Tommy Girl Is In A Hit Movie!
Everybody! Raise a bottle of poppers to celebrate Tommy Girl's victory at the box office! Okay, homegirl really isn't the star of "Tropic Thunder," but that doesn't matter! He still has a hit movie! You know he's celebrating by treating himself to a little ride on L. Ron Hubbard's frozen dick. He rides it until he sees stars....and planets....and his alien people.
"Tropic Thunder" kicked "The Dark Knight" off of the top perch where it's been sitting for the past four weeks. Even though TDK fell to the #2 spot with $16.8 million for the weekend, it has become the second highest-grossing movie in the history of forever. With a total gross of $471 million, TDK ranks second behind "Titanic" which has $601 million in its wallet. Don't let go, Jack! Batman is coming for you.
Here's how the weekend box office looked:
1. Tropic Thunder - $26 million
2. The Dark Knight - $16. 8 million
3. Star Wars: The Clone Wars - $15.5 million
4. Mirrors - $11.1 million
5. Pineapple Express - $10 million
Unfortunately, I was too busy hacking up sperm balls this weekend, so I didn't get out to see any of this shit. Everyone keeps telling me that Tommy Girl brings the laughs in Tropic Thunder. Even if I tried, I could never laugh WITH Tommy Girl. It's just not possible. The minute I laugh with him is the moment the aliens have won!

AMEN. I have a strict no Jack Black policy. High Fidelity is an exception, but I refuse to see any movie with Jack Black in it.

It's computer animated. It is aimed at kids- toys are already in McDonald's Happy Meals. Hubby took the boys to see it last night and although the plot was a little twisty for younger kids, everyone was entertained.
I didn't even know Tommy was in this - how small is his role, err roll?

Great movie! I don't usually go to see comedy movies at the movies cuz they're so darn expensive (10.50? Gimme a break!) But Tropic Thunder was well worth it. I think Robert Downey's character really made it hysterical, Tom Cruise was just ok, but still more funny then anything else he's ever been in. And the previews with that movie where Brad Pitt is an eccentric Fitness Trainer, he looked hysterical too.
Ugh, I am turning towards the darkside...lol
I think Jack Black is one of the least funny "comedic talents" currently making movies. I hate to say it, but I'd rather go on a date with Dane Cook than watch Black try to be funny. And by date, I mean have him grab at my boobs all night while making vagina jokes. That says a lot about how UNFUNNY I find Black to be.
I saw the movie yesterday. It is funny, but when TG appears on screen....I don't know I can still the crazy in his eyes. And the big hands and hairiness of his character, make me think that is him in real real real life. Like he is playing himself. And i couldn't laugh at him or with him. But the whole movie is just f#ck%ng hilarious.
