Jennifer Hudson's Mother & Brother Found Dead

Sad news out of Chicago. Jennifer Hudson's mother was found dead in her Chicago home at around 3 this afternoon. Two people were found fatally shot in the South Side home. The family's church confirmed that one of the victims was 57-year-old Darnell Hudson. The identity of the other victim hasn't been confirmed yet.

Condolences to Jennifer Hudson and her family.

UPDATE: The other victim has been identified as Jennifer's brother, Jason. They were found by Jennifer's cousin. Police believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute. Police are reportedly looking for a man and a 7-year-old boy. (Source)

UPDATE II: The boy is Jennifer's nephew, Julian King. An Amber Alert has been issued. Police believe Julian was taken from the home. They are looking for a 1994 White Chevy Suburban with license plate: X584859. (Source)

UPDATE III: Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law, William Balfour, was arrested by police. JHud's nephew Julian is still missing. William isn't cooperating with police or giving any kind of information. They believe William kidnapped Julian from the home after the murders. Police are still looking for Julian.

William has a long, long criminal history. He has served 7 years in prison for attempted murder.

Neighbors are saying that William and Julia had been fighting for the past two weeks over a car. They say William sold her car without her permission. (Source)

@Aunt Bea, I understand your point. But a gun was made for one purpose and one purpose only.

--------------------------------------------------

I agree with anti gun people here - other then my AK47 - I stay away from guns (j/k)

But I don't think we will ever be able to resolve the gun problem since guns, like drugs ALWAYS manage to get into the hands of the criminals. That is what they do.

I jumped the gun (no pun intended) - because there has been so much U.S. bashing here lately that I confused your opinion with an attack - Sorry -

That's cool, Bea! :)
I'm glad we're able to have a semi-serious discussion here without it turning weird!
I do wish MK would post something else silly to round out the night though, it's a very depressing way to end a Friday (even though it's actually saturday morning at 4am for me)!

Guns shumns..it's not about the gun, it's about the person holding the gun. What if the guy and anyone else who has ever killed with a gun, beat them to death with a baseball bat or a golf club? Are we gonna outlaw baseball bats and golf clubs?!

If your against all things being killed I hope your a vegan, otherwise it reeks of hypocrisy. Some people enjoy hunting, shooting ranges and protecting their property. Let's call out the elephant in the room, it's inner city youth that abuse the right to bear arms ALOT more then any other segment of the population. And yes columbine happened (before you all bring that up) but whats that compared to a week in Chicago, Detroit, LA etc. etc.

I didn't say I was against all things being killed now did I? I said I was against GUNS, because their sole purpose is to kill. Thanks for taking the time to read, though.

Personally, I am a single woman and I fucking want guns. The world is too unsafe for me to decide, "Oh, I won't get raped or killed, so I'll spout single-minded cliches about the evils of guns."

Fair enough, but when you come home early one day and find your new boyfriend schtuping some young slut from his office and in a blind rage you reach for that gun, you'll regret it.

It's the ingrained nature of the gun in American culture and history that makes it such an insurmountable problem (it's a part of what makes America, America), along with the ease of their availablity.

--------------------------------------------------

I'll agree with that. It's been ingrained from the Good Ole Boys all the way to the Gangsta Rappers and everyone in between.

I don't own a gun and I don't condone hunting - I jumped the gun (no pun intended) - because there has been so much U.S. bashing here lately that I confused your opinion with an attack - Sorry -

Yeah, guns are bad, bad, bad. :) Anyone can kill dozens of people in a few minutes if they really set their mind to it. Guns are convenient tools to kill people with ease.

Ban gun ownership for good, or pass a law or something that allow me to carry a gun "anywhere" so that I can fight back at least.

Second: I don't get this fucking fascination with guns in the U.S. And it is a long-time fascination. Now, they're being smuggled across the border and we're having too many (mostly gang-related, drug driven) murders in Canada. Keep your god-damned guns. Innocent people are being killed here, too. Ever wonder why your country is so violent? Ours wasn't until the guns started coming in. Thank you so much.
___________________
It's unfair and frankly retarded to say that America is responsible for the rise of violent crime in Canada. As if our degenerate gun-toting gangsters snuck across the border and put their guns to the heads of your sweet little canadian boys and made them commit crime. God damm if the whole fucking world doesn't blame us for their problems.

Who shot them? It sounds like the boy was staying with his grandmother (Jennifer's mother). Is the boy Jennifer's brother's son or is he her sister's son? Is the man Jennifer's ex-brother-in law or is he the boyfriend or husband of Jennifer's ex-sister-in-law? So many questions . . . my heart goes out to the family.

I wub yew, Mustang Sally. Yes, you're completely rght. Before the gangs and guns came here, it was safe to walk around at night in Canada.

oh no it wasn't. I grew up in a chi chi neighbourhood. i was almost abducted at age 13 in broad daylight, and there were 3 rapes near the library where i lived.

then there were the old bums living in the ravine we used to cut through to get to school.

I remember lots of crime. It just didn't stop us from living that's what I notice is different today. Kids aren't even allowed to walk to school alone or in groups.

People are scared of everything these days.

Jus sayin....shooting non-threatening people is also illegal. Let's get rid of everything that can cause harm. That's my argument or rather the argument of many people here. Of course vehicles are necessary but booze isn't. So lets make alcohol illegal, let's just turn into the atheist version of Iran. Not sure why I'm 'ignorant' but then again simple minded people(like you) throw around cliched ad hominim attacks like that around. At least be original, maybe after a nap and a xanex you will be.

And no I wasn't looking to cause trouble but when someone has a hissy fit believe me its gonna get thrown back into their self loathing face.

Guys I've never ever understood my country's fascination with guns or why the NRA feels the need for the average citizen to own a semi automatic weapon in their home.

There is no way winning a debate with a gun nut. I hate all guns and wish the person who invented would have been shot in the face. (ha ha)

--------------------------------------------------

Um. I hate drugs, rapists, murderers, child molesters, terrorists, and Paris Hilton. I wish they ALL weren't invented. But they're here. Once again, you can take all the guns in the world and shove them up Palin's ass AND there will still be a nut who gets their hands on one and kills someone.

I don't know where you are from, you didn't say, but I would bet the rent you have similar problems.

The wrong people will always be able to get their hands on guns. To think that a normal, rational, decent person would go in and kill people, is ridiculous.

Sorry, I am in the UK, I should've said and yes we have a lot of problems (the hot topic at the moment is youth knife crime) so we are far from perfect.
I understand that the wrong people will always get access to weapons, that isn't my point. It's the ingrained nature of the gun in American culture and history that makes it such an insurmountable problem (it's a part of what makes America, America), along with the ease of their availablity.

I do not want a gun in my home, I do not want guns readily availble for just about anyone to get legally or not.

But it's a catch 22. The bad guys are packin and the cops need to try and keep up.
