R.I.P. Estelle Getty
I knew this day was coming, but that doesn't make it any easier. Estelle Getty passed away this morning at her home in Los Angeles. She was 84. Estelle was surrounded by her family and friends when she went away. She suffered from Lewy Body Dementia for years.
I will miss her and I'm not just saying that! I mean it. If I knew how to cry, I would shed a million tears. I'll quietly eat a piece cheesecake instead. It's what Sophia would have wanted.
Rest in peace, Estelle.....

My heart goes out to her family. She will be missed greatly. Hopefully people will remember her for her contributions to entertainment and not for her disease. I loved her as Sophia in Golden Girls.
My 2 pennies: If you believe in Heaven, when a person departs this life they are going to a better place. The sadness is not for the deceased, but for those left behind and ourselves. We will miss that person and the place they hold in our hearts.

I watched The Golden Girls every Saturday night with my Grandparents when I was a kid. I still watch the re-runs. I loved Sophia! My heart goes out to Estelle's family. I never had the pleasure of meeting her (of course) but I am sure she will be greatly missed. Her acting and her characters certainly brought a lot of smiles to my face.

So strange! I've been watching Golden Girls online a lot recently while taking breaks from studying for the GRE and just yesterday I was thinking, "What will I do when one of them dies?!"
I just recently watched the episode where Sophia gets a discount card at a Costco-like bulk store. She buys cases of sardines and toothbrushes because it makes her feel like she will live longer in order to finish them. I laughed so hard I cried.
RIP Estelle. Words can't express how hard you have made me laugh over the years.
