Jennifer Hudson's Mother & Brother Found Dead

Sad news out of Chicago. Jennifer Hudson's mother was found dead in her Chicago home at around 3 this afternoon. Two people were found fatally shot in the South Side home. The family's church confirmed that one of the victims was 57-year-old Darnell Hudson. The identity of the other victim hasn't been confirmed yet.

Condolences to Jennifer Hudson and her family.

UPDATE: The other victim has been identified as Jennifer's brother, Jason. They were found by Jennifer's cousin. Police believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute. Police are reportedly looking for a man and a 7-year-old boy. (Source)

UPDATE II: The boy is Jennifer's nephew, Julian King. An Amber Alert has been issued. Police believe Julian was taken from the home. They are looking for a 1994 White Chevy Suburban with license plate: X584859. (Source)

UPDATE III: Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law, William Balfour, was arrested by police. JHud's nephew Julian is still missing. William isn't cooperating with police or giving any kind of information. They believe William kidnapped Julian from the home after the murders. Police are still looking for Julian.

William has a long, long criminal history. He has served 7 years in prison for attempted murder.

Neighbors are saying that William and Julia had been fighting for the past two weeks over a car. They say William sold her car without her permission. (Source)

Second: I don't get this fucking fascination with guns in the U.S. And it is a long-time fascination. Now, they're being smuggled across the border and we're having too many (mostly gang-related, drug driven) murders in Canada. Keep your god-damned guns. Innocent people are being killed here, too. Ever wonder why your country is so violent? Ours wasn't until the guns started coming in. Thank you so much.

--------------------------------------------------

So you're blaming the U.S. for the crime in your Country? It has nothing to do with criminals? What a joke.

The Sun Times is reporting that the crazy dude is in custody but the boy is still missing. It seems the dispute was over a car.

I know for sure that owning a gun won't protect me at all unless I'm allowed to carry it ANYWHERE and shoot anyone suspicious first.

Until that happens, I'm completely vulnerable because I can't fight back if I'm shot and dead.

No wonder crime rates are so high in the US. It's so convenient and easy to kill a person with a gun than a knife and get away.

To answer your point, yeahbuddy:
It's because "the gun" is so ingrained in American culture. The problem today started over 200 years ago.

I can't believe the gun law nuts are at it now?

Listen up...right now, in the United States, gun laws are at their most strict in history. And in Chicago, they have a higher murder rate than New York City, even though NYC has almost three times as many people! So murder in general is not going down. It is escalating.

Why? Because *criminals* do NOT care about gun laws. Or ANY laws. That is why they are called CRIMINALS. Because they commit CRIMES. (Get it? Crime/CRIMinal?)

And CRIMINALS will always manage to get an ILLEGAL gun. You ask around, and soon, especially in da hood, boom, here's your gun. Your ILLEGAL gun. For CRIMINALS.

It's so easy but so many (mainly liberals) can't seem to fathom it. So keep on making those gun laws that keep firearms away from law abiding citizens. Countless rapes, robberies and murders happen every year because the CRIMINAL has an ILLEGAL gun, and the victim has nothing.

Mustang Sally's picture

First of all, I hope that that little boy is found and is safe. Terrible.

Third: Provolone, you're an asshole. How could you possibly compare death from intentional murder by guns, to death by car accidents, trans fats, alcohol and cigarettes. Do you have a brain, at all?

This all pisses me off. Love Carrottop may be my only ally, but that's okay.

and lastly, driving while drunk is illegal so your argument makes no rational sense anyway. You sound so unbelievably ignorant...well I guess you just prove my point about the world and dumb fuckers

I agree about the mental capacity for pets and procreation especially. I understand the pro-gun argument, because something about some degenerate getting shot for trying to harm an innocent person is okay with me.

Unfortunately, guns end up harming more innocent people than knives, fire, beatings, etc. If the Columbine kids had knives, they may have hurt a few people, but could've been stopped. If the Virginia Tech guy were beating people down, he could've been stopped. When you get someone mentally unstable and they get access to a gun - legally or not - there's a much greater risk you end up with a far worse situation

The risk of getting shot living in a house that has guns is higher statistically speaking than living in a house that has no guns. Also, this usually occurs because of domestic disputes or accidental death with the weapon. Just saying, you may feel safer with a gun in the house, but it may not necessarily be true. Then again, if you live in a rough neighborhood, it could be an entirely different story.

Pathetic Humans- Prepare to write down the recipe!

shit a lot of people don't have the proper mentality to have a plastic knife. They certainly don't need a gun available, don't need to own pets, don't need to drive, and don't need to procreate either. A lot of people on this planet are just wasting time and air with their constant bullshit and unnecessary drama and evilness. And it's just truly sickening how people have taken something as simple as living right and turned into the huge fuckery it is now. You look around people tired, people starving, people hurting, people fighting over dumb shit like religion, race, sexual preference, land, food, money. Because it was so hard to just share your shit with others. Because material shit mattered so much, and being right about things that can never be proved.

Fuck I am so angry. I HATE living in this world so much!

One small note on gun control: the laws on the books aren't being enforced properly. We don't need new laws, we need the ones we have to be properly enforced.

One year during the Clinton administration (that's just how I remember it, it has very little to do with Clinton himself) there were hundreds of thousands of people (I think it was 500,000 but it's been so long it could have easily been 400,000 or 600,000) rejected by the background check system.

It's illegal to attempt to buy a gun if you're not legally allowed to have one.

Guess how many of those people attempting to illegally buy weapons were investigated after their applications were rejected?

None. There is no process for following up on such things.

We just need to enforce the laws we have, look how many people could have been investigated, with just cause.

@BalenciagaBitch, I just want to clarify that I'm not implying you have anything mentally wrong for owning a gun. Unfortunately a lot of people who don't necessarily have criminal records also don't have the proper mental capacity to warrant being able to possess a gun.

How many innocents have been killed by stray knives, blunt objects, or fists?

My heart goes out to jennifer, her family, and any victim of preventable gun violence.

"This ain't rock n roll. This is genocide!"

Having a gun doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to use it.

What if her mom had a gun in the bedroom, but this argument got out of control in the living room when she wasn't prepared? What if the guy knew where she kept her legally registered gun and used it against her?

In a perfect world, she would've been able to shoot this ass pimple as soon as he tried anything. Unfortunately it's not a perfect world, and in a lot of cases owning a gun doesn't equal protection.

I'm not completely against gun ownership, but really think people should have to undergo mental tests before being able to own a weapon.

Gun control will only be to take away the rights of the RESPONSIBLE gun owners, who wont be able to even fucking defend themselves if a gun were shoved into their face. Get real...The thugs will ALWAYS be getting guns, so dont take away MY rights as a RESPONSIBLE fucking gun owner so I cant defend my family and myself to benefit those who have no regard for the law at ALL.

Crimes are committed with or without guns. If people want to kill, they will kill whether they have a gun or not. It is not guns that do the killing, it is people who do the killing. Take away the guns, criminals will ALWAYS find a way to get them regardless. If they can't obtain a gun, they will use whatever it is at their immediate disposal. I live alone, out in the sticks. I am 5'1, 92lbs- Methheads break in and rob people almost on a daily basis. An old couple 5miles from me had two high fuckers break in on them and beat the old man and then went after the old lady. Her husband managed to crawl and get a gun, shot the little punk (wounded, not killed)and probably saved his wife's life. Do you think living alone and hearing that, I am not going to take measures to protect myself, especially in this day and age? I have taken safety courses and know how to use a gun. Call me a horrible person, but I would rather be that than a dead, defenseless one. I too am off of my soapbox and apologize for the rant.

Thank you for contributing that. I grew up in Chicago, most of the time in Hyde Park. A lot of my friends called it the suburb in the city because it's not what you would think of when you think of the South Side. Chicago isn't all murder and madness.

And yeah, the right of citizens to keep and bear arms is in the second amendment to the Constitution:

ImpertinentVixen's picture

What the weapon was is immaterial. He could have used an axe, knife, or a heavy bludgeoning weapon (granted, those things take more time). The victims would be just as dead. The point is, someone wanted someone else dead. There's innumerable ways to do that. Making guns illegal will never solve that problem.
