Jenny McCarthy Has Powers

Jenny McCarthy's son was diagnosed with autism and she believes the MMR vaccine was the cause. She even wrote five books on the subject. Well, thanks to the grace of God and the banishment of evil bread foods, her autistic son is no longer autistic. Jenny says that she put her son on a strict no-wheat, no-dairy diet and his autism eventually disappeared! Or something like that. Before you give her the side-eye, read what she tells UsWeekly:

"I made a deal with God. I said, 'You fix my boy, you show me the way and I'll teach the world how I did it.'"

God listened to her and replied, "No bread. No milk. No problem." Jenny listened and that was that! I made up that last part by the way.

Jenny recalls the moment she started to believe that her son was "recovered." It was while he was watching an episode of Spongebob. She said, "I heard Evan laugh...I jumped on the bed and started screaming. When he finally hugged me, I prayed, 'Please God don't let this be the only time.'"

She will continue to be an advocate for autism awareness. Jenny said that she recently tried to speak to John McCain about it, because he's spoken about autism and vaccines before. Jenny said, "McCain had come out and said he thinks there's enough evidence between vaccines and autism, so I got on a helicopter [to meet him for] an on-camera interview. By the time I got there, the campaign manager said, 'He's ahead in the polls, and this is too controversial, and he doesn't want to go one way or the next.'"

I'm sure Jenny replied with, "THAT'S BULLSHIT!"

What a very eloquent way to state the facts. I think I'm going to copy and paste your comment so I can repeat it each time I'm having the same argument with people. I do not know anyone with autism and all I know is that there are many kids out there with it so there's got to be a reason.

One thing I don't get is that while I feel bad for parents with autistic kids, can they stop putting those damn bumper stickers on their cars? "Autism Awareness"? WTF? We're aware it's out there, all right? Besides, wouldn't you be embarassed to let the other drivers know that your kids are retarded? That being said, that shit is scary.

I'm happy for her that her son is doing better!

I thought it was Playboy. Anyfamewhore, good riddance to this hot mess of a horrible mother. I expect she'll invent some other crisis to draw attention to herself, and then miraculously solve it. She ought to be arrested for Munchhausen's by proxy.

It's one thing for her to be stupid enough to believe that vaccines cause Autism its another to think she can cure it, wasn't the most important thing this stupid ho ever did was be on MTV or am I mistaken?

~ It is only when we have lost everything that we truly know what we are made of... ~

Wonderful, he's saved. He's cured. NOW MAYBE SHE'LL STFU

What a horrible mother, to refer to her child as "broken". I just spent the day with the guy in my avie and four other men who have autism. Ain't a one of `em "broken".

My boyfriend of 10 years has Asperger's. Broken? With a PhD from Yale and a 6-figure job AND tenure? LOL yeah, ok.

KA's picture

FUCK THIS BITCH! Fuck her and fuck US Weekly for putting her shit on the cover. She's a piece of fucking shit. Her kid wasn't broken. He didn't need to be fixed. I have a 5 year old autistic boy that means the WORLD to me and I cannot believe this horrid bitch and the lies she spews, and all the damn people out there that listen to her. VACCINES DO NOT CAUSE AUTISM. The vaccines my child received did not contain any mercury in them. But yours did! Mine did! MK's did! Why aren't we ALL AUTISTIC? Stupid fucking bitch. I hate her like I hate Hitler. Okay maybe a little less, but she SUCKS! She needs to shut her fucking mouth already.

My child is beautiful the way he is and he doesn't need to be fixed. FUCK YOU JENNY MCCARTHY!

Look her up on amazon.com. She has written a book every 18 months since she became pregnant! Can she cure autism? NO Can she shut up about herself? NO

I am a mom who vaccinated, ate organic and fed my kids organic. One is at the top of her class and the other has autism. And no gf/cf doesn't work for everyone. What does work? Lots of intensive therapy which starts showing progress when your child is about 5-7. My son is the same age as her son and has "graduated" from special ed. Is he recovered or cured? no But he is much better at coping, most of the time.

I hope there is not ONE parent of an autistic child out there who believes her crap or feels bad because they can't "cure" their kid like she did!

"You fix my boy" - what ... the ... hell!!!

He isn't broken, you ignoramus. And he deserves a mother a damn site better than you if you think of him that way.

*and note-I live in NJ and we say "you guys",sorry*

M.E.'s picture

Both of my kids have been vaccinated, both received the MMR shot and they don't have any issues.

Now do I think there may be some truth to vaccines and autism, possibly, but no one really knows what causes autism.

I do however beleive that our children are being over vaccinated, there are a total of 28 vaccinations now, for just 0-4 years old:

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/downloads/child/2008/08_0-6yr...

I'd almost rather not have my kid get the chicken pox vaccination and have them get the pox.

It's getting ridiculous.

Then for 7-18 years old, there is another schedule.

"Paris is fucking lame. She's more offensive to me than anything. She's a total, raging, disgusting, rich, lazy party slut. I pray that my daughter will not turn out like her." - Dave Grohl

First, I have a daughter with autism who has done extremely well on the gf/cf diet. She is not cured but she is very high functioning, and I credit it to the diet. It seems to help with sensory issues which made her more receptive to the various therapies she's received (and continues to receive).

The theory behind the vaccines is that some children are being born today with compromised immune systems (due to many factors both environmental and genetic). The idea is that these children are more sensitive, so while vaccinations may not cause autism, it may be a trigger. No one knows what causes autism, but researchers believe that it's a combination of a genetic predisposition and an environmental trigger(s) that makes autism develop.

I think my daughter was born with autism because she was always very quiet and did not drastically regress after her MMR. However, i received a flu shot when I was pregnant, so I'm not ruling that out either.

One theory why the diet works is that children with ASD are predisposed to having gut issues, and the gluten and casein from wheat and dairy leach into the bloodstream and have a neurological effect. The diet has not been "proven" but there has been research confirming a connection between the gut and the brain.

Finally, I am sick of arguing whether or not there is an increase or there always was 1 in 150 children diagnosed with autism. the point is that there are 1 in 150 children with autism - that is a lot, and we need to figure out how to help these children and their families. This is a public health crisis that our govt is not prepared to deal with. IN some states insurance companies do not pay for treatments for autism leaving our school systems strapped and forced to pay for services (and in many cases the schools do not do this). In the meantime, families have to quit their jobs to take care of their children. And then what happens in adulthood with these children? It's a scary prospect and I guarantee you will continue to here about autism...this is simply not another fad diagnosis.

Mel-Tang's picture

I have seen studies where parents claimed their children were diagnosed as being autistic, and just by simply changing their diets, they showed significant improvement in their social/cognitive behaviors. I also believe that shots CAN affect a person's body in ways that maybe we don't know about yet. It is a foreign substance being put into a little body. Maybe it's just the body's way of handling it.

Any person that has taken at least an undergraduate Statistics class knows that just because the "rate" of people with Autism seems to be incresing, doesn't necessaily mean that it actually is. What is in fact probably happening is that with recent discoveries about the disease, better diagnostics, and more research than ever about it, people that were previously seen a hundred years ago as just "mentally insane" are actually now getting diagnosed properly as Autistic.

Thank you for saying that. (and about the shades of gray - I was thinking about that too) I didn't even take undergrad class in Stats, so I got them words, nawmsayin'? O yeah - I could probably find them if I looked but hey! you had them right there at your disposal.

Ha. I don't think so, really....but I'm not sure. I hang with a crowd that's split on the vaccination thing. I skipped two sets for my daughter because they were for things that are REALLY uncommon (I can't remember exactly what now) and I just felt like she didn't need to be getting shot up with stuff if she wasn't gonna be dealing with it....

I've read some crazy ass shit about vaccines but like assholes, everyone's got an opinion backed by facts and figures so I'm still undecided. My main goal is to keep the body as clean as possible. If we travel, we'll vaccinate fersure. (well, sometimes it's a rule)

I highly doubt Autism is "caused" by vaccines( but rather a brain disorder one is born with, and possibly a genetic link) or "cured" by diet. If he had it and now he doesn't, that just means he never had it in the first place!Perhaps it's something else altogether?

It's NOT vaccine! My 3 children have all the same vaccinations and only one has Aspergers! She is full of SHIT! I think when her child went to school she heard the whispers "there's nothing wrong with her kid" so she explains it away with "my kid is cured" f'n whore

I was unaware that Jenny was also an MD. I'm now totally convinced a substandard actress knows more than all those doctors and researchers who wasted all that time studying autism.

For Jenny's next Nobel Prize winning feat, she will go on to cure AIDS and feminine itching.

Sassyfras's picture

It's quite possible many of his behaviors were caused by his diet. I control my son's ADHD through a strict diet. While this doesn't work for ALL kids, it does work for some. It takes me forever to grocery shop now since I have to scrutinize all the labels. When we start looking at what's really in our food and the potential destructiveness it can cause within our bodies..it's really frightening - Preservative chemicals, artificial dyes made from COAL TAR derivatives (yes we are eating color made from the by product of distilled coal!) vast amounts of high fructose corn syrup, injected hormones, etc....Then you add in the possibility of milk, gluten allergies, and it becomes overwhelming.
I always recommend to parents to try changing the diet before turning to medications. Yeah, the food may cost you IF it works, but then again, the cost of some of these behaviors medications are outrageous!

Who needs research scientists when we have Jenny McCarthy? Now a bunch of idiots will refuse to get their kids vaccinated.

Submitted by D on October 17, 2008 - 6:13am.

Yes, thank you- this is an excellent point! The same is true for many other mental health disorders that appear to be increasing in prevalence when the reality is that the stigma of being diagnosed with a mental health disorder is somewhat less than it was, say, 50 years ago (although it is still an unfortaunte part of life.)

And also, as some other posters have said, autism cannot be cured. It is possible that her son, if autistic, is what is known as 'high-functioning.' there are so many shades of grey with regard to autism...i have a sibling who is autistic and he, in some ways, is VERY high functioning and yet every now and then it will become evident that there is some impairment (especially in social functioning). I feel bad for all the parents who are going to listen to another non-informed celebrity, and believe their children can be cured of autism, and then become upset when they realize their children are not making a miraculous recovery.
I hope that her son continues to make improvements (my brother has made leaps and bounds since he was first diagnosed) but not leave people with the false belief that a very serious physiological, genetic disorder can suddenly 'disappear'

So, the cumulative efforts of thousands of doctors and research scientists can't cure autism, but Jenny McCarthy can? Did it involve nose picking or farting?
**************************************************

Team Valtrex said it best, once again.

While I admire Jenny's efforts to help her kid, she's just a bimbo actress who made a living playing a ditzy blond and posing in Playboy. I don't think parents should be looking to her for advice. And she's in for a rude awaking when she realizes Autism can't be "cured".

That would be like asking Leah Remini for child rearing advice. That turned out great: a spoiled brat 4 year-old who she concedes rule the house and is still in diapers a drinking from a bottle.

So, he had food allergies, was misdiagnosed and she blamed it on the mmr vaccine the whole time? Lots of just plain old neglected kids are being diagnosed as autistic since they don't know how to speak and are completely withdrawn from lack of parental stimulation. Wonder how many bought into this broad's bs about vaccines and never even attempted to connect with their kids? If they won't even speak to or hold their children while they are infants they will latch onto any excuse to blame it on someone else.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
I agree. Autism cannot be cured because it's genetic, in the brain, etc. It will always be there and that needs to be ok. Environmental factors can make it worse, in my opinion, so changing diet does help for some kids but it won't work for all as someone already stated. My son is autistic and he hugs me and shows compassion and care for others (supposedly something he shouldn't do), so it's a huge spectrum.

While I empathize with her as a mother of an autistic child, I can't listen to her for more than a few minutes. She's still angry and I find that hard to deal with. Maybe the righteous bs, too. On the other hand, at least she didn't pack her kid away with junkfood like the Revoltas.

I honestly do not feel that it is quite an "epidemic" in the sense that the rate of people developing Autism is actually increasing, but I do feel like the rate of diagnosis is what is actually increasing. People now are probably just as Autistic as they've always been, since maybe even the beginning of time, it's just that we're better able to classify it, when previously, understanding mental illness was something that was not common place until the last century.
