So Long, Tiny Dancer!
Not Tiny Dancer!!!! If this isn't a "put the covers over my head" moment, I don't know what is! Over a year ago, I wrote about the 4-inch tall chihuahua from Florida. At the time, Tiny Dancer was in the running to be named the world's smallest dog by Guinness Book of World Records. He spent most of his young life helping others as a therapy dog.
Well, he shuffled off to heaven yesterday! Why is the world so cruel? He was only 2 years old. That's like 21 in dog years according to the Dog Years Calculator. His owner, Jenny Gomes, left this message on Tiny Dancer's Dogster profile:
I have lost the love of my life...my Tiny Dancer! He gave me so much to look forward to and he enriched so many lives with his Therapy Dog work! God why did you take him from me so soon...I still need him so much! My heart is breaking into little pieces and I can't stop crying! I know it will get better...I don't want it to...I want my baby back! I feel like I can't breath...It's really hard to see thru the tears...I know I have lots of other animals that need me...but...I need my little man back!Sorry for going on and on...but, I have no other outlet other than here! God...Please take care of my Tiny Dancer...I will see you again one day...I love you soooooo much!
Hold me closer Tiny Dancer! I'm sure he's up in heaven, dancing for all of us! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to add another shot of Bailey's to my coffee this morning.

I'm a big dog person, too--big dogs are the best! It's true, you can cuddle with them and they'll even let you use them as a pillow. You can wrestle them, which is always fun and good for a laugh. I love big, drooly, goofy dogs!

Good morning, sluts. Even though this is a sad news day, because we have lost such an... um... important figure in the world. He was a cutie though.
I own an Airedale terrier (65 lbs) but he thinks he's Tiny Dancer. He climbs his fat ass into my fat lap and we snuggle. It's fun times. I miss him lots now!! :(

Small dogs need love too! My Boston is a whopping 19 pounds but he thinks he's a big dog. He never barks and is always happy and dancing around.

I used to hate little dogs too but then my parents got a couple of Yorkies and I am a total convert. they are such sweeties and they think they are the biggest dogs on the block.

I dislike tiny, shivering, yapping, nervous-appearing dogs, and this poor thing is better off where he is. The overbreeding for specific attributes is nasty beyond words. My neighbor has four tiny dogs who do nothing but yap in a shrill tone that gets on my last fucking nerve.

I agree with all the posters who say that there are too many overbred dogs, and how it contributes to unnecessary health problems and shorter lives. Let's put an end to this nonsense; everyone should get mutts as pets instead of over-priced, unhealthy designer dogs.

Yes, these tiny dogs are so fragile and most don't live beyond 4 years. Their bones break easily and their organs are probably weak, too. People should quit making them like that.
My dog is the same color as him, but maybe darker in some areas. His name is Rusty and he is HUGE. He would probably have broken that dog just by licking it.
I tend not to like those small annoying dogs, however I feel her pain, I know how sad it can be when you loose one of your pets :(

I was really wondering about the pet therapy thing-I suppose because I work in the health care field already...I really can see where it would be helpful. Most of the people we work with are elderly and have multiple medical problems, and when you are suffering like that, you are bound to become depressed. I know I would be.
I'd love to try to get our dog trained, he's from the pound, and they tell me he's still a puppy (8 months old).

Poor little guy, but ITA about the overbreeding. It messes with the natural evolution of the animal and allows recessive genes to dominate (or something like that). Mutt dogs are the way to go, they are healthier and usually need homes more.

Totally agreed about the over-breeding comments - SO sad! With that slutty new Disney Chihuahua movie coming out, I won't be surprised to hear more and more about over-bred/abandoned doggies. My sister just lost her Belgian Shepherd at 2 years old. It was too expensive and far away to autopsy.
