After The Brawl
Nikki Blonsky and Bianca from "America's Next Top Model" were arrested last week for their part in a brawl that took place at an airport in Turks & Caicos. Nikki's dad is still in jail for allegedly beating down Bianca's mom, Elaine Golden. Elaine is still in the intensive care unit of a Miami hospital recovering from a broken nose and cracked skull.
Bianca's family told The New York Post their side of the story. They said it all started when Bianca's family asked the Blonsky family to move some of their luggage off of an airport chair, so that one of them could sit. The Blonsky family moved their shit, so that the the woman holding a child could sit, but they weren't happy about it. The Blonksly family reportedly started talking a lot of shit and even threw in the N-word a few times. Did Nikki not learn anything from "Hairspray"? Another source claims Bianca's family started the racial shit when one of them said, "I don't want to sit next to any white bitch."
The arguing became physical when Bianca and Nikki started exchanging words. Bianca's family member said the two chicks never fought each other, but Nikki did try and rip off Bianca's earring. She was hungry! After that, they all started brawling. You can't stop the beat down!
Unfortunately, there isn't any video of the battle itself. Yet. But someone did post a video on YouTube of the aftermath. The woman narrating the video needs her own show! In case you can't watch the video, here's a few of the narrator's amazing quotes:
"This young lady here with the green shirt, she done decked a girl out - Tracy Turnblad. Poor girl over there devastated, she ain't dancing around today."
"Is that my airplane?! Is that my flight? Cause I gotta go!!!"
At one point during the video, Nikki's loud mouth mom comes around blabbering about something or another. Who cares about her! Rude! She's interrupting this lady's amazing commentary.

I am white, and attended a mostly black high school. I had friends of all different races, and I never encountered any type of racism until the big ping pong tournament. tee hee
I ranked second in the school, and this one chick didn't like it. She told me that I cheated because I had a fast serve. She then went on to tell me that I hit it like that because she was black and that I was a racist. We got into a huge fight, and she DID call me a white bitch. So I called her a black bitch, and she came after me. We had a throwdown right there.
Well, the asst. principal came in and broke it up, and took ME to the office because pingpongloser said I was a racist and started the whole thing. I was actually going to be suspended from school (this is my senior yr., mind you), for the rest of the year. When my mom got wind of what happened, she asked me if the other girl got suspended too. I said no, she didn't. The reason? The 'white' asst. principal was too scared to call the 'black' mom and tell her that her daughter was going to be suspended, because then the faculty would have to deal with the reprecussions (accused of being racist).
My mom didn't give a shit and went to my school, marched into the asst. principal's office and demanded that the girl be suspended as well, or there would be shit to pay.
What happened? The school dropped both of our suspension's, and told us not to fight again. I wonder why?
It's a stupid story, but it really did happen. There are idiots in the world of all races.

Oh no, I wouldn't get on you. Like I said, I have had some trouble and I have not been around a lot of my ethnic group so when I took a Middle Eastern studies class, it was really cool for me. There are so many different religions, languages, and countries in that area that it is very difficult to tell apart. It is also something you don't want to fuck up on with someone who is super serious about that shit because they are constantly fighting over all of those things and there is a lot of hatred. Like if I were mistaken for an Iraqi, I am supposed to be offended by that, but I don't really care. There is just a deep hatred between Iran/Iraq, which Jimmy, you are right about the whites inventing lots of things, like war. America played both sides and supplied both sides with weapons during the Iran/Iraq war. Part of the reason for the problems in the Middle East today is because of the way the British and French decided that the land should be carved up and divided over there.

Why, thank you, kind sir/madame? That quote VLL used was from me. I think it makes sense (for pretty much everything). It's so easy to get angry over shit and a kind word can turn a whole thread around sometimes if done right? I'm still easily miffed and that is my downfall...I try to find my zen but it's not always easy and I have to bite my tongue and bite my typing hand too.
Oddly enough, my two closest friends are Aquariuses. Go figure. :)

I was just responding to Stoney's post, not making an analogy to your post. I think it would be pretty difficult to not be able to tell a 6ft, light skinned black man vs. a short, darker skinned black man. But, I am really interested in the many possibilities of mixing of different people. I am pretty good at telling what people are mixed with, but I pay attention to that sort of thing because of my anthropology and bio background. I totally think it is a sign of disrespect, especially since they all work together. I get mixed up with the only other Middle Eastern girl at my work but only by customers, not by coworkers. I would be offended because I don't look anything like the bitch, lol.

Ha! I used to work in this mall. I worked on one side of the mall and the other (in different record stores). Both sets of staff hung out - it was cool. We would talk about all the ways that Ginas and Japs (not Italians and Jews, mind you) are exactly the same and how the mall was split like that. But it was TRUE! They wore the same kinda clothes, were the same kinda bossy, and the same kinda snobby with similar whines. We'd play guessing games and you wouldn't know until you heard them speak - the big difference? Vowels, really. Ginas have more rounded vowels. Go figure.

Exactly. I can tell all asian ethnicities apart, and blacks and most whites too. But I just grew up like that. And I make mistakes sometimes (not often but still) I still struggle with middle-easterners but (now don't get on me) I've been cabbing it for the last year and I've learned LOTS. ( I love to talk to my cab drivers about their lives - they're often SO interesting!) I can barely tell a Turk from an Iraqi but I'm working on it!

It's NOT easy when you don't have a lot of personal contact with the different ethnicities. Once you do, it's pretty easy, but just because you can't does not make you a bad person or a racist. For me, I have not had a lot of contact with Middle Eastern people. I can always tell when someone is Persian for sure, but Lebanese people look a lot like Persians.

I hear you guys but trust me when I tell you that this is not that type of situation. You could not possibly confuse these two people. Its not really analagous to what you are saying. Its more analogous to refusing to acknowledge someone. For instance, if I dont think that someone is deserving of my respect then I never learn their name. It has nothing to do with racism for me (they can be white, black or otherwise) but while it is an unconscious thing, its something that my mind does because I have consciously dismissed that person. I refuse to acknowledge them. Thats how it is with the two judges. Its not an I cant tell Vietnamese from Filipino thing (which is understandable and hell I cant either). Does that make sense?

Most of Carver's peanut and sweet potato creations were either unoriginal, impractical, or of uncertain effectiveness. No product born in his laboratory was widely adopted.
The boom years for Southern peanut production came prior to, and not as a result of, Carver's promotion of the crop.
Carver's work to improve regional farming practices was not of pioneering scientific importance and had little demonstrable impact.
