Billy Bob Thornton As Freddy Krueger?!
One...two....Billy Bob's coming for you. No. That doesn't have a nice ring to it. Michael Bay is currently working on butchering the classic "Nightmare on Elm Street," and apparently he's signed Billy Bob Thornton to play Freddy Krueger. Billy Bob would make a better Crypt Keeper instead.
What is wrong with Robert Englund? You can't make a "Nightmare" movie without Robert. He IS fucking Freddy. You basically just need him and Heather Langenkamp! Those bitches aren't doing anything. Although, I would rather Heather reprise her role as Marie in the TV remake of "Just the Ten of Us." But that's just me.
I mean, Billy Bob?! I guess he sort of makes sense since his face makes kids eat their own hair, but he's no Robert Englund!

ITA. the remake of The Shining sucked ass. Some characters are just indispensible, Jack Torrance needed to be played by Jack Nicholson, and Pennywise needed to be done by Tim Curry. No other actors will bring to the characters what they did.

Who has seen South Park's Imagination Land trilogy? The best impression of Michael Bay is in that trilogy, when they are trying to find a way to save imaginationland from the terrorists. They bring in Bay for ideas and he's all like, "First we should have this big chase scene and a huge explosion like 'Pwaaaaahhhh!' And then the buildings can explode like 'bwassshhhhhh!" And so on and so forth.

You know? It's lazy, really. It's the industry being COMPLETELY overrun by business men - they use artists to make things happen but they're not too fond of their input in the creative process, strangely enough.
And then this other thing I notice, being a parent. Whenever I see a kids show they always include some ol has-been from the 80s or 90s and so now my kid knows a whole bunch of stories and songs that I knew as a kid. It's actually kinda cool. Sometimes she likes these really awful remakes and then I show her the real one and she's blown away but it can be hard to attract her to that stuff if she doesn't have something current that catches her eye, naturally.
Just to say something nice today, I guess...
