Louise Robey - Star of the horror TV show "Friday the 13th: The Series," which ran from 1987-1990. In the mid-80s she recorded an album as "Robey."
Below is the video for her cover of "One Night in Bangkok." This video is fucking amazing. They don't make them like this anymore.

I'd like to correct some bad info in other posts: Fri 13th The Series was on for three full seasons, it was not canceled after one season.
I've been waiting for people to catch up and remember Robey. I have all her old sh*t on vinyl! Even though she can barely sing, the album is great-- so funny. Esp when she raps.

I am going to look up the show online to see if it will jog my memory. I used to enjoy watching "Tales From the Darkside" & "Tales from the Crypt" back in the day. I know that the Sci-Fi channel airs Tales... during the week.

Hi Sayonara. I will check it out. You should check the series, it was cancelled after one season but it was great, IMHO. It had Gary Cole as an evil sheriff raping, killing, maiming and trying to get a child (Lucas Black) under his control. It had I guess a big cult following, but not enough for CBS to keep it, it is now playing on Chiller.

I don't remember "American Gothic" the TV series, but I saw the movie. It starred Yvonne De Carlo, and her and the husband lived a life of simplicity with their children. After awhile you will notice that they are not "normal", and it is on and popping from there. You have to check it out if you can find a copy. It came out in the late 80's I believe.

I watched the show every week back in the late 80's. Many of the episodes were not that scary to me. I preferred the show "Freddy's Nightmares" because that gave me a bit of a scare.

Strange song to do a cover on, but oh well. Couldn't make it through the whole video; got annoying after awhile.

The series is hitting DVD this next month. It was hated by all those lame-ass parental Media Watchdog groups and scared the hell out of many and '80s kid who either cajoled their parents into letting them watch it or just plain snuck down the stairs after they went to bed.

I got a hard on everytime I saw her on that show. She ran around a farm naked??? Damn I missed it. They say she also appeared nude in some film... anyone see it???
I used to love this show when I was younger! I have been watching the reruns on the Chiller Channel.
The only episode of that show is the one with Vanity. That was one of her last gigs before she found Jesus and lost her sex appeal.
There was absolutely no reason to re-make that song, especially since she sang it in pretty much exactly the same style as the original.
Why does she mention playing chess a dozen times during the song and what has that have to do with one night in Bangkok?
Is this something that should rattle my brain....sadly no but it beats all that book stuff that I've been studying!

I remember watching Friday the 13th every week when it was on. I really liked Robey on the show, but as a singer, I'm not so sure. Why in the hell would she remake such a sucky song?

Thanks for the info. I was too lazy to look up when the musical came out versus the rest of the releases of this song! My hubby and I just saw Radiohead on Monday- my brain has been temporarily cleansed of the "pop bimbo". Now if MK posts about Brit, Xtina, Chestica, Trannycats or even Panatroll later today, I'll have to sit in the corner and rock myself back into a Zen state. Most of what's played on the radio can neither be said to have come from artists or even musicians. It's like lame ass television stars who feel like singing. Ewwww.

LOL. I used to watch that show. It was her and Ryan and the bearded guy, I think and they inherited some curio shop or something and they had to collect all the posessed items. Oh and I have One Night in Bangkok on my iPod (blushes).
