John McCain was on "The View" this morning and turned the joint upside down. Although, that's not hard to do. John he wants the constitution interpreted the way that it was originally written. This didn't sit well with Whoopi and she responded: ""Should I be worried about being a slave, about being returned to slavery because certain things happened in the Constitution that you had to change?" If only Cindy McCain was sitting there at the time! She would've freaked out and ran for the nearest medicine cabinet.
That's what Barbara Walters should have done instead of opening her mouth and saying, "Us white folk will take care of you!" WTF?! Is Babs cutting her Metamucil with crack again?! She sounded like Miss Millie from "The Color Purple." Seriously, Babs needs to go to her room, lock the door, put a warm towel on her head and lay down for a real long time.
Even Sherri couldn't believe this fuckery! I think Hasselcrack probably went caca in her white silk panties. Joy seemed to be the only one enjoying this shit.

I appreciate your explanation. But when you say "only the most uneducated among us" - well, that's just posturing and rudeness. I'm pretty highly educated - in history, even - but I know hardly anything about politics. It's just not my area of interest. That's why I depend on our Leaders to speak clearly about their actions and beliefs, and to provide ample information about how these are decided upon - McCain did not.
That very simple explanation you posted would have helped me to understand the point he was trying to make. It still leaves me with questions, mind you, but that's neither here nor there. His inability to express his ideas clearly comes across as uneducated to ME. But I would never assume such a thing - just that we, obviously, don't process in the same way.
Also, this: sometimes interviewers will ask questions that are on the minds of the people watching...in a country full of people who are struggling, from birth, just to make ends meet, understanding politics and the law is just not that important on the daily - it becomes a waste of time. So, unfortunately, yes - a lot of people are under educated and may form the opinion "he's tryna make us slaves!" - Whoopi simply gave him an opportunity to say "No, I'm not". I don't believe he even did that. He said "I understand what you're saying". If he's shot down, he really shot himself down.

Appointing originalists to the courts who strictly interpret the Constitution only means that they will refrain from judical activism, NOT that the USA will revert back to the ways of when the Constitution was written. Judicial activism is essentially when the Supreme Court, an unelected entity, tries to (often successfully) legislate from the bench. Congress and the House make laws because they are directly accountable to the American people - the Supreme Court is not. Slavery is abolished in America due the legally ratified Thirteenth Amendment, so appointing judges who strictly interpret the Constitution (the way the founding fathers intended) and not try to dictate law based on their personal political beliefs would not mean that all blacks would return to being slaves. Only the most uneducated among us would ever assume such a silly idea. Hopefully Whoopi was just making a joke because she's never struck me as dumb before.
I find THE VIEW to be embarrassingly unwatchable.That being said...I think Whoopi was trying (unsuccessfully) to call McCain on a Reagan era "CODEWORD" strategy designed to appeal to the race consciousness of working & middle class Whites.
Among the ways it was done was to berate the "crime problem"...ridicule "affirmative action"...question the "patriotism" of those who have historical grievances with this great nation...label the drug HIV & failing schools problem as that of the "inner city"...AND appoint judges who have a "strict & original" interpretation of The Constitution.The "strict & original" interpretation of The Constitution suggests that Black people are not fully human...only three fifths so.(article one /section two)THAT is what Whoopi was stumbling to articulate.I lean center right on most issues...but stop short of identifying Republican because of that "strategy".Sadly I find the Democrats and their liberal wing to be EQUALLY DISGUSTING.The Democrats after all were the PARTY OF SLAVERY ...and to this day they skillfully play THE VICTIM CARD with Black voters to keep them lock-step voting for a party that plays class/sex/race warfare.Not to mention the punishment of the successful with "wealth re-distribution".(TAXES) I might add that if ever there were a reason for me to be contemptuous of
