That we should vote for Obama because he 1) has a brown face, 2)so we can just get that first black president out of the way,or 3)because he doesn't come from wealth. This sounds like reverse discrimination to me. Incidentally, his Grandmother was a banker. While that isn't WEALTHY, it is definitely upper middle class.

Quite frankly I am weary of this whole election cycle.

Of course there are folks who'll vote for Obama because he looks like them. What astounds me is that 1)people who throw that issue out there have no response to the pictures of practically nothing but white people at republican functions and 2)these same people assume that all blacks will vote for Obama because of his culture and not because they agree with his politics.

Once I had a conversation with this guy at my old company, we were talking about politics. He's white, I'm black but we're near the same age, same generation. You would think we agreed on some things and we did, but when he started talking about being an American taxpaying citizen and I agreed with him, he gave me a funny look and I realized he wasn't talking about me as a fellow American taxpaying citizen. I couldn't read his mind but I knew he wasn't considering my kind when it came to the idea of being "real" American citizens.

So for those people who shout "aw, they're only voting for him because he's black", what are you voting for McCain for? A continuation of this administration's "rob the country's coffers as much as possible" policies? Or is it because he will look out for people like you?

He had a long political history dating back over 20 years including being the Governor of Texas before he was elected as US President.

If you look at the things just on the surface - Bush was WAY more qualified in 2000 when he won the election.

Actually, Obama graduated at the top of his class, while Bush was a C student and a frat boy. Being the president of the Harvard Law Review is a HIGHLY coveted and respected position; not easy to attain by any means. Plus, there is the unavoidable rub that Bush's family was wealthy and were able to use their influence to get him into Ivy League schools, where Obama had to get in via brains and hard work.
