Beyond Hood Rat Stuff
After hearing this story, Latarian "Hood Rat Stuff" Milton probably said, "Damn. That boy is hardcore."
Warning. This story involves a little boy doing evil, evil things, so if you're looking for something uplifting go read about Heidi and Spencer serving food at Taco Bell. That was a joke.
So...a 7-year-old boy broke into the reptile center at a zoo in Outback Australia on Wednesday morning. For the next 35-minutes the boy killed several reptiles by beating them with rocks. The boy then threw some live and dead reptiles over the fence into the crocodile enclosure. He even climbed another fence to watch the crocodile eat the reptiles. The boy killed 13 animals including a large turtle, bearded dragons, goannas, Thorny Devils and Western Blue tongues.
At first, zoo officials had no idea what the boy had done. They came into work that morning and found Terry the Crocodile eating all of his reptile friends. When officials watched the CCTV footage, they found out what the "expressionless" boy had done. Security cameras didn't catch the boy because of how small he is.
When the boy was questioned, he wouldn't admit anything. The zoo cannot press charges because of his age, but they are considering suing his parents. A zoo official said: "By all accounts he's quite a nasty seven-year-old. If we can't put the blame on to the child, then someone has to accept the responsibility."
Is it too early to start drinking again? What. The. Fuck. Okay, now I know why some parents put their children on wrist leashes. I will never make fun of that again.

This was in 2007...from this article, it sounds like the entire fucking place is out of control. I didn't give it the "murder capital of australia" label. i notice the word "aborigines" being bandied about - is there any proof that this boy is a native? and beyond that, there is the unfortunate fact that a seven-year-old's brain and personality are NOT fully developed and a child of that age cannot always distinguish between reality and fantasy, nor can it appreciate the consequences of its actions.
notice that most of the time when people speak of "the child" they do refer to the child as "it". this is probably an outward indication of what we know within ourselves, that a child of seven is far from being a distinct person in its own right.

Rabbit Fences was this movie with Keith Brannigan made maybe ten years ago. It might be called Rabbit Proof Fences.
Back in the day the australian government took a lot of the aboriginal kids away from their parents and put them in homes. It was basically the same situation...kids were being sexually abused, parents were drinking, kids left alone for months on end while parents went on walkabouts, whatever. The movie is about these two kids that run away across the outback to get back to their grandma. I watched it and thought it was sad, but now I'm like WTF? The Alice Springs territory just spent $21.6 million to create housing for these kids and the Aboriginal Leaders are asking for MORE money and more of these kids to be taken away from their parents and put in homes. This is of course AFTER they already received big settlements a few generations back for this being done by the government. The Australian Government needs to ask for the fucking settlement money back.
The alice springs paper in 2007:
"The community has to start taking responsibility for this problem and parents have to be made accountable."
Meanwhile the West Australian government is spending $21.6 million to set up safe housing for children at risk in the troubled northern WA town of Halls Creek.
The National Indigenous Times reports the move comes almost a year after the town's Aboriginal elders called for children to be taken away from abusive parents amid reports some children as young as three had sexually transmitted diseases.
"Judith Butters, chief of the Yura Yungi Aboriginal medical service at the Halls Creek community - 2,963km north of Perth - had said a boarding house for children was needed to let them break out of an alcohol-induced cycle of abuse in families," reports the paper.
"State Indigenous Affairs Minister Michelle Roberts said the Halls Creek housing initiative had been developed in consultation with the local community, the shire and state government agencies."

Whoa nelly. I'd watch it with the generalizations. While it's true that not all Native American tribes were exactly pure as the driven snow a good many of them were and are STILL trying to heal from the atrocities they've suffered - namely alcohol and crack poisoning.
I don't know anything about Maori culture tho except that they were, in fact, considered to be fierce warriors.

Where in the HELL were the parents? Do they just let their 7 year old wander around by himself?! He probably did it because he is getting treated terribly at home and neglected. That doesn't mean that what he did was okay though. He should have to work at the zoo for a few years or do some other type of community service and the parents should be brought up on some sort of charges for neglect!

They do the same thing in NZ-Maori are so damned sacred, in touch with the earth. Whitey is to blame for all. Meanwhile, the Maori killed, ate, and enslaved the native population that existed when they came here and took slaves from the other islands too.
I don't think native americans and their casinos are any better.

Yup, serial killers start by killing animals at a young age. This kid's parents are going to have their hans full. This wasn't a case of harming just one animal, this kid has very serious issues.
I hate stories about animal abuse, if that was my kid I would've kicked the punk's ass from one end of Australia to the other then left him in the outback to deal with less defenseless animals.
AS others have noted, killing and torturing animals is the was many, many serial killers, child abusers and molesters and other psycopaths get started. This kid is in serious trouble if he is this vicious at 7!
My first thought is he is very likely abused or molested and this is his way of getting his anger and agression out since he can't get back at his abuser.

One of my all time fave movies (catch it if you're philosophical, AT ALL) Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring. There is a very similar situation and it's handled SO eloquently. Child Services would be on his Pepaw's ass but I thought it was quite appropriate - and remember I don't believe in corporal punishment.
A little morbid curiosity is really natural in all humans. That's why we have horror and thrillers and video games, of course. But this child is crying out for some serious attention. Something's wrong - his heart is broken.

I work with children and whenever I see children playing with or killing insects I make them stop. I always ask them if they would like it if someone poked them around with a stick. Usually the answer is NO. This child needs to be watched and needs therapy otherwise he will be another white boy who feel through the cracks and became a Serial Killer.
