Hot Slut Of The Day!

Louise Robey - Star of the horror TV show "Friday the 13th: The Series," which ran from 1987-1990. In the mid-80s she recorded an album as "Robey."

Below is the video for her cover of "One Night in Bangkok." This video is fucking amazing. They don't make them like this anymore.

Robey sang back-up for Murray Head in the original. She also ended up marrying some British count or duke or something in the late 90s or early 2000s so she became a Duchess or something like that. They ended up divorcing but had a baby.

it all used to be on her website www.louiserobey.com, which, sadly, was hacked and now consists solely of the home page. All that valuable Robey information... gone... just like that... *sigh*

Hot Slut of The Century!

They talk about soap starlets' characters having wild misadventures. They've got nothing on her. During the show's run she killed multiple people in self-defense, had the hots for her cousin, dated a famous actor who killed to stay young, became a razor-wielding serial killer, developed powers of witchery, was nearly lobotomized, was murdered and resurrected, fought pirates (!), was stalked by a killer scarecrow, and was nearly date-raped by Satan! That's everything I ever wanted out of life.

She also married into royalty in real life.

The 80's were fun. A good time was had by all.

And they don't make videos like this anymore.
The cheese factor was high in the 80's, but in a good way.

That's an example of the maxim that you shouldn't cover anything unless you improve it. The original was way better; her version basically copied the original by Murray Head:

Thank you, Socky!

I thought that I'd remembered that as way better...but that happens a lot when I look back at things I loved when I was young.

I LOVE CHESS! Why does it seem like there used to be a lot of Chess in videos?

Hola Monquita! Heck, MTV started in like 1981? They were pioneers and didn't have much to work with.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I guess smoke machines covered a lot of wires running everywhere. They also used a lot of water scenes...pools, beaches, rain puddles, etc. Music was good though. I like watching them on youtube.
Hey CTH!
I wasn't a Madonna wannabe, but I had big hair, jeans so tight, I had to lay down to zip them up, and nails Carmella Soprano would envy.
The 80's! At least I was a teen, and could blame my shitty taste on that...
I miss my white fringed boots, my fingerless gloves, my cockatoo hair, my many zippered jean jacket.
hahahaha. What an image....
Sheeps. most covers are not an improvement, IMO.....yeah, there some, but most songs should be left alone as the original...
I too watched that show. I remember reading that she had a little "farm" where she roamed the place naked. Sounds like she would get a lot of bug bites.
followthisbeat75's picture
wow....that really was fucking amazing!! Obviously she was a genious before her time, I cant think of any other reason for that not being a huge hit!
Global Deejays covers this song.. it's fucking great
Believe it or not I remember when this hot mess actually charted on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1985. Although wayyyy down at the bottom end. It also got some urban radio airplay at the time, which gives lie to the meme that old R&B was better than the current stuff.
By the way, this video got some press at the time for the fact that it was shot by a Penthouse photographer. Odd since it is not even remotely sexy. Wheezy should have demanded a refund.
Grace Disful's picture
She doesn't come across in the video as a chess aficionado. She should've picked a different song, but I'm guessing she chose this one because it doesn't involve a lot of actual singing.
I'm very superficial, I hate everything official.
Brilliant.
If anyone needed a reason to get out of bed this morning...
here it is!
This will replace PP's "I kissed my ..." as my ringtone.
Ah, the lyrics...
"One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble"
I think the A*Teens covered this, too.
Now, that's music!
Hmm. So that's what rap was like when I was born. Good thing I can't remember anything before 1990.
