R.I.P. Isaac Hayes
Soul legend Isaac Hayes died today at the age of 65. He would have turned 66 in 10 days.
Isaac's wife found him unconscious next to the treadmill inside of their Memphis home this morning. When paramedics arrived, they tried to revive him and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 2 this afternoon. No foul play is suspected, but a cause of death has not yet been announced.
Isaac has won several Grammys. He also won an Oscar for the theme song to "Shaft." Isaac was the voice for Chef on "South Park" from 1997 to 2006. Isaac Hayes, who was a Scientologist, left the show because of an episode which made fun of Scientology.
Ugh! Bernie Mac yesterday and now Isaac Hayes today?! Bernie and Isaac did a movie together called "Soul Men" which comes out later this year. Samuel L. Jackson is also in that movie. Get Samuel to the safe house!

I'm sure this is the last place anyone's family looks for condolances so I'll save it but for the record I'm not completely heartless. That said, with ALL DUE respect, Isaac Hayes was a hypocrite who was not only engaged in the wholesale SCAM known as scientology, but also participated in the most successful humiliation of it to date, which he later condemned. I wouldn't be surprized if the HBICs at Scientology headquarters were responsible for his death and I'll leave it there....

I am in agreement and I have saying been saying this since the very beginning of the year. Terrible things have been happening to us and our family, as well as other friends and their families. Then the flood hit our area. I was diagnosed with cancer in my eye the same day that Patrick Swayze announced he had pancreatic cancer. I had a bad pap smear and lots of biopsies. Randy Pausch died, too. Too much to list, but 2008 has been a real CRAP year.
