Standing Tall
24-year-old Angel Pantoja Medina of Puerto Rico apparently told his family that when he passes away, he wants to stand upright through his wake. Well, his family granted his wish. Dressed in a Yankees cap, sunglasses and a gold chain, Angel was mourned by family members while standing tall in his mother's living room for 3 days.
The funeral home told The Associated Press that they used a special embalming treatment to keep him standing. His brother said, "He wanted to be happy, standing."
The police are currently investigating Angel's death. His body was found underneath a bridge last Friday.
I guess it's not that strange. I mean, I want half of my ashes stuffed into one of Shauna Sand's exquisite lucite heels. I want the other half scattered along Robertson Blvd. That way I will always be with international supermodel Phoebe Price. Oh and save a line of my ashes for Amy Wino. I want her to snort me up, Keith Richards-style.
Okay, I take it back. After going through these pictures, I need someone to hold my hand and feed me a Twinkie. I'm a little uncomfortable

How is it that this ghetto trash lowlife type always has the time and money to get t-shirts made up to wear to the funeral with pictures or airbrushing of the dead person on it. Such classiness! I see it all the time on the Philly news when inner city types are killed, everyone has a t-shirt with their picture and name airbrushed all over it. GHETTO!
In my neck of the woods, you get buried in a suit and you wear a suit or dress to a funeral, or your "Sunday best". If that's the best clothes he has or the other people have, then what must the rest of their wardrobe look like. Oh well, one less piece of trash in the world.

As for yioooo, I do not know where you heard he was kidnapped and shot three times. The Puerto Rican papers say he was basically a drug dealer who was shot 11 times in Santurce. Nothing to be proud of here. Not a thing and since he has been like 12 he has been telling people that when he died he wanted to be viewed standing up. I think it's a Maine thing too. I've seen lots of people take photos, especially if the mortician was able to make them look a lot like they did in life. Meanwhile the whole embalming, then into a casket into a vault and into the ground - what a waste of resources, land and good compost! Although, I do love to look at old headstones.

At least he's embalmed... my husband likes to tell the story of his child-molester Jehovah's Witness cousin's funeral (he is since estranged from that rednecky branch of the family, thank god!) Apparently they don't believe in embalming(?) and the guy died in July. He probably weighed upwards of 350 pounds, and it was 6 days before they finally had the funeral... he said you could smell it from outside the church when the casket was closed. When the family got inside, the funeral director opened the coffin so they could pay their last respects, and about half of them threw up or had to leave the room, the stench was so awful. He said it was absolute torture sitting in that hot little church for the 10-minute ceremony and they had to replace most of the original pallbearers.
What I want to know is why would ANYONE want THAT to be the last memory people have of them?
