But things aren't as black and white as members of the right and left paint them. For instance, I'd rather my taxes go to the education of the underpriviledged, than their support or incarceration.

Yes, absolutely...

This is the story of our Grandmothers and Great-grandmothers; they lived only 90 years ago.

Remember, it was not until 1920
that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.

The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed
nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking
for the vote.

And by the end of the night, they were barely alive.
Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden's blessing
went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of
'obstructing sidewalk traffic.'

They beat Lucy Burns, chained her hands to the cell bars above
her head and left her hanging (!) through the night, bleeding and gasping
for air.

They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her
head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate,
Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack.
Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging,
beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.

Thus unfolded the 'Night of Terror' on Nov. 15, 1917,
when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his
guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because
they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson's White House for the right
to vote.
For weeks, the women's only water came from an open pail. Their
food--all of it colorless slop--was infested with worms.

When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks
until word was smuggled out to the press.

YUP!! I totally agree. You don't go to a church that preaches hate for the white man "OUT LOUD" and expect it not to be an issue whe you run for "PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". We just have to chose the lesser of two evils. I would prefer a presidential ticket of Biden and MCcain. Yeah I'm crazy like that, haha.

While I agree that being associated with Rev. Wright's church has been a public relations nightmare for Obama, think of the context. I support Obama, not because I think he is the second coming, but because he has the best thought-out policies for improving America. I do not delude myself into thinking that anyone aspiring to higher office does not compromise him or herself to get votes. He joined that church because to black constituents in Chicago, he didn't seem black enough, (my theory). He is not the first person who attended a church in which he didn't believe everything that was presented.

Sarah Palin's, (and many other evangelicals'), church believes that Israel must be intact for Christ to come back for the rapture. Thousands of them support Israel, believing that Jews will not be saved with them. That is MAJOR foreign policy based on what?

Sarah Palin would be a LIABILITY to a decent candidate with real plans for restoring this country-domestically and internationally. But since Mccain's got NOTHING, he'd rather have her brand of divisive bullshit out there to divert from the fact that he has NO PLAN.
