JLo, Give The Girl Some Of Yours
Everyone was smiling at the Fashion Group's 25th Annual Night of Stars yesterday and trying not to think about the fact that Allegra Versace is the size of one of JLo's pinky toes. Now, Allegra has had many, many, many, many problems with ze food in the past and it looks like she still does. So what does her mommy Donatella do about it? She puts her in a dress and takes her to a party! To be fair, I don't think Donatella can see that well, given the fact that her massive swollen roid lips probably block her vision every now and again.
Here's a few more of JLo, Skele.....I mean...Marc Anthony, Allegra and Donatella last night. I can't call him Skeletor when he's standing next to Allegra. He's a larditor compared to her. And JLo's still making those "I'm so sexy" faces. They look more like "I'm sooo sweeepy" or "I'm soooo constipatedy" faces.

I learned in cultural anthro class that Anorexia is a Western disease. Why would people in third world countries purposefully starve themselves when they are already starving? And anyway, some countries ideals of what is beautiful is much, much different.

ED= eating disorder. Ya everyone's family is weird in their own way. No one is perfect, but at least, I was able to push through the pain and memories and create a nice life for myself. It's just so sad to see this beautiful girl with the whole world at her fingertips doing this to herself. I did just look up the pics from Milan and she is gorgeous with some weight on her. I know this sounds strange, as my mother had a baby, but she was a lesbian and could not come out to my family so that is why she abused herself so much. I found this out at 17, even though we lived in Hillcrest (the gay community in San Diego) with a woman who looked like a dude when I was little. I just did not make the connection until after she had passed away, and it was like "oh, duh!" I hope your brother has not self-harmed because of abuses he has suffered. I just don't understand why people have such strong feelings on whether someone is gay or not. Who cares? A good friend of mine is gay and just found out he has full-blown AIDS. I see his struggle in different ways all of the time. It's just so sad.

If I had a daughter that was this ill (both physically and mentally), perhaps I'd think about staying home with her rather than parading around at fancy parties. Allegra's dying a slow death.
Just curious, but are eating disorders more prevalent in western and/or wealthier countries (i.e. Japan, Middle East)?

Poor ALlegra! She was absolutley beautiful after her last stint in rehab and gained 20 lbs. If it's any consolation, every one has a fucked up family. My brother is gay and I've had to deal with people hurting him, even people in our own family. As his big sister, it gave me a warped sense of justice. I get manical when the defenseless are being hurt. Sorry someone wasn't around to protect you and give your mom the what for.

I don't know whether to be comforted or disturbed by the fact that Allegra always looks happy. She poses for the camera like a model. I guess she's been living with her problem for so long it doesn't affect her mental outlook anymore???? I don't get it.

This is so sad. I hate that our society is like this. I would love to have a baby but I am scared to death of how it will ruin my body. Shallow, huh? I hope one day I can get to a point where shit like that does not matter anymore but I have been struggling with ED's and addiction since a teen. I agree someone should do something about Allegra, but I think they've been trying all her life. These aren't new problems. I mean, if your kid had a problem that was going on for more than a decade, would you keep them locked up the entire time? It's not possible or humane.
Last I had heard, she was getting over this and had been to rehab. Sad to see nothing is working for the kid and this wasn't some adolescent phase she went through, but is going to be doing this her whole life.
They always struck me as sort of a weird family. I thought it strange that Versace left everything to Allegra and nothing to the little boy. And she was so young. They decided she should head up this fashion empire when she was like four or something. I mean, when kids are that age, wouldn't you just divide up your property and let them both have half instead of deciding on their whole life then?

Frito - she needs to be hospitalized. You can't force someone with that severe of an eating disorder to eat, or keep it down.
But I agree, I wouldn't be parading her around, I'd be trying to get her help.
Okay, I'm not a parent and I'm not even close to being ready for parenthood but shit if that was my kid, or even someone I knew, I would not let their ass out of the house without a sammich and a can of ensure. Everytime I got in the car with that person, I would get them a milkshake or some shit. Holy hell. That girl is just wasting away.

Maybe you're going to have to be really blunt with your parents. Write them a to the point letter if they won't listen, cite issues & give examples of their behavior. Get your sister a book that's on her level that deals with self esteem & body issues. Tell her it really helped you when you were her age & you thought she might enjoy it.

Donatella, JHo and Skeletor I could stick in a vat of hot oil and laugh while they melted to death. But my cold dark heart truly goes out to Allegra. I hope she gets the help she needs.
That is just sad and a powerful representation of what the fashion world and the media can do to a young person in our times. I wish her well and a manwich.

I applaud you for seeing what a serious situation your sister is in & not ignoring it. If no one else in your family is going to do something, it's up to you. My sister used "Help Your Teenager Beat an Eating Disorder" when my niece had some issues. She highly recommends this book & feels it helped open the doors to talking with my niece. If that book isn't for you, there's many others out there. Your sister is lucky she has you. Best of luck.

Allegra, that poor girl is so caught up in her families business that she's dying because of it. Just another example of someone with everything to live for killing themselves because of it.
