Best Casting Ever!
File this under: The best casting decision since Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates! Christopher Nolan reportedly wants Cher to play Catwoman in the third Batman movie. The world could always use more Cher, so this makes complete sense.
According to the Telegraph, shooting begins when hell freezes over in Vancouver early next year and Johnny Depp has already been lined up to play The Riddler.
Some source who has obviously been sniffing too much paint said, "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years. The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."
I can already picture Cher sashaying up to Batman and saying, "Meeeeoooow. How's it going Batman? Ooooh Schonny Bono! Woo!" I also think Nolan should dump Depp and cast Elton John as The Riddler. That way the third Batman movie can be one big gay musical.

Nolan hasn't even spoken about a third film (he isn't even signed up for one!) and the article already says Johnny Depp is contracted for the Riddler? Give me a break. hated the batman's voice, the batman begins voice was still acceptable and doable, but in TDK they took it to a whole new level, the annoying one, yet after thinking about Cher being possibly cast as the catwoman it would be interesting to see which voice will annoy us the most. I love Cher and all but..it's trannyland when it comes to the voice.
No one's getting an Oscar for TDK, not even a Nod, maybe for Custome Design or other Technical Nods, like Editing (which was pretty good), sound editing, make up, visual effects, but actor (lead or supportive) not going to happen, and even though the direction of the film was excellent, i don't see it happening.
anywhore, Maggie G. oh my God what a waste of celluloid time!, and also that script was fucked on lies! the joker saying "you're beautiful" or whatever the fuck, just completely ruined. And i also thought not even a coffee table could ruin the Rachel Dawes role and that Katie Holmes portrayal of it was completely irrelevant, but i was wrong. The Rachel Dawes role is completely irrelevant and Maggie G. proved it, cause she absolutely ruined it, and ruining a role not even K.H. ruined at her moment..that's a lot to say.
that being said Heath Ledger did a fantastic role, even if it bugs the hell out of some people, some things have to be admitted, but one thing is to OWN a role and the other is to be throw it out of proportion, now i won't make the mistake some have made, comparing Jack Nicholson's Joker with Ledger's, mostly because they were 2 absolutely different sides of the villein, and both wonderfully performed by each, they both achieved what the joker was intended to achieve at the moment, in the directors perspective.
Overrated? I certainly don't think so, and part of that is that it was completely unexpected. I almost cried the day that it was announce that Sean Penn was out of the negotiations for the role of the Joker and that Ledger was the chosen one, the only reason why my car didn't go off the road was because I had a friend aboard and had to pick up my mom later, but damn it, I drowned my sorrows in wine that night, so seeing the final product, being completely predisposed, because I never liked H.L., NEVER, and in his death I only felt bad because of his little daughter, so I can now say that I'm being objective when I affirm he did a GREAT JOB.
and whatever the hell C.N. decides to do with the next one, i am sure as hell I'll be seeing it.
just lay-off the over-the-top batman voice.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss! They should cast Cher, of course Angelina is sexy and hot and can play a bad girl, but she does it in every movie. I think Cher could bring something unique.
If angelina gets the role it is just more proof that she is being type cast. Tarantino's and brad's last movies bombed, so tarantino shouldn't count on brad to provide a major hit.

It is nice to know that not everyone in hollywood thinks angelina is hot shit and wouldn't it be fun to see angelina's reaction once she found out that a role she really wanted was given to a real icon and diva in the entertainment business. Cher as catwoman may entice a new fan base with the older generation, so it may not be such a bad idea. I saw cher on entertainment tonight a few days ago and she looked good, the costumes she was showing that are used during her tour are fabulous. Cher can act, she was entertaining in "Mask", it is my favorite cher movie. Finally, Cher's sense of style might add something new to the catwoman costume.

Be careful there! NO ONE has yet been officially signed to play the catwoman... and the way the media and Hollywood is bowing down to Brad and Angelina (I'll never figure why)... we cant be sure if they'll eventually cast her or not !! I have a feeling she might end up getting the part after all... which is VERY unfortunate but hey... they're in demand now... so that's what matters i guess!

Cher was considered before by Tim Burton but he gave the role to Michelle Phieffer. The aging villainess angle is intriguing, but if they are going for that then they should give the role to the one and only real Catwoman: Ms. Julie Newmar. She still looks great for her age.
And if Catwoman is aging, then Batman will need to be older too...after all they are contemporaries... It doesn't make sense to have a young Batman with a much older Catwoman.
The story could be a look into the latter years of Batman and his nemesis.

Cher as Catwoman is an interesting choice. I think a lot of folks forget she's won an Academy Award. AND she was in one of my old favorites, Mermaids. She's a good actress, and Nolan's aging villainess angle sounds like it could be interesting.

Oh, and I didn't think that it was possible to fuck up a replacement of Katie Cruise. A coffee table would have put in a more convincing performance, but for some reason they went for Maggie Gyllenhall.

withmyownmoneycough* after all that world wide hype it was getting, after ten minutes or so into the movie I got so bored I skipped right at the end and even then the ending was shit. I did the same with Batman Begins.
As for the characters, Heath no way no how deserves an Oscar but they might nominate him just so the academy awards can get onto the publicity bandwagon like the Dark Night did with Heath's death and get some much needed ratings boost. I know the new Batman movies were suppose to be much more 'realistic' but even then Heath seemed to try and copy Jack Nicholson and failed miserably.
As for Christian Bale, were do I begin, his stupid voice or his limited facial expressions that barely showed any emotion that was required. BLAH, whatever that movie sucked big time and everyone knows it.
