely pass. Right now 95% of the votes have been counted. 52% are for and 48% are against. There's still around 4 million absentee ballots that need to be counted, but it's probably not enough to turn things around. The state is no longer marrying the gays as of today. It's looking grim and gross.
A few of the 18,000 couples that were married will file lawsuits. Civil rights groups are also challenging the measure by asking the Supreme Court to strike it down based on the argument that you can't just take shit away from one certain group.
I don't get this shit. I'm a tax-paying dumb bitch like everyone else. I should have the right to fly to California, catch a sugar daddy on his death bed, marry him, wait a couple of months for him to kick it and then collect all his cash. Seriously, that's my lifelong goal and now a bunch of fun killers in California have stopped me from being able to achieve this!

I've been on the UK equivalent of welfare for 4 years due to having a long-term illness and to previously being self-employed. I'm an Oxford graduate and a former professional in the television industry and I can assure you that I am most certainly not a lowlife and get very angry when people assume that those who are not able to work for any reason are automatically scrounging scum. Admittedly I was in a welfare (or benefits as we call it) office yesterday and saw evidence of the "lowlife" you refer to: tramps moaning about how disorganised the system was; young healthy kids demanding that they were given more money cos £45 a week wasn't enough to live on etc - it exists. But it is definitely not everyone so please don't tar everyone with the same brush. And on topic, a few of my friends flew from London to Vegas this week to try to garner support for the Obama vote (I laughed at them as I couldn't see gambling Americans taking too kindly to someone from the UK who'd been to school with Prince William trying to tell them how to vote!), but am now thinking it may be worth flying to California to protest against this. It disgusts me in every way. If I have one purpose in life it is to persuade the world that gay people are exactly the same and deserve to be treated in exactly the same way as straight people. Our mothers and grandmothers fought for our rights as women, but when it comes to homosexuality the world still has a very long way to go.

At where I voted they had a section for kids to vote. A single sheet of paper, the top had each canidates picture with a box to check under it. My 5 year old was ELATED to be able to vote. He was so excited. I'm not sure he quite understands what he took part in, but he felt very important.

If, however, you think those beliefs should be legally codified when they impinge on the rights of others, that's not ok.
There's a distinction between the two. No one's saying you cant believe what you believe or that churches must perform ceremonies. They're saying that everyone else gets the rights to their beliefs, too.

As a Californian, I am shocked and really pissed off about the 52% of retards with whom I share a state. I can't believe people can be so progressive to vote for Obama (thank goodness for that!), but still be stuck in a status quo mindset about marriage. It just shows we've come a long way but still have much further to go. The fight is not over.
