The Enquirer Was Right!
Some political bitch who goes by the name of John Edwards admitted that he lied about cheating on his wife with a former campaign staffer. The National Enquirer broke the story last October. See! They get shit right, sometimes! Okay, just this once.
When the story came out, John said it was all lies. He denied the story over and over again.
In an interview which airs tonight on ABC's "Dateline," John admits to boning Rielle Hunter. He said he never loved her. I see what he's doing there. Since he doesn't love her, it's not really considered cheating. It's just two genitals dancing together. Totally platonic.
John also said he told Rielle that his wife's cancer was in remission before they did secret sexy times together.
Rielle claims John is the father of her baby, born in February of this year. John denies it and said the timing just doesn't add up. Somebody tell Maury to wait in the wings! We might need him in a bit.
John denied ever paying Rielle to keep her mouth shut, but he did say it's possible some of his friends did without his knowledge. That's just fucking laughable! That's like me saying, "I didn't smoke weed tonight, but it's possible that my friends put the bong in my mouth while I was sleeping."

Re the fertility drug/cancer link: it probably has nothing to do with Elizabeth's cancer.
While I'm not a doctor, I know more about these issues than the typical layperson. (I'll let you guess why.) The drugs that make a woman hyperovulate (i.e. produce a lot of eggs for IVF) have been tentatively linked to an increased risk for ovarian cancer, not breast cancer. Furthermore, it is extremely unlikely that Elizabeth Edwards used such drugs, called gonadotropins. Although Elizabeth did not say in her autobiography exactly how her last two kids were conceived (maybe she's waiting until they are old enough to understand), it is overwhelmingly likely due to her age that she bought donor eggs and a clinic made embryos with John's sperm. To be the recipient of an embryo, all you have to do is prepare the uterus by taking modest amounts of progesterone and perhaps some other drugs, for a short period of time. It's the egg donor who goes through the tough part and assumes the long-term health risks of fertility treatment. But hey, she gets $10,000 or more out of it, and that's a lot of tuition money!
a friend told me that her doctor said that while she had beat brest cancer, it would come back. its not WHETHER, its WHEN. I did not know that prior to that conversation.

Elizabeth Edwards had two more children late in life to make up somehow for the son they lost in an accident. I think she had to go on hormone therapy or whatever, and that made her gain weight.
I would love to know if the hormone therapy or drugs or whatever contributed to her cancer. Either way, she looks more worn and old in this picture than she usually does.

I'm probably putting myself on a roasting spit for saying this, but...couldn't Elizabeth's cancer actually be a mitigating factor in this affair? She's sick, maybe she can't have sexual relations any more, so John goes to fulfill his needs elsewhere. Is it reasonable to expect a healthy person in the prime of life to remain celibate for years on end? Would you think better of John Edwards if he had divorced his sick wife and then found a girlfriend? At least he wouldn't have been an adulterer that way, right?
In my opinion, what's most worthy of criticism – or at least a "told-ya-so" -- is John and Rielle's mutual failure to use birth control. (If the baby's not yours, take a DNA test and prove it, John.) Even so, smart people make mistakes, and they couldn't reasonably have expected that Rielle would conceive naturally at age 43. Unless crazy Rielle was taking fertility drugs...? Get the Enquirer on that angle! (For her part, Elizabeth must have used donor eggs to have her last 2 kids; she's admitted to using assisted reproduction, and no clinic in the world would accept as a patient a 48-year-old woman who wanted to use her own eggs -- she'd drag down their success rate.)
P.S. The Enquirer also broke the Rush Limbaugh drug addiction story, which turned out to be extremely true.
