Prop 8 Passed....
Look at these two precious lesbians being all smiley and married. Well, Prop 8 has come along and stomped all over their pure happiness. They're just two sad lesbians now and that is a sin! Gayelles should never be sad.
Prop 8, which re-bans gay marriage, will most likely pass. Right now 95% of the votes have been counted. 52% are for and 48% are against. There's still around 4 million absentee ballots that need to be counted, but it's probably not enough to turn things around. The state is no longer marrying the gays as of today. It's looking grim and gross.
A few of the 18,000 couples that were married will file lawsuits. Civil rights groups are also challenging the measure by asking the Supreme Court to strike it down based on the argument that you can't just take shit away from one certain group.
I don't get this shit. I'm a tax-paying dumb bitch like everyone else. I should have the right to fly to California, catch a sugar daddy on his death bed, marry him, wait a couple of months for him to kick it and then collect all his cash. Seriously, that's my lifelong goal and now a bunch of fun killers in California have stopped me from being able to achieve this!

For the most part, I'm a conservative in the idea that I believe in less government. I am also Christian.
However, this nation was formed for freedom and separation of church and state. So, while I might not agree with or understand homosexuality, I respect it and I don't think it's my right to tell homosexuals that you can't practice it or you can't get married. I do what I want to do and you should be able to do what you want to do. It's freedom to choose. Everyone of adult age should have the equal right to get married to whom they choose. I'll go as far as to say I don't even care if you decide you want to be married to three people as long as they all know about each other. I don't agree with it, but that's your choice and your life and government should not be the ones telling any of us whom we can and can't marry.

Yes, we have a laid back stereotype but there's also a large contingency of retired and active duty military folks out here who tend to be pretty conservative. Also, religious fanatics love beautiful weather and scenery too unfortunately so they live among the rest of us.

We already have the piece of paper in the form of a marriage license. Civil Union licenses for everyone! Then go get married in your respective religious/spiritual places. If you're single, you pay single taxes whether you're straight and single or gay and single. Uncoupleds living together would be either two adults of the same or opposite sex. They'd still have to pay taxes as if they were single. You want the benefits of a marriage or civil union? Make it legal. Get the license. Period!!

Please someone tell me why is it not possible or a solution to have everyone have a civil union. Instead of saying you get married since the term itself marriage is taken to strip a group of people from their rights..you say we are having a civil union ceremony. Then you could have a marriage that you also get whatever you want with, a license not to fuck up whatever religion it is you have, the marriage part could fall solely under your church/faith but have NO legal rights tied to it. That way everyone could honor their religion if they had one...and then ALL would have the same civil union paper which gives the actual government benefits. Then the govt would truly not be tied into the religion part of it and no one would be denied their rights. Is that possible? If so...lawmakers....get on it! It seems people tie in their religious thoughts on marriage to the legal parts of it. And I bet most people really are oblivious to the legal aspects in most ways. They see it only via the religion. Couldn't a suit be made to say it is illegal for government to define marriage but legal to define civil unions because they are govt based benefits and marriage ties into religion which shouldn't be tied into government? Does that make any sense?
