Actually Stoney, I am an attorney.

If I'm wrong, show me the law. But as a multiracial attorney who is black, white, middle eastern and native american, I can assure you there is no such law. Mixed people have different experiences that create identities. I know a man mixed like Obama who has never known a black family member in his life who completely identifies as black. It's about the way the world sees you that helps define you. It's hard to explain unless you're black or mixed with black.

It's so ironic that for so many years we were called black even if we were mainly white and forced to live as second-class citizens and now Obama isn't "black enough".

Senator Obama is multiracial and can claim whatever he wants to be. For over 400 years we've had the "one-drop rule" in the U.S. where you were black if you had ANY African ancestors.

More importantly, race is a social construct that only exists in the mind. However, institutionalized racism is very real.

Regardless of sleeping with a man who is seperated from his wife (we don't know the whole story, this could be some Grey's Anatomy type situation), this is just wrong.

Wait until the married individual's issues have been dealt with (divorce is completed, etc.) before you become involved. There is always the chance could get back together. Also, if you become involved with someone who is separated, it can be difficult to tell if you are the cause of the separation or just an happenstance after. It's best to let that person deal with those issues because their issues become yours.

The "other" person doesn't have any obligation to the spouse or children but there is the issue of respect. More importantly, there is also the simple phrase of "what goes around, comes around."
