Jenny McCarthy Has Powers

Jenny McCarthy's son was diagnosed with autism and she believes the MMR vaccine was the cause. She even wrote five books on the subject. Well, thanks to the grace of God and the banishment of evil bread foods, her autistic son is no longer autistic. Jenny says that she put her son on a strict no-wheat, no-dairy diet and his autism eventually disappeared! Or something like that. Before you give her the side-eye, read what she tells UsWeekly:

"I made a deal with God. I said, 'You fix my boy, you show me the way and I'll teach the world how I did it.'"

God listened to her and replied, "No bread. No milk. No problem." Jenny listened and that was that! I made up that last part by the way.

Jenny recalls the moment she started to believe that her son was "recovered." It was while he was watching an episode of Spongebob. She said, "I heard Evan laugh...I jumped on the bed and started screaming. When he finally hugged me, I prayed, 'Please God don't let this be the only time.'"

She will continue to be an advocate for autism awareness. Jenny said that she recently tried to speak to John McCain about it, because he's spoken about autism and vaccines before. Jenny said, "McCain had come out and said he thinks there's enough evidence between vaccines and autism, so I got on a helicopter [to meet him for] an on-camera interview. By the time I got there, the campaign manager said, 'He's ahead in the polls, and this is too controversial, and he doesn't want to go one way or the next.'"

I'm sure Jenny replied with, "THAT'S BULLSHIT!"

I don't get it. My 33-year-old son lives on a strict diet of no gluten and no lactose to make his IBS or Crohn's (no one knows for sure) somewhat more tolerable (and it doesn't always work) but it CURES autism?

So, the diet doesn't cure what it ought to cure (digestive problems) but cures a brain development disorder? Hmmmm.

I think what she is trying to say and is getting lost in the translation is.......that some doctors are starting to find that there is actually an allergic-like reaction within the brain of some children. By eliminating high allergy causing foods (glutins, wheat, lactose, etc) that there is an actual change within the brain that can be measured in scans.
-----

Thank you. It's really annoying to see people write the same messages of disbelief over and over again when there are people on here who present at least somewhat plausible connections (I'm talking about gluten et al, not vaccines). I guess they don't read the previous comments. Anyway yet again I'm not saying I necessarily believe Jenny 'cured' her son but I can see how a change in his diet (considering my family experiences) might have helped his condition.

I am a school psychologist and although it is any parents choice to alter their child's diet accordingly, I do NOT believe that her son was CURED by a choice of food. The ONLY way that children with Autism make improvements is with intensive speech, social and educational therapy with trained professionals (and obviously working closely with the family). Children with Autism suffer from significant language and social delays. Ms. McCarthy is doing a disservice to families by not advocating for proven therapy in addition to her personal beliefs.
-----

No offense, but I'm sure you know that people with autism don't necessarily just suffer from language and social delays. My severely autistic sister understands when my family communicates with her but a good portion of the issue is the fact that she first has to be *engaged*--i.e. she is often in her mental 'world'. And regardless, aside from symptoms of a problem there is always a reason for them--genetic abnormalities, genetic triggers, environmental causes, whatever.

Ah, I see she's gone straight into the "delusion" stage. You can't "recover" from autism any more than you can recover from Down's syndrome, or an amputated leg. The kid's autism can be TREATED, in ways that lessen the severity of it. But cured? Never.

I fucking hate this woman, because she is the embodiment of a stupid person who insists that only they are right, and if you don't agree with her 100% then you are an evil moron.

And she is a typical STUPID parent of of an autistic child, in that she wants to find something (vaccines) other than herself to blame for her kid's affliction. She doesn't wanna accept that hey, these things happen and she just happened to have a genetic predisposition and her ex probably did too.

No, that would mean it was her "fault." So she blames the vaccines despite the HUGE flaws in that theory and the science that has disproven it.

Especially since autistic children CAN and DO laugh. My brother has been autistic all his life (including periods with zero bread and dairy) and he's been laughing ever since he learned how. And it definitely didn't come from vaccines, because he was tested THE VERY DAY HE WAS FUCKING BORN.

Deal with it, Jenny. The sooner you acknowledge that no matter how many vaccines you protest and diets you put him on HE WILL NEVER BE CURED, the happier everyone -- including your kid -- will be. You're giving a lot of fucking false hope to desperate parents, based solely on ONE PERSON'S CRACK DIET and not on any scientific evidence.

Oh and re: McCain, she's such a moron she doesn't realize that he doubtlessly had someone google autism, found out that it existed long before vaccines of any kind and that autism is shown in the brains of fetii. So he cancelled so he wouldn't be associated with the crazy anti-vaccine skank, while giving back a nice politic answer.

It's really pathetic that she can't see that that is what happened.

While I am happy that her son is "cured", I don't believe that autism can be cured with a change in diet. If that's the case, then perhaps he was MISDIAGNOSED all along and instead was suffering some something else.
-----------------------

Lucy, no shit! that does happen. Was talking with a neurologist recently and mri's are now WAY more sensitive than they used to be and can pick up a lot more detail. People were misdiagnosed, some good, some bad - funny how people can't let go of a diagnosis even faced with evidence to the contrary. Must be scary.

Some autistic kids respond very well to a Gluten and Cassein Free Diet. That being said, others (like mine), dont respond at all... What i did notice in both of my kids with Autism was that when they were around five, i saw HUGE improvements. In this one year, they went from saying Mommy and Daddy for the first time to reading on a third grade level. We had them both in Therapy from the age 2 and a half and 18 month (the younger one got his DX way sooner)but thought its not helping AT ALL. Dont know how old Jenny`s son is, but maybe he just hit that milestone around the same time she started the diet. Or her kid is one that responds to it. I wish her the best of luck with whatever works for her, but the deal with God (u make it work, and tell the world how its done) is like trying to say she invented GF diets. And THAT makes her a big DingDong..lol

****She wore far too much rouge and not quite enough clothes last night. Thats always a sign of dispair in a woman.******

i'm definitely givin' her the side-eye, hardcore. my mom is a special-ed teacher and i've been around her students all of my life, many of whom have been autistic. it's not really something you recover from. autistic kids (and grownups) have alot of trouble dealing with other people in general. they tend to have problems understanding emotions, or other people's motives. this does not mean they're stupid, far from it - alot of them are really, really smart. rainman kinda smart.
i try to keep an open mind about stuff like this, but i'm highly, highly skeptical. i'm willing to guess that the doctor who initially diagnosed her son with autism was misinformed or mistaken. i highly, highly doubt that a change in diet would affect anyone's autism. most autistic people have extremely picky eating habits anyway, and it would be pretty difficult to get any autistic child to adhere to a diet at all. furthermore, autism is not a disease, it's a disorder - it's built into the dna. autistic people can learn to cope with their problems with various therapies, but it's not something that can be cured or will go away. this also makes me extremely skeptical about the link between the MMR vaccine and autism. autism is not something you can catch. again, it's a disorder, not a disease - it is built into your software.
by the way, you know who else is autistic? tom cruise. truth.

simoneenomis's picture

While I think its admirable that Jenny McCarthy is bringing awareness to autism, I really don't think not eating dairy or bread will eliminate all cases of autism. I think some people are just born with it like any other mental disability. But hey, I'm not a doctor, scientist or autism researcher.
What we should be talking about is how to respectfully treat those and include those with autism in everyday society. Help them cope with it and help them feel "normal."
People need to stop making stupid and ignorant comments to get their fifteen minutes extended. Guess what? It's not funny.
This coming from someone who's sibling has autism.

If done properly, a gluten-free and dairy-free diet is very healthy BUT does not "cure" autism.

I fucking hate her. First she helps spread the bullshit about the link between autism & vaccines, even though all the research shows one has never been found, & now she's trying to say that some kind of "Divine Intervention" "cured" her son's autism. She needs to go back to burping & flashing her titties.

And my husband's cousin tryed the whole gluten-free diet thing with her autistic son. He did seem to get slightly better, but other times it looked like the gluten-free diet wasn't making any difference at all. So I think they finally just gave up on that theory all together.

But people persist with their "But my kid..." or "My friend says..." type crap, which all proves absolute dick.
