Bruno Takes On The Gay Marriage Haters

Sacha Baron Cohen as Bruno is done terrorizing the runways of Paris and now he's creating chaos in California for his movie with the really long time. Yesterday at a Yes on Prop 8 rally, the infamous homosexual known as Bruno joined the protesters, waving his banner like a proud queen. When the jig was up and dumb whores started to realize who this blonde flamer really was, he was quickly taken away by his production team.

Wait. The flaming troll in the green is against ze gays marrying?! I mean, you can tell that leprechaun's manpussy puckers every time he sees a big dick. Even the dude in the black shirt knows that some homo activity is about to go down between Bruno and the homo-elf.

Don't these dumb bitches have something better to do on a Sunday afternoon? I don't know... like partake in a little gay sex?

And any of you that vote NO on Prop 8, will automatically get an invitation to one of my weddings. I'm sure I'll get hitched several times in my life, so there's a seat waiting for you at one of them. I promise to put a dildo, a bong and an In-N-Out gift certificate in all my gift bags.

@Bjork:
I was, for a tine, a stay-at-home-mom, and still consider my contribution to not only my family, but society, invaluable.

Having said that, I did not make contributions to a 401K, did not have brilliant additions to my CV, and was not monetarily compensated. Although I was able to enjoy the "proctection" afforded legal marriage(unlike gay partners), I still empathize with people whose contributions are utterly devalued and in some cases, denigrated by a society rife with powerful white(usually straight) men rolling in ill-gotten gains.

Kudos to Sheeps and Ziggy Stardust.

Feminists have always advocated that a stay-at-home mom's work be included as part of the GNP.

Can you imagine being in a same-sex union with children and if your partner dies, you are not automatically guaranteed parental rights afforded to any heterosexual couple (married or not)?

And that guy in green? Mary, please!!!!

I registered here just so I could comment on this. I voted a few weeks ago (absentee as well) and proudly and gladly voted NO on Prop 8. It's horrible and I just had to sit in 20 minutes of extra traffic on my way home because of some hate filled intolerant assholes! I wish I had a bottle of paint in my car, I would have thrown it all over them. I did call them intolerant assholes tho. The one that hurt me the most are the people I work with who have gay children but are STILL voting yes on this! It's horrible and breaks my heart. I am soooooooooo excited to come to one of your many weddings and I'm pretty damn excited about the In N Out. Of course I just ate that for dinner, (a delicious #1 with extra cheese) but you can never have too much In N Out. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOU MK!!!

F*ck those conservative and ignorant gay hating bastards. If they want to keep marriage a purely heterosexual option, then those allowed to marry should not be allowed to divorce. Funny how they forget about their so called "values" when they tire of their husbands/wives.

You don't have to be gay to know how wrong Prop 8 is. I am not gay, no one in my immediate family is gay. I live in San Francisco, so I am around the gay community. I vote no on this, not just for the gift bag at one of the many weddings of MK, but because of this poem:

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out."

I totally agree with you, angel_i, and bitchyagain. My mom was crying cause she said she worries so much about what's going to happen to me if Obama doesn't win, and especially if McCain kicks it within the first year. The people going for Prop 8 are the same who were gunning for House File 341 (I think that was the name) where they wanted to make sexual orientation a mandatory question on applications, intake info, so you could legally be denied schooling, housing, a job, rights to children, all sorts of stuff. First Prop 8, then what?

Suzie Dirtypillows's picture

Omg, green princess is totally smiling cause she thinks she's gonna get a peen ride off Bruno.

Bossy...I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. You'd said "Catholics have Confirmations, Jews have Bar Mitzvahs" as in an "it's all the same, just a new name" sort of way. Well, that seems a very odd comparison, as both of those rights of passage are individual as far as I know, and are from two completely different religions in two different cultures. You wouldn't say to a Catholic kid though "oh, congrats on your Bar Mitzvah" after their confirmation, they aren't the same thing and not interchangable.

My biggest issue with the argument that "marriage has this traditional value and history" is that marriage does indeed have a history, but it's DEFINITELY changed a ton over the course of it. Marriage started as a contract, where the man pretty much took a wife and owned her like she was property. Love was definitely not a factor, and in the grand scheme of things, marriage for love is a relatively new concept.

The idea of "marriage" has been evolving, so I find the notion that it cannot evolve to include Same Sex couples to be ridiculous. It's that whole "seperate, but equal" stuff, which is just a way of saying "we kind of HAVE to include you, but we don't want to, so instead you can have this."

Really, the government has no place defining marriage or banning anyone from it. My other huge issue with it, is that American politics are supposed to have a separation of church and state. People's problems with gay marriage almost always stem from their personal religious beliefs (they pull out those same bible quotes which rest right below the "don't eat shrimp" passages, isn't picking and choosing fun?) which have no place in politics.

As a gay woman, this is something I feel strongly about. 40 years ago, this arguement was going on about race, which is just as ridiculous. I want to live in a country where I am considered a full citizen with all the rights of every other citizen available to me. If I lived in California I would definitely be voting NO on Prop 8, and would hope others would as well.

I am sick to my stomach about this prop. 8 thing. I live in northern California, and it amazes me, this huge anti-gay movement that has come out in response to this measure. I thought that the majority of Californian's would be more tolerant and understanding. It is blatant discrimintation and it just "irks" me.

Well, I see this is the yelling and screaming thread. I have only this to say, because it's been on my mind:

How you gonna say: EVERYONE should have the RIGHT to carry a gun. Everyone should have the RIGHT to protect themselves with such a lethal weapon. Everyone should have the RIGHT to shoot down an animal for food OR sport with a GUN....

But only SOME people can get married.
Why? Because its dangerous. WTF???

Quite frankly, it's them gun people who are wasting your time and money with this horseshit.

My neighbors have a "Yes on 8" banner in their front yard and it fucking makes me so angry every time I see it. They call themselves "good" Christians but yet they see no problem with denying an entire group of people their fundamental rights. I can't wait to vote tomorrow.

Same here, and I have a neighbor who started out with one "Yes on 8" sign, but has now progressed to about 5 huge signs in his yard. Ugh! I cannot wait for this to be over and I fervently hope the bill does NOT pass. In fact, I think I will become violently ill if it does pass.

These people thundering on about the sanctity of marriage have no instinct for privacy or personal freedom. They willingly believe in and worship a god who reads their innermost thoughts and convicts them of thought crimes. And yet, they belie their own confidence in an all knowing being by attempting to police the private love lives of other citizens on God's behalf.

I say there is no place for that in a democratic society, which is not about kowtowing to the moral majority, but about protecting personal liberties that do not in actuality cause harm to anyone.

Count me among all you whose gaydar blew out at level FABULOUS with Smirky McTwink. He looks like a Babylon go-go dancer from Queer as Folk.

And I caution my friends in CA of the further implications that Prop 8 might drag in. In MI, our Prop 2 in 2004 effectively did away with all domestic partner benefits in any agency receiving public funds. The backers of Prop 2 assured voters that civil unions would not be affected by this legislation.

They lied.

Bossy, your black right? So how would you feel if people said, well the word "Marriage" is essentially from the English language and since English is a European language that word can only constitute 2 Europeans being in love with one another, Therefore anyone who is NOT of European ancestry must come up with their own word for it. So basically it would be called something different but mean the same thing. How would you feel? Wouldn't you feel discriminated against, like you weren't good enough to use the word "Marriage" to define your love?

Why don't the gays simply accept civil unions and be done with it? It doesn't matter what happens anyway, if Osama wins the election tomorrow, in four years the backlash will so big that the least of Gays' problems will be Prop 8.

Everything that you have shared with us here is completely relevant to the issue at hand. I'm usually quite a thick-skinned person, but just reading your post - as all accounts of such experiences do - has upset me.

Essentially, this debate boils down to sex politics, and the normalised behavioural relationships between the sexes.

I have to despair each time I hear some maudlin appeal to the sentimental value attached to 'traditional' marriage. What makes this even more laughable - or frightening - is that they honestly do believe that the nuclear family of the mid 20th Century is the traditional marriage.

Let's just roll with this concept for a moment - ignoring, if we possibly can, multicultural marriages that pre-date Christianity by hundreds of years - and think about 19th Century Britain. Of course, I've only selected a tiny stretch of time to consider in the grand scheme of things - but hopefully that will highlight the futility of the 'traditional' marriage.

For the majority of the 19th Century, the married woman really had no sense of ownership. All of her earnings and possessions were the husband's. A woman could not divorce a man - although by the 1850s, men were free to divorce their wives on grounds of adultery. Any wages that a woman may have earned through work were sent directly to her husband.

Compare this to today's Western standard, and we see how dramatically marriage has changed. Clearly, the marriage of today is not the traditional marriage. Also note, that changes in marital law were not handed over by the gentry of the day; they were fought for by tooth and nail. The opponents of such acts of course fell back on the traditional argument, as many do in the face of reform today - and we could go further back in time to show that the 'traditional' argument was as much of a fallacy then as it is today.

When people appeal to tradition, they are not pining for some historical ideal that they see as being a standard. Rather, their ambitions are directed toward their own ego - their own desire to stamp themselves onto the world and to fix it in their own image.

Remember that it wasn't so long ago that a man supposedly had the right to smack his wife whenever he saw fit. How traditions have changed!

The 'tradition' argument is a complete joke, and it should sway none but the feeblest of minds.

Okay, first of all, I have never called anyone names on here simply because I disagreed with his or her opinion. Most others here are also capable of keeping the discussions above name-calling level. So you can get down off your cross.

Secondly, Plessy v. Ferguson said (regarding racially segregated facilities) that "separate but equal" is neither separate nor equal. It has been scientifically shown that sexuality is just as immutable as race. Why should members of either group be given fewer rights than other US citizens, whether it comes to drinking from the same water fountain or getting married to the person they love?
