Travis Barker And DJ AM Critically Injured After Fatal Plane Crash
Travis Barker and DJ AM were critically injured after a small Learjet crashed during takeoff in Columbia, South Carolina. 3 men and 1 women were killed. Officials confirmed to NBC that two crew members and two passengers were killed. The names of the deceased have not been released.
Travis was taken by ambulance to a burn center in Augusta, GA. DJ AM was airlifted to the same burn center. They are both in critical condition.
Last night, Travis and DJ AM performed with Perry Farrell and Gavin DeGraw. It's not known if Perry or Gavin were on the same flight.
A spokesperson for the FAA said the Lear 60 was bound for Van Nuys, CA before midnight on Friday with six people on it. Air-traffic controllers reported seeing sparks. They said the plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.
Condolences to the family and friends of the those who lost their lives. Good thoughts to Travis and DJ AM and their families.
UPDATE: Perry Farrell's manager confirmed to MTV News that Perry was not on the plane.
UPDATE II: Gavin DeGraw's publicist confirmed to People that Gavin was not on the plane. MSNBC reports that the female pilot, Sarah Lemmon, and the male co-pilot, James Bland, died in the crash.
UPDATE III: - MSNBC confirmed that 29-year-old Chris Baker of Studio City, CA was one of the passengers who died in the crash. Chris, who is known as "Little Chris," was Travis' assistant. One male passenger still hasn't been identified.
UPDATE IV: A witness who was driving down the highway saw two men, presumably Travis and DJ AM, taking off their clothes and trying to extinguish themselves. The two men told the witness that four other people were on the plane.
UPDATE V: 25-year-old Charles Still of Riverside, CA has been identified as the fourth victim of the crash. Charles was Travis' bodyguard.
UPDATE VI: TMZ reports that DJ AM's face has been severely burned and is being treated right now. Travis is expected to survive, but was burned from the waist down. Chris Baker, Travis' assistant who died in the crash, was a newlywed and his wife recently had a baby.
UPDATE VII: The National Transportation Safety Board held a press conference and gave a few more details about the crash. They said the jet overran the runway, hit a few lights and an antenna, crashed through a fence and careened across the highway next to the airport. The jet crashed into an embankment where it caught on fire.

What a tragedy. My sympathy to the family of those killed, and best wishes to Travis and AM for a full recovery. Burn injuries are very painful, those two boys are in for a rough ride in the next several weeks.

Try listing them on Craigslist or Kijiji.com (eBay owns 25% of CL and 100% of Kijiji.com) sometimes you can get good sales by listing locally. :)

The warm water test is good. The one I use when out shopping IF I DON'T HAVE SIMICHROME with me --because yes I do generally carry it and a loupe in my purse - is the hard RUB TEST. IF you get a smell, you're good to go!

Get the hell out!!! The switch plate is awesome!! I just bid on it. And the cruet - salt and pepper shaker. For some reason I can never find and keep a cruet....i don't know what the hell the problem is! The last cruet I bought - a vintage 1930's set, the metal lid snapped off where it meets the glass. It was unuseable.
You could make a fortune on those switchplates.

For those in here who know about burns, how would the progression of things get them to critical condition?

Here is what i remember from last semester..
Burns=tissue damage. Can be cause by electricity, excessive heat, chemicals,etc. Burns affect homeostasis, that is your body gral balance ( homeostasis protects your body against microbial infection, etc)
there are 3levels of burn, by severity.
-1st degree: means your epidermis has been affected (top layer of your skin) example: sun burn. No blisters, and should heal in a couple days.
-2nd degree: destroys epidermis(top layer)and part of the next layer, the dermis.These two layer separate because of accumulation of fluid between the two.This resulting in scars sometimes. it should heal(if skin is not infected) a month.
-3rd degree: all 3 layers affected.skin transplant needed to improve healing and less scarring.
The systemic effects of a major burn are greater threat to life. This may include:
large loss of water, plasma-causing shock
decrease production of urine
bacterial infection
reduced circulation of blood
The seriousness of a burn is determined by its depth and extend.
"Major burn" injuries are any of the following:
3rd degree burn over 10% of body surface A
2nd degree burn on 25% of body surf. A
3rd degree burn on face, feet, hands, perineum.
when burn exceeds 70% +, half the victims die.
here is how you estimate the percent of the body:
-count 9% if front and back of head and neck are affected( if only front or back then you count 4.5)
-9% for each arm (4.5 if only on side of arm)
-36% for the trunk and buttocks( count half if only on one side)
-18% for each leg.
-1% perineum.
so you have 9 for head, 18 arms, 36 trunk,36 legs, 1 perineum=100%

Is it just me or has there been a large number or plane accidents this summer?
It seems like every week there's a crash, scares or holes being ripped into sides of planes. Either it's just an oddity or companies are getting sloppy. Which scares the crap out of me because I hate planes, never go on them but need to fly to Europe (because there isn't another option, unless you count boat but what is this the 1800s?). Land flights don't scare me as much but over ocean flights, just ugh, I am scared of planes.
And that crap about being safer than a car is crap. At least in a car your [semi] in control, you don't rely on someone else, whereas a plane you have mitigating factors.

that's not really true... in a plane you are not in control of driving, true. but when you are in a plane there is nothing around you to cause an accident. Unlike a car, where you have hundreds of other drivers around you whom you can't control and god knows what is on the ground that can blow out your tire or cause an accident. Planes can malfunction, yes, but so can't cars. the only reason plane crashes are so wildly reported is because they are so rare... think of the thousands of fatal car crashes that you neever hear about each year.
