John McCain was on "The View" this morning and turned the joint upside down. Although, that's not hard to do. John he wants the constitution interpreted the way that it was originally written. This didn't sit well with Whoopi and she responded: ""Should I be worried about being a slave, about being returned to slavery because certain things happened in the Constitution that you had to change?" If only Cindy McCain was sitting there at the time! She would've freaked out and ran for the nearest medicine cabinet.
That's what Barbara Walters should have done instead of opening her mouth and saying, "Us white folk will take care of you!" WTF?! Is Babs cutting her Metamucil with crack again?! She sounded like Miss Millie from "The Color Purple." Seriously, Babs needs to go to her room, lock the door, put a warm towel on her head and lay down for a real long time.
Even Sherri couldn't believe this fuckery! I think Hasselcrack probably went caca in her white silk panties. Joy seemed to be the only one enjoying this shit.
Its pretty ridiculous how our country is so close minded. McCain is not a bad man but he is not suitable for president, even less Palin. We have so many enemies now with Bush as president than we ever had and we are in war as well!! Why would we choose another president who will follow Bush's steps? We complain so much of our economy going bad and see how war has never been the answer yet some choose to vote for it. We say we are no longer a racist yet many people won't vote for a black president. I guess people outside the US have reason to laugh at us and find us to be morons... we are best at complaining but doing absolutely nothing about making a change. vivian yes black men received the right to vote as part of that amendment, but anyone who knows anything about American history, would know that black men or people couldn't actually vote with out the possibility of getting lynched or physically/mentally harassed until after Jim Crow laws were eradicated. The 15th amendment was a national law that almost no one abide by until the late 1960's. You get your facts straight.

Okay, look, these ladies are just not following McCain here, and whether you are dem or rep, surely you see that. He isn't saying the bare-bones constitution is the end all be all. He thinks state legislatures should have the power to enact abortion laws as they see fit. What he is disagreeing with here, are supreme court cases where the justices decide to legislate from the bench. You see, these cases set a precedent, and therefore are like law...but justices shouldn't use their power to usurp power that should belong to the legislature. This is what McCain is against. He isn't trying to f'ing outlaw abortion or bring back slavery (whoopi, you are a sensationalist on that one). He just thinks that such power shouldn't be used by justices to set precedent, but rather by the legislature.

Even the strict constitutionalists (e.g. Scalia) have been known to engage in a little judicial activism in their time. I'm thinking Hamdi v. Rumsfeld. So all the "strict constitutionalists" he wants to appoint will have no problem throwing their anti-judicial-activism cloak out the window when they're handed a really juicy case... and will invariably take as far-right a position on it as possible.
It is sad! You can't be mean to a confused old man... I think he reminds everyone of their befuddled old grandpa. Okay to spend a Sunday with, but not someone who should be entrusted with the country's welfare.
I hope he starts looking SCARY old ASAP so the people saying, "Palin's just running for VP, no big deal" will get to see exactly what type of physical specimen standing between her and the Presidency. Most of the Supreme Court justices aren't looking too healthy these days either, they need to show those hot bitches more often. I'm pretty highly educated - in history, even - but I know hardly anything about politics. It's just not my area of interest. That's why I depend on our Leaders to speak clearly about their actions and beliefs, and to provide ample information about how these are decided upon - McCain did not.

What I meant (but didn't communicate very well) is that McCain was trying to say that he wanted to appoint people who interpret the Constitution, and that thinking anything else is just grabbing for straws. Upon watching the video again, I see your point that maybe people who aren't political history junkies like myself could have seen something different. McCain did not do a good job of explaining himself.
Pro Life sentiments are not really tied to an unselfish respect for human life, but are born of unacknowledged, genetic survival instincts. Of course, most pro lifers or rather anti-woman adherents do not believe in evolution let alone understand the power of our evolutionary programming. In other words, they do not care to understand themselves. They view everything from Biblical goggles failing to see, as well, that their moral laws are in fact, codifications, as well as often perversions, of those basic human impulses.
We need an intellectual in the White House, someone who will take a pragmatic approach in helping us to adapt our ancient intincts to modern life, and who will protect, above all, the rights of the individual from the tyranny of religious moralists.
