Obama's Grandmother Has Passed Away
Obama's memaw, Madelyn Dunham, died today in Hawaii after a battle with cancer. Obama's family issued this statement: "She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring. Our debt to her is beyond measure."
Just a day before the election...... Sadness.

Ok...I'm sad. But, quite frankly - this is the media we're talking about. "Sadness" wasn't my gut reaction. "Timely" was.
PS. I'm not saying she died on purpose...I'm just wondering about when exactly that happened...you know? And I think I support Obama. That is, I think I might if I knew anything at all about anything:)

Only a day before the election...poor thing.
At least she got to watch her grandson inspire so many people. She must have been so proud.
May she rest in peace.
Such sadness. The next few months should have been hers to soak up and savor.

Aww that is very sad, he just came back from a trip visiting her. She didnt even get to see her grandson become president. Well wherever she is, Im sure she will get to see him doing a good thing hopefully. This is truly sad news the day before.

My condolences to the family. It's a shame she had to die a day before the election. I hope she was aware enough to know how well he was doing in the race. Thank god he went back to visit her just over a week ago. The regret he said he felt when he didn't make it back in time to see his mother before she died is something I know too well. My father died unexpectedly and it's something I'll never get over.
I'm sure Mrs. Dunham died one of the proudest people in the world.
