R.I.P. Sho’nuff
NOOO!!! Julius J.Carry III, who played Sho'nuff in "The Last Dragon," has passed away at the age of 56. Julius died of complications from pancreatic cancer on Tuesday in his Studio City, CA home.
Julius has nearly 60 TV and film credits to his name, but his role as The Shogun of Harlem is what he became most famous for.
He is survived by his wife, mother and brother.
Rest in peace, Julius. You'll always be the baddest mofo low down around this town!
I'm 38 and me and my friends watched The Last Dragon all the time as kids. The funny thing is, just last year I was getting my 6th graders into class after coming from lunch and a student called for another kid ..."Leee Royyyy" I had a flashback and I said as a joke "Who's the Masta"....Another student said "Sho' Nuf" I was shocked! It turned out he said he just saw the movie on VH1. I DVR'd it that night and watched it again!! Too Funny!!! R.I.P. Sho'Nuf! You were the man!
Have you noticed that this is the fourth famous Bro. God has called home in the last week?! Isaac Hayes, Bernie Mac, another musician I'm so sorry I don't recall, and now this poor man----and sooooo young. What is a going on?
This guy made the movie "The Last Dragon"--He was funny as hell (hope I got that name right)----If ya havn't seen it you should----It's also before Vanity put her fake little boobies away and whipped out the Bible. She's still weird on or off coke.
Both this and the jaw-dropping "Never Too Young To Die" where childhood obsession for me.
That is seriously sad. My boyfriend and I were just quoting him two days ago!
I remember seeing this on a Saturday afternoon on the local St. Louis channel in like 1980-something. It's a classic for sure and he's the only memorable part of the movie.
RIP Sho'Nuff. You are the baddest in the land.

i worked on this film. he was so funny! he walked around in character, deadpan and evil...and scared the hell out of me. it was awesome! i have a pic somewhere where he literally "swept me off my feet" --- it was used for a "fun" in-house still.
so very sad.
