Obama's Grandmother Has Passed Away
Obama's memaw, Madelyn Dunham, died today in Hawaii after a battle with cancer. Obama's family issued this statement: "She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring. Our debt to her is beyond measure."
Just a day before the election...... Sadness.

I just have one more thing to say. I woke up with it:
It's hard to lose people you love but at least his granny lived to old age and her dying was just a normal part of living. She was sick and in pain and now she is relieved. At least she got to watch her grandson grow to be the person he is - the first man of colour to run for President in the United States. She watched him as he passed all his school grades and was praised by his teachers. She watched as he made intelligent choices and built a family of his own that she could be proud of. She knew her beautiful granddaughters and MAYBE - maybe it's just better that this is how far she got becaus I just don't think the next 4 years are gonna be that easy for him.
So let's be positive - wave a fond hello at Granny and hope that we can all have a life as full as hers.

Reminds me of when RuPaul's mother passed away from cancer right as Ru had walked out onto the stage in front of the Washington Monument where MLK once stood. RuPaul was there to speak @ a Gay Rights National March & stood proudly in front of a half a million gay and lesbian people and their friends, to claim our place here in the Sun, part of the American Dream.
So , in a way, sometimes, the people we love the most who are ill , will cross over to the other side to help us in ways they couldnt do while here on earth.
Obama is not perfect, but I know one thing. tomorrow is where America speaks up and says "ENOUGH". People remember, Obama will be only as good as we, the people, force him to be. It aint over.

I will be glad when this election is over. I think they are both good men and good candidates for different reasons and I can't stand all of this hate coming from both camps. I've seen it turn friends into enemies this year and that makes me sad. And it's sad that Obama lost his grandmother at such an important time in his life.
